My top new collector mistake: don’t buy characters you sorta like just because they might be cheap or something. Get the ones you want for a viable reason.
Couldn’t agree more. In the beginning I bought clearance figures like crazy to fill shelf space
Would far rather pay three times as much for one figure I really want than retail for 3 figures I think are just meh.
All this advice here is so true. Especially not buying three $10 figures when you could save that money for one $30 figure that you actually really want!
I like them all!
@Wayne Blackwell world building? 3 different Earth's? Can you explain what this is/means? Do you have a channel?
Mistake number 1: Starts collecting action figures lol
Lol. Action figures: Not even once!
@Wayne Blackwell oh me neither. Just a joke about how much it sucks you in. I love the hobby. It brings me so much unexplainable joy.
😅
😂
This comment is most underrated and most true ,it’s basically addiction like crack 😂
The mistake I can’t stop making ?
Hunting for a particular figure, not finding it, coming back with a lot of others to comfort myself.
Lol oh I've purchased so many 'consolation' figures!
Haha yer been there, and you look at them in shame afterwards, knowing you only bought them because you know you ain’t leaving empty handed haha.
I went to Target not too long ago searching for NECA TMNT, came back with only a Netflix WFC Wheeljack
But that figure still kicks ass, I wasn’t expecting much… but… damn
I have almost 0 of these problems because I only collect what I find in yard sales, flea markets, thrift stores and such. I'm just happy with whatever I end up with. Might be damaged, might be missing pieces. Picked up a whole box of 90's Predator/Alien, Godzilla and miscellaneous for 3$ the other day at a thrift store 😊
Here's my advice for any toy collector. Try your best to have an end goal in mind.
Most collectors tend to fall in a rabbit hole
An end goal is definitely advisable. Granted my end goal was 'Sinister six' and I blew past that a loooong time ago! :)
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour it’s like a drug
Yer tried that one and yet somehow the goal keeps changing!😂 it’s not my fault it’s all these toy companies making newer and better lines…… I’m only human haha
My Marvel Action Figures end goal is getting that Marvel Universe Galactus
The end goal true collect is “Everything.”
“You’ll never be satisfied” well that hit pretty hard hahahaha
Lol I know right? That hit me where I leave!
So true...
@Wayne Blackwell hey, coincidentally a British team just came out called "The Union" (it premiered during King in Black and I have the first 2 issues!). Britannia was the leader(RIP) but she died in the 1st issue! The other members (so far) are Union Jack, Snakes, Kelpie, and The Choir. It's pretty cool and if ur lucky u should still be able to get issues 1&2 out now. I have the variants of those issue, also! Happy hunting!
😀
LMFAOO I have a gapeing hole to fill
Don’t get a bad figure just because you like the character. Make sure it’s a good figure too, with decent sculpting and enough articulation. If you do want the bad figure because there are no other options for that character, get it at a discounted price.
Great advice. Sometimes we're guilty of convincing ourselves to get figures that we don't really want.
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour yeah, I was guilty of it in the past. For example, when the first GOTG movie came out, I bought the ML Star Lord figure because there were no figures of him before. The figure was pretty bad though, his face looked nothing like Chris Pratt, the helmet was the wrong color, and the plastic felt “gummy”. Fortunately, for the sequel of GOTG, Hasbro made a much improved Starlord figure. But i still kick myself for buying the first one.
I totally identify with Mistake #1. When buying Spidey figures, I'm always nervous around Spider-Girls/Women thinking if I buy one, I'll wind up with the whole Spiderverse.
It's just the easiest rabbit hole in the world to fall in to.
This dude sitting in his apartment talking about the plastic toys we collect ... is entertaining as all get out!!
Man I think I found my niche this last year!
As an on again off again collector for nearly four decades I can say you have some damn good advice here
Thanks man, I've been at this game for about 2 decades now, on and off like yourself so I've made plenty of goofs in my time!
My number one mistake was not properly researching what to buy when I started. I ended up spending a lot more for figures without doing the proper research first.
Man I hear you. I need to look before I leap!
my # 1 advice (not a mistake): know what you are collecting, narrow down your scope and don't collect just for collecting.
