However, despite the unreal hype surrounding Freddy Adu, he pretty much disappeared from the spotlight throughout his career. However, not many people know what happened to Freddy Adu's career after he took over the football scene. I remember Adu from 2008 in AS Monaco and I'm really sad that he didn't make it. He was having so much potencial but at the end of the day not everybody are destined to be big thing and I hope He is happy and has things going well for him.
Hopefully Cavan Sullivan sees this and knows what pitfalls to avoid and become a star.

Freddy adu had too much pressure I think
I don’t think he was handled well either, the US wanted to profit money using him more than actually help develop him properly. Had Adu been in any other country like England, France, Brazil, etc, he probably would’ve still never reached the status of Pelé but he woudlve at least had a much more successful career.

Feel really sorry for Adu. It was t his fault, or his mother’s fault. He peaked too early I reckon. He definitely deserved more airtime - with some more focused training he would have been amazing.

Adu's problem was his muscles developed earlier than the rest of his age group, so he could physically dominate then when he got to the pros, that advantage had gone and he was under massive added pressure, I saw a similar thing in high school, there was a guy named Mike, in our first year in cross country he absolutely dominated everyone and won by miles, our last year when everybody's muscles had developed somewhat (Mike was still in decent shape) several guys beat Mike, his advantage had gone
So much potential to go down as the US‘s greatest footballer but too much pressure and horrible handling by the US led to him becoming nothing but a what if. Pressure either makes you crack or turns into a Diamond, for many legends like Messi or CR7 who were being hyped up as well, they turned into diamonds, unfortunately for Adu, he cracked

I have a strong feeling that another young US Star by the name of Cavan Sullivan will have the same fate but I’m hoping the best for him, while US Football is still not on a world class level but with time passing and the popularity of football in the US raising, I can definitely see the US start making themselves known.
While their 2024 performance in Copa America was just disappointing, with the right coaching I can see them at least making it to the quarter finals like they did in 2002 (arguably their greatest Team, in which they managed to beat a formidable Portuguese team by 3-2 and decent Mexican team 2-0, only losing to Poland in the group stage by 3-1 and Germany by 1-0 in the quarter finals).
Maybe Freddy can coach the USMNT 1 day who knows?
