When music was music… funk at its finest
Do remember the movie, The Johnson’s Family Reunion. It has Cedric the Entertainer, Bow Wow, Vanessa Williams, and Steve Harvey.
I love that movie!!!
This a darn good party song and we danced the heck out of this song. Some people did line type dance.
This is the FAT funk I remember from the roller rink. This, Atomic Dog, Burn Rubber On Me(Why You Wanna Hurt Me), Bounce-Rock-Skate-Roll, Let It Whip, Freakazoid, and many more that defined that era.
troof!
Classic Funk band like the Barkays. U should check out Tom Browne “Funking for Jamaica”
I love Funkin’ For Jamaica!
Jamaica, Queens NYC in da house - yes, "Funkin for Jamaica" :)
i love that song
Yeah I was gonna say this is his intro into funk so he should listen to parliament “ flashlight “
One to the best basslines of all time.
Hey now! Lakeside is from my home town Dayton Ohio! Along with the Ohio Players, Heatwave, Zapp, Slave, and other great bands. Keep diving into the Funk!!! 🥰👊🏽
I danced to this in high school in clubs, at parties. Always one of my favorites!!
The Funk and nothing but the Funk! The bassline drives this track 🔥
At the disco, when this came on, errrrrrybody *JUMPED* to the dance floor! lol!!
This is still one of my all time favorite songs.
Having grown up listening to this play EVERYDAY on the radio, when R&B stations existed, it’s hilarious listening to you say “ Where have I heard this before?” Ummm, family bbq, uncles car, neighborhood grocery store or beauty supply? Everywhere? Lol. Gramma’s house? How old are you? I’d your generation really that distanced from our classic REAL MUSIC?? If so, y’all are missing OUT!!
This track was an instant classic. I love it.
Listen to Lakeside's Ballad Say Yes! It's absolutely beautiful!
One of the Best JAM Bands.
Great music
Good shit ain't it?! Man back in the day we jammed this in the car, at parties and danced our asses off to it at the club. We were partying and it was very rare that to see a fight or shooting.
Y'all young folks today refuse to get along and enjoy each other's company. Y'all missing all the fun you could be having.
I still play this!! 🔥🔥🔥 one of them is family😜😜
Lakeside, late 70-80's funk band, check out, your love is on the one, Raid, it's all the way live
This will get you on the dance floor a Jam!;!;;
My favorite song by Lakeside is: I Need You! Another funk band from O-H-I-O!!
I thought I was the only one that loved that song!!
@@carolanestanley4030 nah sis, you are not alone!
React to the group Slave- Slide or Watching You, or the group D Train - You're The One for Me, or group- New Birth -Wild Flower or Dream Merchant, or We are God's Children, and Funkadelic - One Nation Under a Groove. One I really think you would enjoy is Isaac Hayes - I Stand Accused
Danced till 4am behind this song back in the day
This group had that great funky sound. But they have beautiful ballads too. My favorite was "Be My Lady". It's quite a long song, but the guitar near the end ... love it!
Say Yes is a wonderful ballad by them, too.
Lakeside is one of those great 1970's R&B/Funk bands that defined the era! There were many great bands like this, such as, Cameo, The Barkays, Kool and the Gang, Earth Wind and Fire, The Commodores, and Parliment/Funkadelic! These bands had amazing musicians and great vocals and let's not forget the amazing costumes! LOL! My older sisters had all the albums from these bands the music would fill the house when our parents weren't home! LOL! This brings back so many great memories from my childhood! Coolio did a remake, of sorts, of this song but nothing compares to the original!💖💖
Funk Classic - was featured in one of the those family reunion movies featuring Cedric the Entertainer and Bow Wow
Old school groups were true artists. There may be several bands playing the same genre of music, but each had a distinct sound. Also, songs/music was layered, and structured -- complex. Today, there aren't as many groups/bands and music, imo has become boring.
Facts!!!!!
Opening chord told us all we need to know. No build-up whatsoever.
Loriann, you are absolutely correct. Black Music no longer is about the depth of vocals and playing the instruments. It's all about the look. The real talent takes a back seat to how big the booty or breasts are. How sad is that!
It would be great if we could get back to having real instruments in our songs so that kids in school would be inclined to learn an instrument, and more money would go back into the music education program. Knowing how to play an instrument has many benefits outside of music.
Bass on this is sooo wicked… Sooo badass. Yes sir❤❤!!!
If you ever watch the movie Johnson's Family vacation Is starring Cedric the Entertainer Vanessa Williams salon Knowles and little bow wow
Play some Eastbay funk. Tower of Power, Parliament, Pointer Sisters, Johnny Taylor, Funkadelic.
Eastbay as in OAKLAND, Ca
@@sereneamani1713 Yes .
1980...right after "All the Way Live", they had nice string of hits back in the day! Also, "Pull My Strings", "Outrageous", "Raid". Their live concerts was something to see!
Real Love and Say Yes are great ballads by Lakeside