-Bayformers first movie studio series transformers and decepticons. CHECK
-Marvel Legends X-Men 90s cartoon (the ones in the intro) CHECK
-Marvel Legends MCU Avengers (the ones in the avengers video game) CHECK
-SH Figuarts, Revoltech, Figma shonen jump characters (my favorites) CHECK
That way you don't waste money and time with figures you don't need. (that end up in a box in the closet)
That totally makes a lot of sense. I always start with these intentions and then it always spirals rapidly out of control!
I 100% agree with #10
I see so many collectors talking about wanting to have every figure in a line or wanting to complete a set. They basically fall into this rabbit hole where they feel obligated to have a big collection or everything in a line. Then what happens is something that they ACTUALLY want is announced and they realize that all of their space is taken up by figures that they “wanted”. That’s when they sale some of them. This can easily be avoided by setting intentional limits and only prioritizing characters that you love. I don’t have all the characters or figures from certain lines, but I got the ones that matter to me so that’s more than enough. It helps to have a practical mind when approaching this hobby.
That’s so true!
wow this actually is a great advice for me. Ben 10's Bandai Alien Collection Wave is so huge and if I do what you're saying it'd be more affordable and enjoyable i guess. No need to collect every character or every variant of a certain character. Just get the ones that matter u the most
I definitely spend beyond my means. Im also guilty of thinking I have to own everything I even kind of like.
I know what you mean Devin. In my miss-spent youth I was definitely prone to spending more than I had. It's taken me this long to finally learn to exercise a little self control!
#1 for me is buying stuff that you don't usually collect because there is nothing to buy for some time. Like Fortnite or TMNT, Godzilla etc. Stick to your main lines and put your money away for when your favorite figures are available.
Oh I've got to admit I'm bad for this too. I love getting new figures so much that if I go a long time with no new Legends I'll just think "Well what else do I want?"
What did u look in my closit!?? Lol literally just got. A godzilla cause he was 12$ and 2 fortnite figs i dont usually collect
I try and collect TMNT and Godzilla and both can be very hard to find, so yes please don't buy them if you are not really wanting it 😆.
Biggest mistake is overpaying for figures I only overpaid for the Walgreens Mystique and the Nimrod three pack but I tend to wait on some stuff to go on clearance
Oh i've been guilty of that too. I've definitely paid way more than something is really worth in the past!
I recently got the old kaine Parker marvel legend for 91 canadien dollars which is like 55-60 American and ur own of the best things I’ve ever bought no regrets
I’ve been collecting toys since 1994 and the biggest lesson I learned over the years (that wasn’t mentioned in your list) is putting too much stock in other people’s opinions of your collection. Never buy something you don’t really want just because you think other collectors will be impressed with it. This is especially prevalent with the “gotta get it before everyone else, then brag about it online” collectors.
It's very true man that being part of a community can have it's problems. I've definitely bought figures that I might not have if I didn't see people getting so excited about them online.
Haha you mean like most people who collect hot toys over at the sideshow freaks forum?
That's a terrible way to collect. You'll end up with a bunch of stuff you don't really want
lol i slept on pre-ordering the retro spider man and now he’s $50
Same but luckily i managed to get him at $33
He'll be back in some form. You'll get another chance.
He’s up on BBTS
Check Gamestop I got him last week for $22. US $ they always bringing new merchandise every week
@@leandrorojas299 not on my gamestop its always the same ones everytime i walk in there
LOL Its almost like having two hosts lol
I have to say even though it takes a long time to edit it was actually really fun watching myself back like this.
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour I bet it was a huge amount of work to put this together in the end, well worth it Bravo!
Ok
Action figures always work into my budget, even when money gets tight I try to fit at least a nice little ebay deal in here or there
I know what you mean. That's where it pays to route around on ebay and see what you can find!
THANK YOU for bringing up the sun. I see so many people make these mistakes and nobody really talks about it
Lol I don't want to see figures suffer the same fate that so many others have. If I can save just one X-Man from getting sun bleached it'll have been worth it!
Another mistake new collectors make is related to #9. Thinking that just having a figure still in the package means big bucks later on. It can of course but not if everyone else has the same idea. A MIP 1985 GI JOE Snake Eyes costs a hell of a lot not just because it's still in the package but because it was popular and well over 90% of the ones that were made were opened and played with. Where as almost ANY of the Star Wars Power of the Force figures released in the 90s are still going for pretty much what they cost at retail because Hasbro released a lot of them and many of them were kept in package when purchased so the secondary market got flooded and is still flooded to this day.
