    It's true. People with thicker ankles have a longer calf muscle and less tendon, so the muscle extends further down the leg making ankles appear larger. Skinny ankles have nothing but long stretchy tendon running to them. Makes like a spring

      Nah bro, look at pro and collegiate linemen. They usually have pretty skinny ankles too. There’s truth to this because if you have a high calf insert you won’t have fat ankles and high calf inserts are usually indicative of fast twitch muscle fibers

      @@nicaleman9560 Nah. Linemen are required to be the opposite. Theyre highly skilled, highly intelligent but they are moving walls that shuffle a couple feet left or right. Skinny ankles and fast twitch fibers are among the last things they need.

    It’s weird but mostly true if you look at the fastest guys in NFL history. All skinny calves and ankles. Deion Sanders swears by this too. Used to talk about it at the combine

    I showed him my ankles and then he wanted to see my calves and then he wanted to see my thighs and it just didn't end from there.

    My father was a scout in the NBA. He would look at the ankles of potential draftees. According to dad, the angle of the Achilles tendon would tell him how athletic a person was. Those who's heals stuck out from the foot was his evidence of their ability to run and jump. How thin their leg was below the knee was also what he looked at.

    There might actually be some truth to that. The Kalenjin Tribe of Kenya produces some of the best distance runners in the world, and I read that scientists attribute that to the slenderness of the ankles and lower calves.

    Look from the back to the front. The Achilles is thin from the heel up and towards the front of the foot usually they are athletic.

    In bodybuilding, skinny ankles and wrists also gives a more aesthetic look, and most of the top BBers have them. Interesting that this might also be an indication of athleticism.

    He's basically looking to see the attachment points of their calves. If the attachment point is lower, that's where the term kankles comes from, and usually that lower attachment point translates into less athleticism.

    As an athlete with skinny ankles I can say it’s true, I have always excelled in every sport I tried, every sport except boxing. I have fractured both wrist twice. Had to call the quits on that.

    Not going to lie i have always thought the same since i was in 6th grade as a up and coming athlete. I was about to be 12 and I was 5'10 and all the local P A L coaches would come to our school for open gym Fridays to watch me play. I noticed many of the coaches would ask about my ankles and if they were ok. I noticied the high flying, fast running players all had thick calves but slim ankles.
    WOW I thought I only thought like that.

    If you’re looking for a WR yeah. The fastest guys have super skinny ankles. You’re not durable at all but you don’t get tired. You’re fast for 4 quarters.

    A better sign that someone is athletic is the length of their Achilles. The longer the Achilles the more power and explosiveness they normally are

    I’m not sure how things were done at Ole Miss, but I’ve never seen this done at Liberty. I was with the team two of the four years he was there, and one of those I was heavily involved in recruiting. I never once saw him do this.

    Hes not looking at the ankle width. Hes looking at the bow of the ankle. Good way of seeing if a athlete is injury prone or not.

    This is funny because my son is super athletic but you’d never know just looking at him. 6’2 freshman with a 6’5 wingspan. Can absolutely jump. Hell of a pitcher and center fielder and leaves teammates in awe from the sht he does. Walks off like it was nothing. Not in an egotistical way but in a humble I didn’t know that was good type of way

    It's not the ankle... Is about the small calves.. if they have skinny legs from the knee down it mean they have a longer Achilles tendon which produces more explosive movement

    There is some truth to that; however, that ankle thing has many facets attached to it. Though true it does attribute to how fast an athlete is…still with other factors involved.

    This is true. However it doesn't translate 100% of the time with catching the deep ball. But if the pkayed thd outfield in little league and high school. It almost guaranteed that they are a great athlete with good ball tracking skills so they end up catching the ball. If not, they're going to make a helluva db!!!!

    I’ve seen this with lineman but with neck size. The bigger the neck of a high school athlete the more muscle you can put on them.
