your good at explaining things in your videos. could you do a video explaining the difference with a bus and a send because it would probably help a lot of people sometimes fl can get complicated
your videos are always easy too follow and i meant it in a good way!!! hopefully soon you can do a video on how to record vocals to sit well in the mix. Ive learned alot from you and i appreciate your videos, thank you FireWalk!!!
When you make a new project, go to new from template and select the one with four sends to the right. You can also set it up manually: ruclips.net/video/mJn6-3qew4c/видео.html
Yes, you can use any track as a send track. If you want to use more than 4 send tracks, you can click on any track you want to use as a send and dock it to the right as well, so that you have them all in that section to the right. Makes it more organized. :)
You only want the wet signal, not the dry. It's very important that any plugin you use on the send channel is 100% wet. If it's dry you get more volume as well, and you don't want that. You just want the effect.
firewalks rock, with his sophisticated teaching tools to maintain clarity and simplicity...please i always l always lazily batch process vocals, as in I fit most of my vocal tracks into an insert with same eQ and effect settings for all vocals just so that i might sound similar throughout the whole track. sometimes i get to wonder if am right this way.?...or is it best to give unique eQuing to different vocal takes?
Thanks :) Well this isn't easy to answer, it all depends on the vocals and what you're trying to achieve. I usually EQ backing vocals quite differently from the main vocals. I might want it more powerful in the breakdown, and then EQ out more of the low end during the drop. But again, this depends heavily on the vocals, the track itself and the genre. I usually make trance music with has a lot of elements in it, which makes it important to make room for frequencies. Other more minimalist genres won't require so heavy EQing.

Nice video. i have a question i auto tune a vocal. which is in Em key. so i should select Em scale key's or not . and can i change key of song useing auto tune.
It depends on the vocal. I assume you meant an acapella? It's usually easiest to stay in the same key. Did you get it? Cause I was looking today n learned how. It’s in the top left, you click on file under the x and _ minimize window options. It’s in “New from template” and is called “Empty with 4 sends” note: it will remove the limiter that comes preloaded on the master. When you have the send tracks you can open and close their window by clicking the thicker separator strip right before track 100, your mouse will change cursors when you hover over it. 2 years, you probably got it figured by now 😂
Hi great videos I've just come across your channel and its helped me a lot. I'm struggling to figure out what the difference is between putting an effect on the mixer channel and putting the automation in at the point that I need it on the playlist or doing it this way using a send?
The effect will be the same. The thing with send tracks is that it makes it a lot quicker as you can set up the effect once, and then quickly apply it to various mixer channels. If you want to automate the amount, you can just select the track for which you want to automate the amount, then right click on the send knob and then adjust the automation clip. :)
That's because your send effects need to be turned to 100% wet, or the dry part of the signal will add to your original signal, amplifying it. If adding a reverb for example, make sure it's set to 100% wet. 0% dry.
The 12.5 update got rid of em, but if you just sidechain a track to any empty track it'll then be what they're referring to as a "send track". Also if you want to create those four send tracks again here's a video made by this same dude on how to ruclips.net/video/mJn6-3qew4c/видео.html
Indeed, they removed them in the 12.5 update. You can get them back by going to "file" in the upper left corner, then "new from template" and select "empty with 4 sends" :)
The master channel is the track all other tracks get sent to, so anything you put on the master will affect all tracks. If you want to exclude one or more tracks, you'll need to make a pre-master track, and put all your master effects on that track, and then send the pre-master track to the master, which has nothing on it. You can then send all tracks to the pre-master track instead of the master, and then send the one (or more) track(s) you want to exclude directly to the master, thereby bypassing the mastering effects on the pre-master-track. Note that this procedure will likely cause increased CPU usage.
Thx, I have question that I hope u can help me with. I have my drums on a individual track, with different amount of reverb from a send in the mixer and then have drums bus channel with maybe a low cut filter on, this is where I get the problem, it don’t filter the different amount of reverb, how do I fix this? Thanks
The sends are separate from the bus. In cases like this you either have to link several parameters to the same automation clip or make separate automations. If you have other things also affected by the sends then you might want to control the send amount instead during the filtering.
A mix bus or submix as they are also called is a track that has other tracks routed to it, like a pre-master. Imagine you have 4 different leads tracks, and you want to add processing to the combined sound (layer) at the same time. You can then route them all to a separate track and apply processing there. This track will then be routed to the master. That's a submix. A send track is a track with an effect, like a reverb for example. You can then sidechain any track to the send track to apply the processing on that track to that signal.
