    I am making an afghan for myself with the Southernland stripe Red Heart because it’s beautiful . I just fell in love with the colors and I always spend my time making 100’s of scarves for others. It will be ready for fall and my recliner!

      I had to look up that colorway, and you’re right, it’s really pretty! You definitely deserve a beautiful blanket to hunker down under this fall!!!

    I'm glad to see someone modeling restraint. It seems to be a bad word in the yarn community. I price 4 weight acrylic yarn by the yard. 1cent per yard is a very nice sale. I use a lot of Redheart because I need easy care items. I have found the burgundy color to feel a lot like sandpaper. I'm not sure why different colors have different textures. Redheart has proven to be a sturdy yarn. Things my mother made for my children are still holding up nicely into their adult years. It was fun to see what you purchased.

      Oh yeah, I don’t like overspending at all!! And o don’t like buying just to buy, if that makes sense. I love RHSS too and I’ve noticed the difference in softness of colorways many times too. I’ve heard people say it the dye, but I have no idea lol!

    Hi Shannon, I have colors of all kinds. I like working with a color that suits my mood at the time. I do think it's important to use colors you like. I make items mostly for others so that is why I have a variety of colors. I also get bored using the same colors all the time. We each have our own taste so we work with all the colors we like.😊 You got some good buys.

      It sounds like you have exactly what you need for what you make, and that’s awesome! We are all crocheting for different reasons and we all need different stuff!! I bet a lot of other people get bored with the same colors too….i’m just a creature of habit! 😂

    It's funny. I love (sans the mustard 😟) all the colors you've collected, but like you with something more colorful, I don't see my self in them. Most of what I own revolves around the blues. Mostly in a medium to deep hue.

    • @ShannonTalksYarn
      @ShannonTalksYarn  6 месяцев назад +1

      I used to not like mustards either lol. 😆
      Blues are great colors too, I’ve always been partial to a dark teal!

    Great as always. Here’s a thought for you-a couple of years ago I went to Home Depot and bought plastic milk creates when they had them on sale. There are stackable, much better than shelves for keeping yarn under control. I put them against a section of a wall, and then I can see all my stash. You might give it some thought rather than keeping your yarn in the closet. It really helps to see what you have on hand!

    Hi, I’m Kay from Australia. I’m plus size, in my early sixties, returned to crochet recently after a long break from it.
    It’s so good to find someone who understands the cost of buying larger amounts of yarn for larger sizing and the idea of a limited colour palette for the stash. I’m a bit of a ‘hydrangea’ colour fan with navy as my base.
    I’m looking forward to learning and sharing hear.

    I got the irish rain soft and sleek for my first sweater! Those balls last forever! I was looking for a yarn for my first sweater and saw it in store, but didn't buy right away. After going home i was still thinking about how pretty the color was, and had to go back and get it! One thing to be aware, the balls are so big and loosely balled the outer layers start coming unwound. I would recommend a yarn container and not doing center pull, it would collapse into a mess. I'm loving how soft and drapey it's working up!

      I'd been looking at this yarn for a while thinking with was so pretty, so I totally get what you mean! And thank you for the tip, I'll be careful because I hate it when my yarn falls apart!!!

    Looks like you had a fun shopping trip :) I love that Soft and Sleek from Hobby Lobby too. I had a sweater I made from a hand dyed yarn that I ran out before I could make the button band, so I was trying to find something to match it and that color was one of the closest things I could find locally. Very pretty tonals in that and I think the color itself is very sophisticated. Im happy to see what you make with it :)

      I really did Meg! I agree, I love the tonals of this yarn and it really does have that hand dyed look!

    As far as my stash. I want to create wearables from historical patterns or combine it with my sewing or quilting. So I am rebuilding and going to purchase natural fibers now.
    But will make amigurumi with my acrylic.

    How did you like the Drops Circus hook? What other hooks would you think it’s comparable to?

    • @ShannonTalksYarn
      @ShannonTalksYarn  5 месяцев назад +2

      I’ve only used the drops basic so far, but I will try the circus next! The basic was nice, very similar to Boye with the rounded end. It crocheted like I’m used to. The only difference is that it seems to have that treatment done to metal where it’s powder coated. So it has a nice matte finish and felt nice in my hand. I’ll keep you posted on the circus, I’ll probably post a Short on it next Wednesday! Thanks for asking 😃
