That shrinking universe episode was so clever. Beverly Crusher being gaslighted by the very reality she's in, people vanishing and nobody (besides her) having any idea they ever existed. And when she's talking to herself about the issue, to responses a 'confused' computer unable to answer her rhetorical questions.
@Dre Marshall Thanks to AI voice replication we already have a near-perfect GLaDOS synthesiser. It should be feasible to create one for Majel Barret as well.
Meanwhile in the 21st century, *Siri/Cortana please set an alarm for 2pm* "Calling mum", *No, Set An ALARM For 2 P M* "Checking google for two DMs" ...??? *Jesus, SET AN ALARM FOR 2 P M* "Confirm yes, to shut down phone" *I give up* "Calling suicide hotline" *Fuck off Siri/Cortana*
0:50 Holy cow! After Data locked all command and INQUIRY functions to the bridge, the computer answered Picard's INQUIRY about where command functions can be accessed!
17:22 i cant begin to put into words how insanely great this episode was and how expertly the tension is built there. Star trek TNG had some really great episodes and moments. everything that came after it isnt even remotetely close.
I think they actually confirmed it was him. Spiner has demonstrated he can do a scarily accurate impression of Patrick's voice on several occasions. And if you listen closely when he is doing the voice, it sounds slightly off, especially when he says the word "sequence".
im almost certain theyve talked about the computer with each other, i probably pops in for a second, realizes no ones talking to it, and then unactivates
I'd like to imagine that to activate the computer it needs to be said/voiced as a command. As you notice when called out that the word "Computer" is always emphasized, especially the "Com-" part so likely the software recognizes 'a command type' voice to start activation. And because of this simply saying "computer" in a regular sentence will not activate it.
Majel Barrett. "She was best known for her roles as various characters in the Star Trek franchise: Nurse Christine Chapel, Number One, Lwaxana Troi, and the voice of most onboard computer interfaces throughout the series from 1966 to 2023.Wikipedia"

No computer interface comment on the enterprise will ever top Voyager’s computer telling Janeway to get her own coffee
More Accurately, "Make it Yourself" i think it was the Q2 or Q-jr. 🤷🏿♂️
Or the computer telling its the last chance for the doctor to be a hero.

God I miss Majel as the computer
@Dre Marshall Yes, on the pain of death. Well, maybe that is a little extreme.

she will be missed forever 😥
Her voice has been recorded so a Siri like version w her voice is possible. They need to make this happen ASAP.
I love the parts where they're trying to think through a problem and asking critical questions to the computer to help.

Now we can do the same with ChatGPT
There probably could be a degree of that IRL, just most people don't live on ships/starships nor have the array of challenges they do in TNG.
they are talking to AI of course but now in 2023 this makes so much more sense
at 4:34 you can see camera reflection in the mirror across from where she is standing.
Oooh, good catch!
Data is fucking unstoppable...Plot withstanding, of course.
ChatGPT brought me here.
0:50 Holy cow! After Data locked all command and INQUIRY functions to the bridge, the computer answered Picard's INQUIRY about where command functions can be accessed!
Season 4 was a good season.
With so much of her audio still available I really wish they would give us all the honor of having Her is one of the voices for ai assistants.
3:53 listen and learn: Critical questioning.
Top notch 👌
"Aha, gotcha there!"
Thank you so much for this 👏🏻
If I had to work on board a starship, I'd go batty with computer acknowledging responses!
Destruct sequence ONE. CoDE ONE. ONE-A. Execute.
Just beautiful, these are some of the best bits of the entire show.
The perfect computer voice

"Computer" is now here 300 years early! It's an AI app called Chat GPT......
Voice interfaces are not that responsive (yet).
Thank you for another great compilation. :)

STTNG's masterclass on promt querys (also chat gpt getting worked af)
Whaddya wanna bet that when Data was impersonating Captain Picard, Brent Spiner was really doing Patrick Stewart's voice in real time. 😂
I think they actually confirmed it was him. Spiner has demonstrated he can do a scarily accurate impression of Patrick's voice on several occasions. And if you listen closely when he is doing the voice, it sounds slightly off, especially when he says the word "sequence".
Imagine the security code to be inputed.
Majel did the best computer voice.
@01:50. Those cosmetic lenses that Brent Spiner had to wear must have been so painful. His eyes are red raw. 😐
Our computer voice-interactive devices today have names like Siri and Alexa. But no name for the computers in the 23rd and 24th centuries?
Data was a master hacker. Of course when ST:TNG was made I don’t think computer hacking wasn’t a thing.
Not true. See War Games.
He exposed a rather large flaw in the voice-directed computer interface that still wasn't changed after.
My thoughts created this universe. . .
Whoa! I know.
If my thoughts created this whole universe then how come I don't know Kung Fu? I'm the one that thought of it after all.
I was in Korea 2009-2013, my students ate this UP.
8:19 Even in the future, Google Search Sucks, it picks up on the backgrounds noise more than your voice.
The scenes where Barclay's holodeck prompts are denied for being inappropriate were not included.

lol
All I'm here to say is that my holodeck better have drains in the floor.
Love these posts with Majel Barrett's voice. The episode with the shrinking universe bubble looks fantastic. What is the episode title? Do you know?
"Remember Me" S4 E5
@@monkeyman767 I loved this episode, well any episode the writers had fun with the rules of the universe was a breathe of fresh air
@@defiant4eva Yeah it was a really good one, its a shame Crusher's other episode is....well...you know...
All of the Crusher/computer interactions in "Remember Me" are so classic. Just watching those alone makes me love this compilation.
Long before “Alexa” was a name…
'Alexa' is a diminutive for 'Alexandra', it's been a name for centuries.
Not the name Alexa... The Amazon Alexa 🙄
I've set my amazon devices to respond to 'computer' so watching star trek is a minefield.
11:07 Computer, delete my browsing history.
Thanks for the dataset 😉
4:32 you can see the camera jib crane in the reflection of the panel to the left of the turbolift

Wait, so the computer knew Data's exact location (and Picard's by extension) but still got tricked by Data playing a wav file of Picard?
Amazing that Ai assistants can do this now
Seriusly... it seems ChatGPT with Majel Barret's voice.
What episode was the bridge life support failure?
Man this is like tech pr0n
What’s the episode where Barclay becomes the computer?
The nth Degree
Amazon alexa, seri and google voice lol

it's so weird that they rely on voice print for authentication, it's hilarious easy to fake. Every cybernatic thing in the show did it.
so this is the video where pogo got this.