@@FireWalkMusic Hi, so the correct technique should be, link my bus channel to any of the send tracks to apply for example a reverb right? The thing im trying to figure out tough is , why would i need to send a bus with reverb on it to a send track with another reverb? i mean i can already automate my reverb, compressor, eq, filters on the bus for the synths i got linked to it right? and thats all. In which scenarios should i use send tracks if im already using bus channels for leads, drums, basses, fx .. In my case im producing electronic music (progressive house)
Ok i was looking around about my last question and i found about fruity send After watching this video (sorry for maybe spamming other youtube channel or something, i just consider this sharing knowledge) ruclips.net/video/ehY4Yr0jom0/видео.html I think what you were teaching us was kind of a Parallel Processing? the other guy on the video wants for example more compression onto some drums, then apply two fruity send for two tracks to apply reverb and delay. Anyways he doesnt mention anything about delay compensation tough There would be my final question then. Does using "sidechain to this track" like he did plus using fruity send would be another way to solve the delay compensation besides using Patcher?
Hey. Are you using the newest version of FL Studio? They removed the docked send tracks in this version because of the fact that any track in the mixer can serve as a send track. To get it back, simply right click on an empty track and select "dock to the right" to dock them to the right as before. If you want future projects to start with the send tracks docked like this, just save it as a new template. (Check out my video on how to save a template)
No, the frequencies will be different. The only similarity will be the settings for the reverb (lenght, lowcut, pre delay etc). It can become an issue if you use the exact same reverb on a lot of elements though. Reverb in general can easily make the mix muddy. I recommend setting up one long and one short reverb send, and another that's sidechained as well. :) Using a sidechained reverb as well for some things will let you get away with more reverb.
What do you mean? The main difference in 12.5 is the new picker panel. But you can turn it off if you don't want to use it. :) Or do you mean pre FL 11 and fl 12+ ?
If you want all of them to be the same reverb size, like a supersaw bus, could you set the wet to the desired amount (perhaps 20%) then have the send knob at 100% for all of them? Would this create any problems/does it work just as well in this situation?
Try to think of it like this: The main track is dry. And you use the send track with the effect, in this case the reverb, to apply the "wet" effect (reverb). For that to work properly the effect on the send needs to be 100% wet. If it's say 20% dry then what will happen is that you will basically just increase the volume of the dry track, which makes no sense. It just makes it more difficult to mix. So if you want 20% wet signal on your bus, then just turn up the send knob until you've applied approximately 20% reverb. :) But keep in mind the pdc issues when using submixes and such, where you've already used inter-routing. :)
the thing is, i wanna eq just the reverb but when i do it it also affects the dry signal which is not what i want.. is there a fix for that or am i just too dumb..
In that case I would just use patcher instead, and then tweak the gain in there, or apply some parallel processing. You can do more creative stuff in patcher. If using some special plugins like that, I'd just use patcher. Send tracks however, are much faster in terms of workflow though, so for everything else I'd use send tracks. :)
I have the fruity edition of fl. On the image line website, it says it comes with the extra send tracks, but I don’t see them in the mixer. Can u help please?
They are not there in the standard template any more. Here's how you can get them back: ruclips.net/video/mJn6-3qew4c/видео.html This video also explains how it all works, as well as the reason they are not there any more. It also shows ow you can save your own template with as many sends where you want them. Alternatively you can load one of the old templates with 4 sends instead of the default one. :)
FireWalk Actually, I just figured that out today XD. Thx for the response tho. Yeah I was like, why don’t I get send tracks when it loads? tbh I didn’t know that they switched it as a template until now lol
Hi, here's how you get them back manually: ruclips.net/video/mJn6-3qew4c/видео.html You can also load a template where the sends are pinned to the right, as it was in earlier versions.
Thanks! I usually spend about an hour every day replying to messages. I started the channel in order to help people out, and even though it's becoming more difficult as the channel grows, I still do what I can :)
@@FireWalkMusic awesome content as always man, ive been using this method a lot recently and I ran into a dilemma. Doing it this way means the signal flow of the reverb is at the end of your original track. What if you had a compressor on your pad and you wanted the reverb before the compressor? Is that where fruity send comes in?
