Wheeler's such a great playoff pitcher. This was as dominant as I've ever seen him shove, almost a perfect storm for him to throw that gem. Game time with the shadows mixed with his best stuff combined for the dominance we saw over 7. I definitely feel fortunate to be able to head back home with at minimum a road split. The RUclips algorithm is ruthless, putting this video at the top of my Home feed, and I'm a Mets fan 😂😅 I'm not getting cocky, as there is still plenty of baseball left in this series. But man, I never realized how doom and gloom some other teams' postgame crews can be 😬
Yes, we can be doom and gloom excessively sometimes, but it’s entirely warranted here. We’ve been watching this team destroy itself for the past 3 months after the best 3 month start in team history. Fans and the media openly claimed they’d be rusty and heartless going into the NLDS. The team claimed all week that wouldn’t be the case, that they’d be ready to strike. We saw who was right last night and are reacting accordingly. The least the players can do is show some of that frustrated fire along with us. But for some asinine reason, they think that just giving robotic interviews about how they’re “not frustrated” and “that’s baseball” is the way to win us back over?! Kudos to the Mets, who actually want to win this thing.
@@AlanRaviAtchisonas a Mets fan, I’ll never expect anything to go easy. Having said that, the week off is a huge detriment that comes with the success of locking it up early and resting. The Mets have been running on exhaustion and adrenaline the past week with no downtime to get comfortable. Momentum is the only factor you can’t control, and the Mets are just figuring things out late in the game, it’s impossible to even sustain, how could they possibly just get shut down for 7-8 innings at a time but it’s like adversity has become a drug, and I’m gonna enjoy the ride and see what happens after today. The Phillies couldn’t possibly lose at home today in what could potentially be their last home game of the season could they?
I am beginning to think this team can’t play more than a half season . 2022 2nd half. 2023 2nd half. 2024 1st half. I wish I could get paid to only work half my scheduled time. At least they will be able to watch “The Turnaroind” from the comfort of a golf resort in the Caribbean.
Baseball is broken. This is coming from someone who has had a hard time watching it over the last 10-15 years. When the wildcard teams are routinely beating the division winners, something simply isn't right. I don't have the answers, but when over the last ten years or so the wildcard teams are generally beating the teams with more wins, you know something doesn't make sense with the league. The Phillies made the decision that they wanted to win the division this season, and I simply didn't understand why. Ask the Braves and Dodgers how much winning the division matters anymore.
@@TheMacdod Spoken like a true homer. Why would you care if they win the division next year if they move on and make it to the world series? This isn't about the Phillies, Mets, Braves, or Dodgers. It's about baseball as a sport. Something is wrong when the teams accruing the most wins in the regular season are routinely getting beat in the first round. It makes winning the division and winning the most games a useless goal. Baseball hasn't always been like this, but over the last 20 years, it has moved more and more towards the reality that the regular season means little. All a team needs to do is get hot at the right time and sneak into the post season. Once they do that, they have, according to recent evidence, a better chance at getting to the world series than the teams that won the most games in the regular season. The Phillies literally did this a couple years ago. I barely watch baseball anymore, so I have no real stake in any of it. If the Mets or Phillies win means little to me. All I know is that I used to love watching baseball. And now I can't sit through it, and a big reason for that is that I know the regular season is mostly irrelevant. The sport is in trouble, whether you want to see it or not.
Rob Thomson is ultimately responsible, end of story. Has been for the last three seasons. He’s the constant. He doesn’t even sound or look like he cares his tenure is on the line. There’s a pattern of choking here and it’s all linked to Thomson.

