In all honesty I reckon Kurt should have been lower I mean they were a good band but he wasn’t a good singer he just screamed, the rest had proper technique and skill to their voice
Kurt did cool things with his voice in addition to singing. Some of it was akin to rap as well, like weird forms of deranged rhythmatic storytelling, squealing and moaning, intentional voice cracking, etc, so interesting. If this were an American idol contest, you could rank him low, but his voice was so much more than that, and in the right context, you could also rank him higher because of his creativity.
I think based on Studio recordings (particularly BMF and Superunonown), I'd say Chris is the better vocalist. But his live performances don't seem to have been as impressive, whereas Layne was good both in studio and live.

Okay but every single one of these guys are beautiful
Funny how Laynes voice still gets the adrenaline flowing when you hear it.
You're god damn right Layne is number 1 and Cornell is number 2.
Nice joke
I am so glad Layne was #1!
Chris and Layne had voices like angels
Anytime I put on Alice In Chains and I hear Laynes’ vocals I just get this burst of energy, Rest In Peace, Stayley 🙏 🤍
Daniel Johns is such a great singer... thanks for not forgetting about him. 🤘
What was the song in the video
@@garbage5318 Pure massacre (live at Melbourne)
He is awesome and rightly deserve a place among the best singers in the grunge era along with Kurt, Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder and Layne Staley
A bold but respectable move placing Kurt Cobain at #5.
No questions there. Layne was an incredibly gifted vocalist.
Okay, I was getting nervous there for a second. Then, it got #1, and I muttered to myself, "yeah, that's what I thought!"
Layne you are a true angel and legend. Truly a beautiful individual who has touched so many lives!
They got this list right!! I love Chris Cornell and Layne Staley's voices 🖤
Great list, woulda had to come find u if you put Layne anywhere besides #1.
I legit have got in a fight before bc somebody said Rain When I Die, was trash. I said take it back or fight me, he thought it was a joke.
Loved This Comment!!
I Agree With This List, Especially 1 & 2!! Can't Forget Kurt!!
What are you; 6???
@@1leech 28, 6’2 240lbs and will slap your teeth out for disrespecting AIC. Call me 6 if you like.
That's my favorite alice in chains song ❤️
@@bdeezy2962 My fave is angry chair
I completely agree with this list . Layne the best
🤝
I’m actually glad that someone made this as fair as possible and didn’t just slap Kurt Cobain in number one because of Nirvanas popularity
In all honesty I reckon Kurt should have been lower I mean they were a good band but he wasn’t a good singer he just screamed, the rest had proper technique and skill to their voice
@@elliotparker2756 Kurt was a decent singer. Had a unique voice and could scream like hell.
@@elliotparker2756Kurt should have been 9 or 10 on this list. And yes, I'm a Nirvana fan.
@@dannygreen7473yeah ok
Kurt did cool things with his voice in addition to singing. Some of it was akin to rap as well, like weird forms of deranged rhythmatic storytelling, squealing and moaning, intentional voice cracking, etc, so interesting.
If this were an American idol contest, you could rank him low, but his voice was so much more than that, and in the right context, you could also rank him higher because of his creativity.
God I love Mark Arm. Mudhoney is such an awesome band.
Of course I love Layne, Kurt, Chris and Andy too.❤
Crazy cuz layne smoked heavy and did drugs and his voice never wavered..God blesses him with a perfect voice
Shows how beneficial vocal exercises can be if done correctly .
It did towards the end though, naturally.
Great list! I'm glad people are appreciating and showing love for Scott Weiland. STP gotta be my favorite grunge band.

Without a doubt Chris Cornell had the greatest combination of technical abilities and incredible power.
I think based on Studio recordings (particularly BMF and Superunonown), I'd say Chris is the better vocalist. But his live performances don't seem to have been as impressive, whereas Layne was good both in studio and live.
@@stephenhughes5156Did you completely miss his live vocals in the 90's?
@TTUploads Well the ones I've watched/listened to weren't exactly flawless. Any specific examples where he sounds as good live?

Top 6 is very accurate. Some placings might be a bit different but all 6 are incredible.
Props for including Daniel Johns, people called him a Kurt wannabe and silverchair as 'nirvana in pyjamas' but frogstomp fucking rocked and he could scream with the best of them.
Totally agree!
