2023 the Giants offensive line according to PFF was the worst of any NFL measured in the past 2 decades, 3 Giant QB got injured behind this line which gave up 87 sacks and without a number 1 receiver
And they salvaged some of it later in the year. But when AT went down, then JMS went down, HOLY SHIT they were bad. Legit at I times felt they should run the wildcat behind a 6 OL set just to keep Jones from being seriously hurt. The difference in Jones between having AT protecting his blindside and not having him, and now the rush can come from any of the 5 spots in less than a second, no one plays well back there.
These guys clearly don’t know who Carlos Rodon was before the Yankees if they think this is a comparison
Daniel jones is good as long as the O line isn’t historically bad. He led us to the playoffs 2 years ago with no receivers. He’s accurate and he can run. Block for him and he will have a good season.
Daniel’s my quarterback until he isn’t. Not saying I’m not open to looking ahead at a replacement, but I will continue to support him until then. We should all want him to do well.
It’s all just an extension of what giants fans were with Eli where you had 1 group that always believed in him, 1 group that hated him but came around after he won 2 championships for them and than the last group that never stop despising Eli Manning and wished they had a better QB but kept quiet about it.
That silent group is what would then become the loud and angry fans who saw Jones get drafted and refuse to go through this all over again.

@@FittedInThe798but people don’t see it like that, they’re assuming that Jones isn’t gonna randomly peak or even if he does, they think there will be more bad years than good ones.
It just comes back to the age old question of “would you rather be consistently great but never reach/win a Super Bowl or be Consistently bad/medicore but have that 1 great/winning season”.
Right now, a lot of giants fans would rather have a great quarterback than just gamble on a miracle run.

A lot of ifs here. DJ played one good quarter out of 24 last year (define stinks). The backups did WAY better last year with the same team. Why is the starting job DJ's to loose?
...Sooo, the NYGs "built that ass" in the off-season (as best as they could). These young players deserve a QB who can hold it together so that this team can progress. DJ has already proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he is not that guy...that he will fall apart under pressure (I have seen it).
The real question is..why is the fan base so polarized? The "show me" crowd vs the "blind faith"crowd, that believes this year will be the year that Linus and "The great pumpkin" finally show up
Seek help. The argument about the backups playing better is so flawed its crazy. We played weaker teams later in the year... The o line was also not the same. They had different guard play and rotations made all over the line. Additionally, O lines gel as the season progresses
The 2022 season was purely brian daboll in my opinion. He’d have airtight game plans. jones only threw 15 TDs. I’m not about stats but I don’t think that’s sustainable in 2024

Jones, when healthy, is absolutely a starter in this league. Give him something resembling an NFL team around him before you criticize him. He is a very solid starting NFL QB.

He's good enough to win with a solid team. Focus on the positions where the same can't be said, of which the Giants have several such spots.

I hate to break it to everyone but Daniel Jones is going to look great in training camp. 3rd year with same qb, off coor and head coaches; same offense and more seasoned weapons. He is still here because Daboll can absolutely see what his off can be with DJ. Can a good-great camp translate? 60-40 probably not (see all the very true 6 yr comments in this stream) but everyone is going to have to deal with red jersey Jones looking like a grown ass man with absolute control of a Daboll and crew offense with some electric weapons outside.
The camp look will be infuriating if it doesnt translate when the hitting counts.
2 big ifs but IF o-line can be professional level and IF he avoids injury... watching a 6-5, 230pd elite athlete fully grown with complete ownership of the full capacity of a Dabol offense could be something to see.
He is down to his last 7 games. Make them count.

I really want DJ to do well the but the comparison fails for one reason. The Yankees are really good, the Giants aren’t. Rodon’s pitched well but the team around him is fantastic. However bad people think the team around DJ’s been his entire career, statistically it’s been even worse than that. If you look at team WAR (yes there’s WAR in football) without the QB, the Giants have the second lowest over DJ’s career. There’s this false narrative that if he plays well the team can be good, they can’t be.
Therefore not his fault, I hope you mean.

Exactly! Prior to last year (when he was injured) Rodon was 13-5 and 14-8, averaging over 200 Ks per season. He was an established player who came back from an injury. Jones has NEVER been good at any level. He wasn't good in H.S., which is why he was a walk-on at Duke. And he wasn't a winner at Duke either. Jones has averaged just over 1 TD pass per game as a pro, including 2022 (the year his supporters tout as his "good" season) when he threw for 15 TDs in 16 games. And Jones can't even stay healthy, as he has missed games in 4 of his 5 years with the Giants due to injury.
This feels like we have almost reached rock bottom having to make a baseball reference to why we should have some faith in Daniel Jones
Guys he has one more year, anything is possible in the league, if you want to see the giants do good and Malik nabors go off you should be sending positivity and hope his way, stop wanting to be miserable all the time, Jones isn’t this awful QB he literally won a road playoff game with no real weapons against an offense who was top 3, let’s give the guy a break and see what he does

The offensive line excuse is done at this point. You had to quarterbacks come in and play better behind the same offensive line. The line Tyrod had to play behind was worse than Daniel Jones. No Thomas and Pugh straight off his coach

Doesn’t mean you can’t try to be hopeful and optimistic leading up to the season. It’s unlikely to be better but it’s not impossible that he figures it out.
Do you want the team to fail or to succeed. I think the best chance for the team to succeed is for Daniel Jones to exceed what he was in 2022

As a Giants fan please stop. Daniel Jones should get no benefit of the doubt throw over 15 touchdown passes and I’ll be impressed.
He did as a rookie. In less than a full year. His contract sucks, hes wayyyyyyy overpaid, but the idea he is horrible because of 2023 is just wrong. Maybe last year did too much damage. Maybe he has PTSD and will never be comfortable in the pocket again, but the line he played behind was by far the worst I've ever seen. that's saying something with how bad the Giants lines have been the last decade +.
Guys Jones has been terrible for five years. And his “good” season was a mediocre 15 passing TDs. And don’t ever mention Eli and Jones in the same sentence. No one thought he was Eli but better. Everyone thought he was Dave Brown 2.0.