But Amaro is actually usually pretty terrible. Today he was actually giving the Mets credit for once.
Braves fan as well. That tool said wheeler is the cy young and there’s nothing to support it. 🙄 at least tell the truth and don’t be homers all the time.
I've been saying all yr this team is fool's gold. They padded their record early on subpar teams, and when they faced the better teams like the Guardians, Yankees, Twins, etc they got exposed. This is an undisciplined, home run or nothing lineup, they have ONE reliable starter in Wheeler, and a bullpen that got good numbers against subpar teams. They were one of the worst teams in baseball the second half of the season, which coincidentally came when they started playing better teams. And the fraud GM could've traded for Flaherty at the deadline to go with Wheeler, instead he brings in 3 stiffs who haven't helped us at all. This postseason is gonna be the most disappointing of all because they gonna lose to the stinkin Mets 😭.
You can't get a loss with your ACE in a 5 game series. This is the SAME WAY the Braves lost to the Phillies in 2022 & 2023, lose Game 1 at Home & breath life into the Phillies & never went back to Atlanta. In the Playoffs you have to put teams away & that first game is crucial for both teams but more important for the Home Team. Also why isn't your second best Pitcher Aaron Nola pitching Game 2?
No surprise, we knew it would go that way…no will to win. They’ve been tired for months. Thompson’s lack of emotion and urgency has rubbed off on the team he’ll be gone soon
I’m so tired of him. All nonchalant. Larry Bowa would’ve blown a gasket and have a heart attack from screaming. Charlie manual would’ve benched bohm the moment he has one of his little kid bat throwing tantrums. Rob lets this team walk all over him and they will not change for him. This team needs a fire lit under their ass and rob is the opposite personality of a manager to do that.
@@jeffrose3904no no no. They missed his spots. Every ball that got hit was a missed spot. Pitch calling isn’t all about the type of pitch that’s thrown, it’s the location too. And they missed the location. If they actually hit the spots he gave them they would’ve been weak ground balls.
Listening to the player interviews leaves something to be desired. They need to own up to the loss and fire the team up. They know they are in for a tough battle, they just don’t want to own up to the egg they laid. By all means this series is not over but my boys are on fire. LGM!
I can already see it. We get bounced and we fall into a pool of mediocrity for 8 years until we go on another 3 year tear. PHILLIES PROVE MY COMMENT WRONG
Met fan here. Wheeler was great, no doubt. But the late afternoon sun, the ball coming off of Wheeler's hand in sunlight and darting into shadow at 98 made Met batters just look silly. Once dusk settled in they could see the ball. After all, Iglesius in the 8th fouled off 10 pitches before getting a single. All those Met hits came off of pitcher's counts. Phillies pitchers just couldn't get that third strike.
The problem is Rob Thompson, he continues to mismanage pitchers, he doesn't have a feeling or the game, thats a game where Zach has to pitch all the way to the 8th inning, he just wasted a great pitching game by Wheeler.
Rob is so complacent n stubborn and he has no fire under him n its rubbed off on the team a while ago but u Can't blame Rob for this game , he relied on his high leverage guys n they blew it, wheels was at like over 115 pitches, gotta go to your bullpen best. @@jakes5460 I disagree with that because a manager has to have a feel for the game in which I believe Rob Thompson doesn't, he always does this to his pitchers, until Zach Wheeler was leaking oil, I would have kept him in because the Mets were intimidated by Wheeler as soon as Zack left the entire mets team were clapping a sigh of relief. As a manager in the first game at home against a very good Muts team, you want your Ace to go at least 8 (or 9) innings, unless Wheeler started to lose his effectiveness on the mound, which he didnt. Thomson is a nice guy, but he doesn't manage his pitching staff very well. Wheeler was pitching lights out as usual and probably could have finished the game. Typical Philadelphia baseball.

Same 😂 was thinking this morning I wonder if the Phills postgame is on RUclips and there it was at the very top
The Phillies couldn’t possibly lose at home today in what could potentially be their last home game of the season could they?

Baseball is broken. This is coming from someone who has had a hard time watching it over the last 10-15 years. When the wildcard teams are routinely beating the division winners, something simply isn't right. I don't have the answers, but when over the last ten years or so the wildcard teams are generally beating the teams with more wins, you know something doesn't make sense with the league. The Phillies made the decision that they wanted to win the division this season, and I simply didn't understand why. Ask the Braves and Dodgers how much winning the division matters anymore.
Mets will win the division next year and solve this problem for you.
How can we believe they will come back and win the next 3? Smh

Did you just call them Indians?! I am offended, Sir!
Show some emotion, Rob. Get pissed off.
Same crap as always. All these high paid sluggers can't hit a damn thing, and the bullpen blows up in a single inning.
