In this video I made the choice to replace those old and brittle wires that was installed from the factory, with a new 21 circuit wiring harness. Since this is “Modified” Mustang, I wanted to have the ability to add other options to the car that an oem wiring harness couldn’t provide.
If you are working on your classic 64,65,66 Ford, this video might not be what your looking for, but I do have several videos that address replacing and repairs on OEM parts on your classic Mustang. Be sure to “SUBSCRIBE” and check out those videos on my channel: / michaeled

Awesome video! I'm about to rewire my 65 mustang with a very similar kit. I've been stressing thinking about the ignition switch. Your video has given me piece of mind. Thanks!

This video should help me with my 65 mustang. I bought a kwik wire full harness ford kit. It was the cheapest kit I could find.

I used a similar wiring Harness from speedway in my 67 it had everything i needed and then some. My dad has an american auto wire harness in his 67 and it had a few ford specific features like the headlight switch and some wiring for the wiper system. All in all i dont think the name brand harnesses are worth the money.

Im using a similar harness, any chance that I can get some pictures of what you did with ignition swicth and the wiring going to the starter solenoid. Not really understanding how to go from gm to ford.

I totally understand, I felt the same after unraveling that mess of wires!!
Best advice I got that help me through it was that GM has to have a ground for each positive (hot) wire. Ford uses the chassis as it’s
negative (ground) and most connections where just positive (hot)
As far as your wiring up your dash goes you need to ground your negatives to the firewall or underside of dash so the when you install the switches they’ll ground out.
Pretty much how all your connections will go. Tail, turn, reverse light all need there own ground to work. Just attach the harness ground (neg) wire to the housing bucket of the light.
That’s what I did so that each connection had a good ground.
You could mass ground all the wires to the chassis, but if you ever have a ground issues, most all you components might not work.
      That’s my thinking.
The starter solenoid is wired up as factory to the relay on the inner fender and using a 1990ish alternator.
Email me your email, or dm me on Instagram and I’ll send you some pics of the wiring set-up if you need’em.
