- One of the first "mods" I do to every car I buy is de-badge it. And that hasn't changed with my new 2022 wrx. In today's video, I am removing the factory Badges off of my wrx, leaving it looking a lot cleaner!

Did the flathead make anyone else nervous? 😅
My eyes went WIDE lol

Makes me want to gift you a trim tool!
You made it harder for yourself. Next time blue tape around the letters, heat gun or hair blower, warm them up then you can’t dental floss or fishing line it off. If you get it warm enough your fingers will just do fine. Then using the heat gun again warm up remainder residue and remove glue with fingers if you can handle the warmth. Don’t let the heat gun pointed on one spot too long.
I used a hairdryer to heat up the tape and then used the floss and it came off super easy and fast.
I was going to say, a hairdryer makes this much easier.
Glad to have you bounce back !!! Excited to see more great contents to come!!
That startup issue happened to me one time before with 7k miles on the car. Havn't had any repeats since. Thanks for the short tutorial!
Heat the emblem up with a hairdryer and use the tooth floss the whole way. It came off in one piece. Why risk the scratch on the paint? Just a little goo gone and done.
Agreed! But instead of dental floss I use fishing line.
It's random. Mine is protuned and sometimes it takes 2 seconds to crank other times it turns on immediately. I figured maybe it was because of the ethanol ? 🤷♂️
It definitely seems like an issue with these VBs. I ran an E65 blend on my VA and it always fired right up even if it was in the single digits haha
Mine did the same thing a few days ago. Its been perfect before and since that one time.
I had that prolonged cranking “issue” in my ‘22 WRX, but it happened when it was 75 deg F outside. It’s only happened to me twice in 8k miles, and both times it did eventually start, but just cranked like 5 times longer than normal.
Funny. Mine has less than 100 miles and it took a little longer than it should have to start.
Mine had the same extended crank a couple times the first month I had it. Has not done it since then. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Great job removing the badges I've seen people do some horrendous things to try and remove them 😅😅. im gonna have to keep some floss in my tool box! I use a thin flat head screwdriver (pocket screwdriver works good). I basically do the same. I start with the bottom of the letters using my finger nail to pull away from the vehicle enough to get the flat head under the letter without touching the body. Then I just use a finger between the body and letter as leverage to pry the bottom of the letter off enough to be able to grab it. From there just yank down fast like you did and no adhesive sticks 😁👌. Its definitely best to do this as early as possible so the adhesive doesn't bake to the body. Also the adhesive comes off cleaner and more often with the letters rather than staying on the body when the vehicle is cold! ❄❄👌👌
Looks good! VB 💯
Mine started up weird one time around 1000 miles but im close 6000 and it hasn't happened again.
You can also use a heat gun or hair dryer to soften up the adhesive :)
I usually use that method on older cars where they're stuck on a little more it definitely works great!
This the way I used came off like easily
10k miles on my VB (driving up and down the East Coast) and have never had that happen to me. Magnetite Gray is such a nice color. Makes me miss my gray STI sometimes.
I had the same thing at about 100 miles (minus the TPMS light). Hasn't happened again and I'm at about 1000 miles (also in PA). I have seen some sort of issue with a fuel rail sensor that is a known issue causing the extended crank. Seems to be a relatively easy dealer fix update.
Ordered my magnetite grey vb for april. Will debadge or maybe change to matte black lettering instead. Thanks for the tutorials.
I would throw some gloss black ones on there. Would look factory but also pretty stealthy!
I'm at 12k miles and yesterday mine did the same thing, it was cranking but it didn't sound like the usual way it cranks. It started it up like it was dying. This wasn't a cold start either I had driven it earlier in the day, and the weather was decently warm.
Mine had that cranking issue once. Never happened again. Every once in awhile when I start the car the hill assist light will be on. But right when I put it in gear and move the car the light goes away
doesnt this gen have a system where is continuously cranks to pump oil throughout the engine without starting? i believe its new on the vb chassis
I’ve had the same issue about 4 times now at 5k miles.