Yeah i'd say you're right. Just like with comics on the 80's /90's once people realised they could be worth something they started mass producing and looking after them perfectly hence ensuring that nothing new ever became scarce.
Thank you for saying something about people who buy up every figure to sell on Ebay... I watched a guy pull every DC figure off the pegs at a Toys R Us . He got banned from the store for being WAAAY too aggressive (blocking the aisle, pushing in front people, cursing, name calling)
Wow it's crazy to hear that and even more crazy that I can completely believe it!
I can’t stress the importance of pre orders. The initial ultimate battle armored lost predator pre orders on BBTS sold pretty freaking quick, I’m happy I didn’t hesitate.
Can't argue with that. Nothing worse than having to pay over the odds for a brand new figure.
The tips about the sunlight are crucial for any new collector. Made that mistake in my early collecting days too now I have figures with weak joints and faded paint
It's such an easy mistake to make and I have to admit that purely due to space limitations I'm a little guilty of that even now.
And I wonder if putting them up in the attic is a bad idea. Would the heat damage the figure?
@@AceGoodheart Depends on the heat where you live and the plastic and rubber used for the figure. There are reasons why the Spider-Man Classics Morbius is difficult to find with a well-preserved face.
to add on to the eBay thing , DO NOT BUY EBAY LISTINGS WITH ONLY PROMOTIONAL PHOTOS/POPULAR PHOTOS FROM A PERSON!!
100% definitely something suspicious about that!
A tip I'd like to share for online buying, especially eBay, check who the courier company is. I've had packages go "missing" several times due to a certain UK courier.
That's a very good point. I think I know who you're referring to!
LMAO your Jeff Goldblum impression was on point! haha
He's like Michael Cain and Al Pachino, everyone has a Goldblum!
My biggest mistake is that I won’t actually go hunting for figures when they come out a lot so if I miss it I’ll literally spend infinity money on the one i missed out on I need to start hunting more
Since missing out on Psyloke I always buy the figures I need right away
It's a tough way to learn but we've all gotta do it!
I love how passionate he is when he's talking about action figure. You just earned a new subscriber. Love from Malaysia! ❤🇲🇾
Hi Syahmie, thank you so much for checking out the channel. Welcome to the party. Lots more passionate videos to come! :)
Out of all of the points, the sunlight ones terrify me. Fortunately I got some good positioned shelves and quite thick curtains.
My tip is regarding army building. Always Pre-order. Stormtroopers/Clone troopers are a pain to get a hold of.
I know what you mean.I saw the Hand ninja's disappear fast from online retailers as soon as they went up for pre-order.
Put in the pre-order, and you will never be done, really hit home for me. I can't tell you how many figures i regret not pre-ordering. That secondary market can be brutal. And if you're a completest, pic 2-3 lines, and cherry pick your favorites from the rest.
I unsubscribe to the top “influencers” within the toy community because they often come off as elitist over toys which is crazy to me . They bad mouthing figures or properties solely for not being something they are into. Your videos are always fair and positive even if some figures aren’t perfect
Hey thanks man, I always try to keep an even keel on things.
thanks for this david, made a mistake with a buyer with a sob story...gave him a deal, then he flipped it at a more expensive price
Ah don't feel bad Andrew, sometimes that's the only way to learn!
Collect what bring you joy if by chance it becomes valuable that just the icing on the cake you'll still have enjoyment
Truer words were never spoken! :)
I AM actually almost done with X-Men!
Every X-Men-related team I have only needs maybe 1 or 2 more characters?
Technically, the Spider-Man list is running pretty low too, but that's more likely to always find something else.
(Running out of money too. This pandemic situation is becoming a real issue... >_>)
I hear you brother, this lockdown has finally reached breaking point for my finances. I was living of my Disney contract money this last year and supplementing it with bar work. Now the pubs are closed they old money bank is running dry. Hopefully things pick up soon!
Great video. Subbed! I began collecting in 2nd half of 2020, and I'm decluttering some of it now. Guess I got carried away by a lot of figures that are on sale. Now I'll save up and get the figures I really want- and that sun tip that's nice, wish my mom will view this vid just for her to believe me LMAO.