Excuse me , while I get up and DANCE!!! You know your right, somebody sample this in thier rap. Coolio.

YOUR LOVE IS ON THE ONE!!!!!!! Lakeside!!
Lake side musical pleasure! Do you wanna go??????
Lakeside is of everyone's favorite groups and this particular song ruled the charts at number one with so many weeks and that whole album was a classic but the group had many more number one singles and number one albums for years. It takes you back to my high school years. They were such a talented group that played multiple instruments and they could all sing.
"Fantastic Voyage" will get you on your feets.Funk at it's best.

This is a OG classic, Coolio made a song using this sample
Wow, this takes me back to The Tom Joyner Cruises for HBCU's. The classy and supportive Black folks giving back to the future generations of the next Black All Stars (Black college students)! The best musical acts, big time fun, beautiful islands and safe cruises! The relationships that were built and the next level business network connections. I miss them so much! Lakeside performed many a time!
Satori, I'm still waiting for the ONE HIT WONDERS!
1. SFP...My Love Is the Shh

It sounds so much better, it makes you wanna get up an JAM!
You might of heard this song on the “Johnson Vacation “.
Lakeside was an amusement park. This group is from Dayton, Ohio. There are about 10-15 Funk Groups from there starting with the Ohio Players. Look for the RUclips video called the Land Of Funk. I think they all went to the two Black High schools there.

Coolio's version is basically the same song, just with rap.
Coolio was genius!
Not even close in intent!!! Party vs life in the streets isn't a good comparison!!!
Please, please react to some more of the O'Jays music.
"Use to be my girl,
Cry together, Forever Mine,
You got your hooks in me ,
Your body's here with me..
Brandy."
the O'Jay have so many good songs..

It was parodied as "Come On And Apply For My Fantastic Mortgage!"
"Atlantic Starr" is a group you should check out. They had a multitude of r&b as well as funk tunes that are now classics. You've probably heard their tunes or portions of them. They fit in very well with what you're doing.
YESSSS 👍💯
I love their song, RAID! ❤
I also haven't heard the full song, but this song was one of my songs to play while in band! I still whistle this song at work when I'm bored, still remembering the beat and notes! Fun times!
Another great concert!!!!!!! In fact I saw them with the Bar-Kays LOL
The jam from Lakeside is " I wanna hold your hand!" and "Special".
It was also used in the movie South Central
Oh yeh, 'Something about that woman'! off the chain!
It went by fast.. because it was really good music.. same concept as "time flies when you are having fun"
You are correct, this was on the Funk station on GTA San Andreas.
Chi-lites, Delfonics, the Emotions...check them out! It's just so much good music to choose from.
That's some badass Bass
This was my skate jam.
You have to watch the video to really get into the song. They had some good dance moves and in costume.
You should listen to Lakesides "something about that woman" Great dance song
You have to listen to "It's All the Way Live"
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Live ...all the way live...Come on ya'll
This was one of the original groups that brought rap mainstream.. without them and Sugarhill Gang you would have to find a different way in to what we have today.
JAM!
Jammmmm
It was in the movie Johnson Family Vacation starring Cedric the Entertainer
I remember that movie
My High School dayz....!! Lakeside, "It's All the Way Live" Somebody below repeated my earlier post on Tom Browne, "FUnkin' for Jamaica"...... Peace
A classic. My dad is a Cowboy but he had this album on the 8 track and this is when I fell in love with funk...Marvin Craig is on the bass and that's my favorite bass player of all time.. Steve is the name of the guitars and he played on a double guitar..they have some other hits too

And another one sampled!