Hey Firewalk was wondering what your thoughts on this are Basically I have a reverb on a send channel, the send channel goes to the master bus bypassing any other buses created by myself, so then if I put say a automated high pass filter on my instrument bus, only the dry instrument signals are filtered the reverb bypasses the bus and the filter and comes straight out the master bus Do you know anyway How can I fix this? Or a workaround Cheers in advance
Hi, yes it will be two separate tracks and separate signals. You could always send both to a third track and add the automation there. However, the point of having a send track is that you can easily apply the same effects to different elements quickly. If you have one track that you want to have some automation on, then it might be easier to just copy the effect from the send track on to the track you want to automate, and then add the automation.
Does that mean i can finally sidechain my kick and bass with only having a reverb and chorus plus distortion on my bass with out it affecting the kick ?
@@FireWalkMusic i got it i think. there was a knob some where on the channels mixer that allowed me to turn down the volume of it on the kicks insert. I been trying to figure this out with a headache. It was right in front me the whole time :(2😡😡😡😡😡😡😅😅😅😅😅😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. Been a few days i tried to achieve this. I put the limiter on my bass and sidechained then put the reverb on the bass but it was putting reverb on the kick as well. Even when i made a send for the bass channel but then the knob at the bottom in its send channel. Idk i think i got it xD i cant believe i over looked it.
Hey! If anyone knows how, feel free to pitch in. My issue is when I have a gate, eq, comp, dsser, another eq maybe and another compressor but I need 4 sends for my reverbs and delays.. but there aren't enough spaces on my chain, what do I do then??
Wait, so wouldn't adding an LFO like that affect all the mixer tracks that are routed to that send? For example if I wanted to sidechain the reverb to a peak controller for my chords, would it be better to just do that in one mixer slot instead of using a send?
It would. That's why I typically set up various sends like "small reverb" "large reverb" with sidechain / without sidechain etc. The whole point with sends is that it should be simple and quick to apply some basic processing that you use a lot on many elements in your track. I recommend using it for that porpose. In other words, if you have any element in your track that you want to process a little bit differently, then it's generally better to apply dedicated processing for that element, and reserve the sends for everything else which is more generic. You might want to have dedicated processing on your more important elements such as vocals, leads and such. Background stuff isn't as important, so sends work well for those.
@@FireWalkMusic Interesting... I guess i never really got why this was done in full detail, it makes a lot more sense now. Right now my workflow is really slow and I usually get caught in a hole where I've spent so much time doing tedious tasks and it has taken away from the creativity. So maybe doing this can help save me time.
You can't do it directly from FL. You'll have to export it first, and then import it into a video editor and then export it as a video file before you can upload it to youtube.

What the difrent between side chain and send
Thx, I have question that I hope u can help me with. I have my drums on a individual track, with different amount of reverb from a send in the mixer and then have drums bus channel with maybe a low cut filter on, this is where I get the problem, it don’t filter the different amount of reverb, how do I fix this? Thanks
The sends are separate from the bus. In cases like this you either have to link several parameters to the same automation clip or make separate automations. If you have other things also affected by the sends then you might want to control the send amount instead during the filtering.
wwooaaww very very useful tip Thanx a lot
You're welcome 😃
So what's the difference between Mix bus and sends?
Ok i was looking around about my last question and i found about fruity send
After watching this video (sorry for maybe spamming other youtube channel or something, i just consider this sharing knowledge)
ruclips.net/video/ehY4Yr0jom0/видео.html
I think what you were teaching us was kind of a Parallel Processing? the other guy on the video wants for example more compression onto some drums, then apply two fruity send for two tracks to apply reverb and delay. Anyways he doesnt mention anything about delay compensation tough
There would be my final question then. Does using "sidechain to this track" like he did plus using fruity send would be another way to solve the delay compensation besides using Patcher?
So should I make 2 Different
Reverb Sends or just put both short and long on one mixer track?
Two different ones
Can you help me, my mixer track doesnt have send tracks when I open up a new project, what should I do to get them?
Does sounds sharing the same reverb affect anything ?
No, the frequencies will be different. The only similarity will be the settings for the reverb (lenght, lowcut, pre delay etc). It can become an issue if you use the exact same reverb on a lot of elements though. Reverb in general can easily make the mix muddy. I recommend setting up one long and one short reverb send, and another that's sidechained as well. :) Using a sidechained reverb as well for some things will let you get away with more reverb.
Thank you very much! My friend!
You're welcome 🙂
Can you tell me how to make send track in 12.5 is not like other fl studio
What do you mean? The main difference in 12.5 is the new picker panel. But you can turn it off if you don't want to use it. :) Or do you mean pre FL 11 and fl 12+ ?