Lol the mothers are the troops but sometimes they just don't get it! I totally need to do some decluttering too but man it's so hard to let those figures go!
one mistake i made when i started collecting power ranger figures and toys was assuming that the higher the price the better the product, not true, on ebay most sellers tend to price things based on what price they've seen that thing go for on ebay, which means sometimes you're paying only a couple of quid for your favourite bits, but then hundreds for your poxy white ranger yellowed by age not screen accurate saba, as a collector it is up to you to decide if you think the price is fair for what you want, supply and demand on ebay gets weird because sometimes even when a product is popular and frequently being sold that doesn't mean the prices comes down, often it's the opposite, when a niche item that is rare, vintage etc that doesn't often show up and when it does it just sits there for months on ebay, the sellers usually whack up the price thinking some poor sod will accept it, don't fall for it, with patience even the rarer stuff will be obtainable for a fair price. also everyone's obsessed with retro shit being flawless condition, you can save a lot of money collecting if you are one of the few who doesn't mind your toy being previously played with.
That's such a good point. Sometimes you really have to be collecting a while to know what things are worth and how pricing works. Some of that understanding an knowledge can really only come with time.
My top new collector mistake is having no Focus and buying anything i kinda like . Wich resulted in a really random Collection.
Sometimes I gotta say though a random miss-match collection can sometimes be really fun to go through. I'm very happy having incorporated some Neca in to my shelves.
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour Yeah, I personally don't care about sticking to one brand or theme, I buy what I like because I like it. And if some of my collection seems random... Who cares right?
same with me...marvel legends...dc multiverse..kamen rider...ultraman...anime characters.
I just found out about your channel and ive been loving every single video i watch, i binge watch them while i fix my Marvel Legends collection, keep up the amazing content :)
Hey thanks man! It’s great to see new folks are still discovering the channel!
Amigo, great video. Great attitude and advice for new and beginners. Keep up the great job looking forward for the next video
Thanks so much Gimi. Knowing me you won't have to wait long for the next video!
#1 should be be don't let youtubers influence you into buying toys. If you don't know a figures origin story you don't need the toy.
I absolutely agree! By the way have you seen the Stilt-Man wave? It looks awesome and is available now at all good retailers.
The number 1 mistake I've made collecting action figures is being inpatient. I end up spending extra to have figures NOW! Rather then waiting a little bit until I can actually afford them or buy them at retail.
Lol oh boy I hear that!
Stumbled on your video by accident and found it informative ! Nice one mate, subscribed ✊🏽👍🏽
Hey thanks Faisal, I really appreciate you checking out the channel. Glad you enjoyed the content!
this is the video that I didn't know I need, but it really helps me a LOT!!!! Thanks!!!
Great video David, my your channel has grown quickly I remember when it was around 100 love your energy. Keep it up bub
Ah man, you're one of the OG viewers. We've come a long way!
My number one mistake is serial buying, and my second is committing to an eBay item before I see a better version available
Yep, I can 100% identify with both of those!
Thank you for making this video! I'm gonna start collecting soon (ya I know I'm late to the party) and I've been nervous because I don't know if I'll mess something up and bummed out.. so this video really helps me know what I have to not do. Once again thank you!
Hey thanks man. I'm really glad to be help to help folks getting in to the hobby!
Omg! So I'm just catching up on some of your old videos and...is this the ORIGIN of your dual-costume vids??? That's such a unique and awesome feature of your vids that I'm flabbergasted to find this "origin story"!
Lol that was a little experiment to stand out!
This video is a breath of fresh air from all the other Marvel Legends video out there. I am only a new subscriber but I am very much enjoying your content. Your channel definitely stands out in my opinion.
Jose thank you so much my friend. I'm trying as best I can to try and bring something a little different to the community :)
My favorite video from you so far. Keep up the good work. 👍🏿
Thanks so much brother, my style is always evolving and I think that I might have hit upon something here!
Great video, man. I totally feel this. Especially auxiliary characters. I need to go through my bins and purge to make space for more storage lol.
Dude it's so tough, there are so many figures on my shelves that I arguably don't really need but damn I can't bare to part with them.