Wasn’t worried at all my guy you have already shown you got those surgical hands on the cars😅
Happened to me a few weeks ago. 2 days in a row. Hasn't done it since
Looking good! We have stealth black badges we can send you if you'd like to try em out.
I really cant wait to see how she turns out. Glad I was here for the first "mod". You should get the gt trim splitter and skirts. Or aeroflow.
I'm actually partnered with Flow Designs australia. I had their splitter kit on my 2020 and I'll be getting their 2022 kit later this year when they release it! Should definitely add some agressiness to the car!
@@StreetInspired1 Flow Designs makes some killer stuff. I'd love to see what they come up with for the newer WRX. Im sure it will be sick.
the tpms sensors not working on new subarus are really common
Yeah subaru replaced it and told me its the 5th new wrx to have thay issue at this dealer.
@@StreetInspired1 my subaru forester 22 had that problem but as i put some miles on the car it fixed itself and hasn’t had a problem since
The tire pressure only shows up after driving for a short distance
Right, but the tpms warning light was on, and it wasn't showing up even when driving for a while. The dealership ended up fixing it. It was a bad sensor and I was the 3rd person to have that issue.
Why wouldn’t you just use that floss to cut the whole emblem and have zero chance of it breaking at all
I didn't do that because it would leave a ton of hard to remove 3m residue behind from essentially cutting the tape in half.
This happened to mine twice but hasn't happened since. I have around 4k miles at the moment
Mine did the long crank thing also. Also at around 100 miles. Fine since. Weird.
So did mine once.
It's probably the fuel rail issue, very common
Had the same issue with mine and it happened right after I took it home from the dealer and around 600 miles after the second time check engine light came on and turned out to be the exhaust cam gear wasn’t engaging properly and was all chewed up it took them 2 months to get the part and replace it
Holy crap. Hope it isn't anything that serious. It did it to me 3 times but has been fine ever since
Yeah after they got it fixed drove it to subie fest in PA and back and now I have around 7800 miles on it and hasn’t been a issue since hopefully yours doesn’t get to that point
Love the channel man! Any plans on upgrading brakes? There has not been a thorough video regarding upgrading the stick calipers
I definitely plan on upgrading them in the future when I get the extra money.
Mine has had a couple wierd starts as well. And the tpms doesnt show anything until you drive a bit. Let me know if you have any issues with the wheels chriping or binding when turning hard while reversing.
Hey random question, can you show how to pop off the sideview mirror covers, I've been trying with no luck and scared if I pull harder they will break
I could probably do that. I want to eventually add the turn signal mirrors
@StreetInspired1 Yes, that's exactly what I am trying to do.
why tho?
what solution was in the bottle?
That was just chemical guys speed wipe.
@@StreetInspired1 Thanks! I'm doing this to mine this weekend.
Mine did this a lot in the first 1000kms. In Australia you dont go to the dealer for problems with your car, theyll laugh you out of the building.
Usually, here in the States, they just tell you "we can't recreate the problem" and send you on your way. Lol
Will you be installing any mechanical lsd in the rear diff? or front diff?
Subaru terminals and battery aren’t the greatest and my car struggled to start as well with my VA WRX. So I cleaned the terminals and replaced the battery with a 650 CCA battery and haven’t had the issue since. I hope it’s just the battery. How much CCA does your Subaru battery have?
Why did you remove your badges from the car. I am curious about this
I just like the cleaner look!
@@StreetInspired1 cool thanks mate like your vid’s
Hopefully it was just a hiccup in the system. Sucks to have problems already. I thought about removing them all together like you did but ended up getting all the badges in matte black instead.
I like your videos but using a metal screwdriver is a bad idea for most people. Any small slip and you’re screwed. Heat and plastic no matter how new is the best.
I did mention to use a plastic pry tool instead. I've just done this so many times that I wasn't worried about messing up and didn't have any plastic toold on hand. I lost some of my tools on the move back from Florida and just used what I had available.