On this video you setup revearv track number 100 they are separated automatically can send mixer track but 12.5 is not like this
Try clicking on the inner edge of the mixer on the right side, they are probably hidden
FireWalk I’m clicking but they not showing up
Holy cow. Thanks once again!
Thanks! Glad you liked it :)
But keep in mind the pdc issues when using submixes and such, where you've already used inter-routing. :)
I completely understand now. After some tinkering and experimenting with your comment I get it :) Thank you!
Glad to hear it :)
Do you have tutorial How to use F.Delay And patcher?
Not yet, but patcher is on my "to do" :)
They are now delay compensated in 20 right???
Yes they are :)
the thing is, i wanna eq just the reverb but when i do it it also affects the dry signal which is not what i want.. is there a fix for that or am i just too dumb..
What if I'm using third party plugins where there's no dry wet knob and i only want the wet signal?
In that case I would just use patcher instead, and then tweak the gain in there, or apply some parallel processing. You can do more creative stuff in patcher. If using some special plugins like that, I'd just use patcher. Send tracks however, are much faster in terms of workflow though, so for everything else I'd use send tracks. :)
I have the fruity edition of fl. On the image line website, it says it comes with the extra send tracks, but I don’t see them in the mixer. Can u help please?
They are not there in the standard template any more. Here's how you can get them back: ruclips.net/video/mJn6-3qew4c/видео.html
This video also explains how it all works, as well as the reason they are not there any more.
Does one have to use the EFFECTS on samples or just leave samples as is?
You don't have to use effects on all samples. :)
@@FireWalkMusic Thank You for your reply
How do I display these on my fl studio 20? They're hidden.Notning but mixer tracks only
Hi, here's how you get them back manually: ruclips.net/video/mJn6-3qew4c/видео.html
You can also load a template where the sends are pinned to the right, as it was in earlier versions.
@@FireWalkMusic thanks a lot!
My pc isn't showing 100, 101, 102... on right side. It's hidden. How do i bring it back?
It's shown here: ruclips.net/video/mJn6-3qew4c/видео.html
Wow thank you so much for this
You're welcome :)
yo my effects slot disappeared and now i got it back but its on the left , how do i get it back on the right ?
Click on the upper left corner of the mixer. A menu will appear. Click "view" and then deselect the "track inspector on left side" option. :)
its insane 3 years and hes still replying bcs people still watch this video
Is that where fruity send comes in?
such a perfect explanation! thank you!
You're welcome :)
can i use 1-99 mixer as a send track?
Any track can be used as a send track :)
THANK YOU :)
great tips thanks
You're welcome :)
Woo firewalk you got a 3k subscribe now!\wow/ nice video!
Hey Jack! I noticed that. Nice! :D And thanks! Glad you liked it :)
great tips!
Thanks :)
great and helpful .. thank you a lot ...
Thanks man for this video :) and i looking forward how to use patcher ;)
You're welcome :)
I've heard some of my send tracks affect stereo imaging
how do we create stereo send track.
Use two send tracks :)
Hey Firewalk was wondering what your thoughts on this are
Basically I have a reverb on a send channel, the send channel goes to the master bus bypassing any other buses created by myself, so then if I put say a automated high pass filter on my instrument bus, only the dry instrument signals are filtered the reverb bypasses the bus and the filter and comes straight out the master bus
Do you know anyway How can I fix this? Or a workaround
Cheers in advance
Hi, yes it will be two separate tracks and separate signals. You could always send both to a third track and add the automation there. However, the point of having a send track is that you can easily apply the same effects to different elements quickly. If you have one track that you want to have some automation on, then it might be easier to just copy the effect from the send track on to the track you want to automate, and then add the automation.
Does that mean i can finally sidechain my kick and bass with only having a reverb and chorus plus distortion on my bass with out it affecting the kick ?
You can use send tracks to have a reverb for example, that's sidechained independently of the main sound.
Good video, thanks :)
You're welcome :)
Hello sir! All of your videos help me in FL! May i know the notes of the Chords progressions? It sounds very emotional and it calms me. Please sir :(
Thanks, glad you liked it. I don't remember, sorry. :\
How do you send my beats from fruity loops 12 to youtube or Facebook from pc
You can't do it directly from FL. You'll have to export it first, and then import it into a video editor and then export it as a video file before you can upload it to youtube.
What would you do if the plugin does not have a wet and dry knob?!
play around with plugin to find out what knob is automating the effects
Thank you sm I can grow my channel now. This helped a lot
Thanks man!
You're welcome :)
Is this the same as a return track?
No, not really.