I just watched your video and you are so spot on. I have felt all of these the whole time. Thank you for posting. 😃
Another great top 10, Dave. When you said you got into the legends for the women, for some reason, I shouted out a Ric Flair " Woooooooooo! " Lol. Keep up the great work 👍
That's because I'm the Lear jet flyin' Limousine ridin' kiss stealin' wheelin' dealin' son of a gun of the action figure community! Wooooo!
Not checking multiple retail sites for a figure you want to order. Case in point, I bought that deluxe Archangel off Amazon for $44, only to see later that BBTS had it for $32.
You're absolutely right Diesel, it pays to shop around!
Fun video, keep up the good work! For me the biggest adjustment was learning to resist the siren call of completing BAFs... makes it much easier to avoid blowing the budget and the "collect everything!!" mentality. but it helps a lot that Hasbro has been re-releasing the more popular BAFs in recent years
The worst thing I've managed to do a couple of times is deciding I don't want the wave and just buying the BAF on it's own and then over time assembling the wave anyway so I might as well have just bought it all in one go and saved the money! Live and learn!
Those were very interesting because I'm kinda newbie here. Especially 2nd point made an impression on me 😆
And grats for your new uniform! Looks cool and even cap looks good for that 😉
Arigato Piaggio, i'll tell Juanita you appreciated the present she got me :)
Your personality that you put on every video is so nice and have a good vibe, i dont know why, but i really like your content bro.
Hey man, thank you so much. I'll keep the good vibes coming!
Hi guys. Okay, I live in Southeast Asia in the tropic. I will like to highlight one problem those of us living in the humid regions face, and that is mould and fungus. Mould and fungus can grow on figures, causing discoloration and ugly stains. The damage is usually permanent.
It happens for action figures and anime figures mostly made from PVC. Less so for Gundams and Transformers, largely because of the material.
Having a humidifier etc helps.
Also, if you guys think that leaving a figure in the box and never taking it out means that the figure will always stay in pristine condition, man, you are in for a rude shock a few years down the road.
Man I never thought about mold, that's a serious consideration. One thing we don't have to worry about in the UK is humidity!
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour Have you any action figures you never take out and leave in the box for years? Have you taken them out years later and discover problems?
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour I will like to ask. Have you ever had a situation where, you don't take a figure out of the box because it is more important than the rest. You think the safest place is in the box where it came from.
But then a few years later, you open the box, and you're like, "OMG, WTF HAPPENED HERE?!"
Ever had that experience?
In México we used to call them "muñecos" ( kind of "dolls for boys", even if we are talking about Emma Frost, for instance), and they were cheap. But as soon as we upgraded the term to "Action Figures", the price went up 10 times. Hence, to bargain and get good deals, we have to denigrate the AF by saying: how much for this "doll for boys"? Once the deal is closed, we can make the peaces with the AF at home, the same way you did it with your Spidey : )
Hi Tygrus. I hear you about the prices shooting up! Now the majority of collectors are adults the prices reflect that
Great video... I can see I wasn't the only one doing the same mistakes. That's why I got rogue as soon as she was available and that is why I have a budget. I also suggest collectors to do a list of characters they want (specially if they don't exist), because it eventually is going to be made, that way we don't loose ourselves on figures that are being constantly released and we think we need them just because they are new and well made (we always have to think: do we really need this figures?). I think by making a list like this we can get ahead of the toys manufacturers and not letting them decide for us what to buy, but rather wait for them to release what we want, because they eventually will(I'm looking at you Hasbro). Cheers.
So true Gastao, there's something kinda nice about knowing that we've all been there and had the same experiences and often the same mistakes that go along with them.
Making a list is definitely a great suggestion and something I do too.
Eventually it's going to be made? Geez I hope so, still waiting on half my list of most wanted characters.
I have no real intentions of getting into figure collecting, but it's still super interesting to get a perspective on what to do and what not to do. However, I finally pulled the trigger on getting a hold of a DMC 5 Vergil statue made of PVC since he's one of my all-time favourite VG characters, and was wondering if there was one way and one way only on how to display it. I was kinda worried about even leaving it out of its box, that it had to be in a certain environment, etc. I'm glad this was somewhat disproved here, and having it NOT sit in direct sunlight makes perfect sense which is also what I thought, so thanks for the confirmation on that! :D
Hey thanks for watching. I’ve seen some amazing looking DMC statues!
