This guy is NOT in the industry. He's just some schlub in some backwoods corner of the world, teaching himself (badly) and TRYING to pass this shit off as some kind of super secret insider tricks. It's not.
The advantage that I see is reduced profile of the corner edge. Cutting both pieces at 45° would produce a square corner on the outside, whereas this makes a good 45° outer edge. If the job called for a simple 90° corner, this is more work than needed. If the job calls for a corner with a reduced edge profile(for asthetics or fit), this does seem to be the easiest way to produce a 90 angle with a 45° sloped corner. Otherwise you'd need a third piece of steel on the outside.

The internet really is breeding a new level of stupid, two 45 cuts to make a triangular piece of tube, weld it to two square ends, no more waste than was cut off there and quicker and easier to get square, the video was edited, presumably to allow him to spend ages making it fit successfully
@@Slavicplayer251 Cut it at 45°.. then you have 2 bars with a 45° angle. 45+45 is 90.. this is super simple math lol.. Weld it up with zero waste and it can be done quicker. Probably not by you, as a basic grasp of something that resembles intelligence is required.

I don’t know why i struggle making clean cuts with the grinder using a cutting wheel. And the kickback is a problem. I’m cutting on the correct rotation of the wheel but still.
I love how some people will tell kids "go to school or you'll end up in trades jobs" I know more smarter people in trades than I do that spent that time in college 😂