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour No problem, you're great fun to watch! :D
And absolutely! Went for the Kotobukiya version of the Vergil statue, since the other one was way taller, like 1/4, so I didnt have space. More importantly, it was also five times as expensive haha
Great video!!!! Also cool Bullet Club hoody!
F-f-f-4 Life good brother! (Except AJ Styles)
Cant get that i need everything mindset out. that hit me LOL . You speaking facts! hahaha
new to your channel loving every vids mann keep it up💪🏼

Hey thanks so much man. Let me know how the collection restructuring goes!
Thanks for the tip bro. Very helpful,
And as usual, great vid. 👍👌✌️
Thanks brother. I'm happy to share the good advise around!
Awesome channel. Keep up the very good work 👍
Hey Jon, great to see you on here brother. Thanks for checking out the channel!
Your channel is so great holy crap
Testify and spread the good word brother! :)
My problem is that I had to wait decades for reissues on a lot of figures I wanted because of those people looking to get rich. 150-300 bucks on a 3 inch figure, come on guys… then they did reissues on almost all the characters across multiple shows that I wanted, so now instead of maybe spending a couple hundred at a time, I’ve spent over a thousand this year. I’m dying over here
"Sold As Seen" isn't necessarily nefarious. A lot of the time the seller doesn't really know what they're selling, and might not remember what's missing, so it's just kind of a way of covering your ass JUST IN CASE.
That's very true, I appreciate that some folks might simply be selling stuff they're unfamiliar with so yeah I would add to that advice that it's important to do your own due diligence so that you know what you should be looking for.
Thank you for a great informative video. Please keep them coming....cheers!
My pleasure!
New sub here, you are fantastic bro, loved it🤘😁
Welcome to the party Dave! :)
Great video. Love the bullet club sweatshirt. Didn’t know about the sun one but made sense once you said it.
Glad to dish out the useful advise. Too sweet me!
This has been the best list. You nailed everything!
Aw thanks man. Makes me making all those mistakes worthwile! :)
Sometimes people put "showed as seen" because they don't know what the figure is supposed to include. I'm about to list a bunch of figures that I've had loose and I don't remember what came with whom. I think I'll do a pretty good job of figuring it out, but I don't remember everything. So I'll have to state that it's as shown in the picture. I'm not trying to pull a fast one. I have over 40 figures to list and I don't have time to inventory everything in the descriptions that most people probably won't read anyway. It's easier to just show the picture and state it's as shown.
I can appreciate that. I think I was just salty over several negative 'sold as seen' experiences. I can appreciate that plenty of sellers such as yourself don't have any kind of nefarious intentions! :)
Love your energy ❤ Good man! I'm one of those newbie trying to get everything collectors haha! I need this and that and those and these! Vintage and new 🤩 Family thinks I'm going nuts! Best regards from Belgium 🙏
There’s some great advice there. Any advice I’d give is to reach out to other collectors for help. I’m sure you already do this and it’s something that I love to do. I love helping people out with values and websites etc. Also you’re totally right about just one more. I’ve managed to collect every G1 figure now I want them in different packaging etc! It’s a crazy spiral
That's a really good point. One thing that has been such a great surprise about getting in to this hobby is just how great the collector community is!
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour could not agree more. I’ve been on RUclips 10 months now and genuinely I feel that I’ve made loads of new friends. Thank you for making this video! I've started to get back into collecting marvel Legends after I lost 90% of my entire collection. I definitely made most of these mistakes when I first started collecting. I'm gonna try my best to not make these mistakes now
Hey you're welcome Swift! I'm definitely guilty of most if these. It's all a learning experience!
Now this is a great video bro!
Thanks brother!
Love the Bond reference! Thanks for the tips. I do have somewhat of a fear of missing out because I passed on a figure that I would later want.
Awesome video of top ten mistakes. Also beautiful advice. I have learned that I'm doing everything wrong, but at least I'm not a nasty dirty spectulating scalper!
Lol in that case you're one of the good guys!
I feel like there’s two daves talking to me at once. It hurts
Lol that was an experiment :)
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour it was kinda cool to be fair XD
I agree with your comments regarding eBay generally but as someone that resells thrist store finds on eBay, I try to research what each item is, where it came from, if it came with accessories, etc. but I'm far from an expert. I don't think most sellers aren't trying to hide anything, we just don't know all the details. So, to make sure the buyer is able to determine if it's the right item for them, I personally take tons of pictures and invite questions. If I know accessories are missing, I do point it out but I might not know as I have 100s of items to research and may have missed something. But, check pictures carefully and ask questions. I never mind answering questions or sending additional pictures if requested. I personally want the buyer to be happy.
Hey man, by the sounds of things you're definitely one of the good guys when it comes to ebay sellers! Fair play for taking the time to research everything when you clearly have so much to go over too. Nice work!
I have a question if you have artwork I. The background of your RUclips video and you monetize the video can you get copy right infringement for having the art work displayed,do you know
I think you’re safe in that regard. I don’t know for certain but I think it’s too small of thing to ruffle any feathers.
Thank you so much for your time
Collecting action figures for money is a very big mistake. My brother was buying Hot toys and use to wait until they go up in value to try to sell them, only problem is nobody want to pay $600 or $700 for a Hot toys so they all stay on ebay at that price. The question is do action figure really go up in value if nobody want to pay more than the cost price.
You're absolutely right bud. Things are often listed at prices that folks would never pay!
Awesome video man we have been collecting for 5 years and we never know some of these tips!!!!!
I'm still learning new tips, tricks and bits of advice every day!
Love the video. Very informative. A follow for the video and a "follow" for the Jeff Goldblum impression!
Goldblum for the win once again! :)
Loved this video really good reminder for us collectors still collecting 👌
Lol I don't think we need any more motivation to keep collecting!
Really good advices lol. I always want everything but in the end i control myself and only get what i really really want. Sometimes i get any figure that seems good and cheap when i cant find the one i want and i later regret it, gotta stop that habit lol
I'll admit that it's easier to give the advice than to follow it! :)
I just bought my very first collectors figure. It was the Mezco One:12 PX ex. Cable (My fave character) and I want all of them now. I'll definitely do pre orders and keep a narrow focus on just getting figures specifically from this company for now. I am a big fan of how they look. Also subscribed to your channel. Very helpful video! Thanks!
Welcome to the channel brother. That Cable looks amazing!
Love your videos mate!!!! My worst mistake is cancelling a pre order by mistake and not being able to re-purchase!!! Only went on to check the status🙈
Oh dude, that's definitely a heartbreaker!
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour oh yes, just been reading some of the other guys responses and wow there’s a lot haha!! I’m trying to keep my collection small but mighty but so many good ones are out there it hard to stick to your plan or even choose argghhh
Nailed it. All of it. Great video dude!
Thanks so much brother. I think I might have to do a sequel to this. Top 10 BEST things new collectors can do!
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour Great idea man, I think that'd make for some great content we'd all watch!
Cool video. The one other thing that comes to mind is not falling for the double dip. It is not necessary to buy every reissue of a figure just because they repackaged it in a shiny new box or updated the paint a little.
But he has a new hat....I mean hammer! :)
I gotta agree though if I had the classic surfer this would have been a harder purchase to make.
Yeah I just buy unique looks/sculpts.
Ur good. I really enjoyed watching this video. Great vibes.
Thanks MM, I aim to keep it that way
I'm new here and I'm staying great work so fun to watch
Thanks brother. Welcome to the channel!
It's still tricky even without trying to collect everything, actually spent more than I had to just trying to get the figures of characters I really liked. So really good list! Still relatable even though I'm not really collecting them or even planning on selling them.
Thanks for watching Harold. I definitely ended up paying out a lot of money just to get the initial figures I felt were 'essential' for my collection.
Probably a more modern one, but you don't need to preorder everything. That has been a source of many regrets, paying full price for things you forgot about.
While taking funds away from an actual trip to a toy store or convention.
Also if you know a toy is going to be a whole project to find the display space, or assemble while you have a stack of other projects. Don't buy it right away.
Try and avoid adding projects to your collection that will be a burden.
Yeah I've come a cropper from pre ordering before!
I HAVE TO GET EVERY SPIDER-MEN !!
I'm like JJJ but with figures
Lol that's me too. Constantly pounding on my desk and demanding someone bring me figures of Spider-Man!
