What's your favourite Roger Moore movie?
The Spy Who Loved Me
Jams bonde
Well, apart from The Saint, The Persuaders and Bond I struggle to come up with anything favorite.
The Man Who Haunted Himself

I met him when i was a young studio engineer back; the 70s . What a great guy . Totally exactly the same as you see him on tv . No diva no star attitude and while i was an assistant he made me a cup of tea . Serious class .

I could listen to Roger Moore for hours - witty, charming, great voice. A master of self-irony and ease
I remember seeing him pick up his youngest child every afternoon from our school in Nice. He was still James Bond at the time.
Roger Moore had two character traits that most modern Hollywood types don't have: Class and Humility.
Don't forget talent, too.
And humour.
@@pizzaboy3946 and everything else essentially.
You're not paying attention.
And charm.
These Roger Moore clips make me like him even more than I used to, which I wouldn't have thought possible.
Apparently RM always found time for his fans. If you met him he would not mind if you wanted his autograph or wanted to be photographed with him. He was very grounded.
@@peterphosphate5436 He comes across that way in interviews. It's nice to know that a childhood hero was actually a good guy in real life.

Roger Moore was the James Bond that I grew up with as a kid.
Same he was brilliant
Same he was brilliant
Me too. The first Bond I remember watching as a kid was "Live and Let Die." The first I saw in a movie house was "The Spy Who Loved Me."
Same here, he was great as Bond the only drawback IMO was he stayed in the role too long. He should’ve retired after For Your Eyes Only
Still the best Bond IMO.
Had the honor of meeting Sir Roger Moore in New York. He shook my hand. Every bit the humble gentleman he came off as on screen.
He was truly a very likeable man. He will be missed
BRILLIANT! His rapid wit is so stellar it even outshines his good looks and charisma. A very interesting conversation. He and Dick Cavett had such marvellous rapport.
I was lucky to see Sir Roger on stage in Harrogate for one of those 'Evening with' shows a year or two before he died. He was sharp as a tack. Charming and funny. legend.
What a true brit our Rodger is love him great ambassador for the uk
Was.
Roger
What a gentleman! Pure class.
Roger Moore was awesome, just so cool
A well loved and respected actor, a great human being. RIP Sir Roger Moore 🙏
I can see why he was selected to be Bond. Still the best one.
Connery was best Bond then you can rate the rest

4:18 when Roger Moore said "I go home and count my money" and then lit up his cigar was pretty gangsta lol
1, 2, 3 and to the 4.
Need more of these videos to cherish Sir Roger Moore's personality!
Sir Roger Moore..an absolute gentleman he had so much class ..the man was a real huma being...I also have lots of respect for Alain Delon as well..RIP sir Roger
Roger Moore had just the most acceptable, likeable voice. It's as though it's the perfect timbre, clear, not too posh. And to think he's actually a cockney. I don't blame him for affecting an RP accent. You've got to know what it takes to get ahead. Michael Caine changed his name, but not his accent, but I don't think both approaches take effort.
Roger was always such a class act. Still miss him alot.
Don't worry, he's still around.

Best Greetings from Sweden.
Not my favorite Bond, but my favorite Bond actor, if that makes any sense.
Oh yes, very well said. I would say the same. Moore was too nice to be as convincing as Connery as the character, but as an actor and man Moore was the more charming and approachable.
@@markmaki4460 Although the stunt men preferred Connery as he was a man's man.
Yes, he always seemed like a cool guy, off camera.
No...not at all.

that's what you get when a boy spends lots of quality time with a good and caring father. think about this all you who think money will buy happiness for your kids

Roger Moore, the first crush I ever had ❤️
My best friend Donna’s father is named Roger Moore and when he retired from the NYPD they gave him a plaque with the usual “thank you do your years of service “ on it and the nickname 007.
It's great seeing these old interviews with Roger Moore.
He says that he's 44 years years old so that would make this show 1971 or early 72. At least a year before he would play James Bond in 'Live and Let Die'
Correct. March 8th ‘72 was the air date according to the info.
Roger Moore, what a charming, amusing man. Not forgetting his dedication to UNICEF. Thanks for this clip of the other charming & amusing man - Dick Cavett! JaneR
Roger Moore was one relaxed cool classy dude..!!
He was really handsome in his youth
He even looked youthful in his 40's
Handsome for sure
One of my best james bond movies
You need to get the very clever self effacing irony, what an incredible bloke. Learnt many millions for charity too.
I'm soon trough the third season of The Saint, I just love it. Roger is so British.

I was on the brink of buying The Saint on dvd but I didn't follow through. Maybe I will.
Live And Let Die may be my favorite Bond movie.

I believe that the date aired is wrong:
Date aired - October 14th 1977 - Roger Moore
By what the said, I think the interview was aired in 1971.
but it says 1972 now
@@_Daniel_Plainview that checks out based on his age. Dick was 35.
Definitely not 1977 - not with that long hair. He cut it short for his first Bond-movie in 1973 and he kept it short ever since.
Just about to become Bond in autumn 72. This was spring.

A master of self deprecation.
This must have been just before he landed Bond? Live and Let Die came out the following year
I wonder if that's more posh or RP. Really enjoy watching Moore, he is such a distinguished gentleman.
Very enormes
What is the thing about these past stars that make you adore them much much more than the current ones.
Connection with reality. Watch the Burton one if you haven't already, it's superb.
Humour & humility, in that order.
They stop acting when they should
He was in "Live & Let Die" shortly after this interview
RM my legend
6 years after this interview he moved to Switzerland ( probably for tax reasons ) where he remained for the rest of his life ! That's what he was referring to when he said he goes to work then comes home and counts his money R.I.P. ❤🙏
Australian schools are very similar to British schools.
They both teach in English.
This interview in 1971
I always thought that Moore was under-rated and that Cary Grant was ovee-rated.👔
Grant was classy too ,he was offered the bond role, but didn't want to do a series & be type cast, like Roger so smooth,Roger was such a likeable guy though, never saw him in a bad interview and never heard anyone speak ill of him, like David Niven.
‘I can run faster than he can’. Bruce Lee gave self-defense advice similar to this comment.
Be water my friend, be water.
7:51 . . . .fckn hilarious....worth the wait.
I’ve heard that Dick Cavett has English ancestry by way of Grandparents, and I tend to hear a slight accent when talks or phrases a question
I can't find anything substantial on the film he mentions at 3:40; "Getting Rid of Mr Straker". Maybe it didn't get made.
It was also supposed to feature Lee Remick and Orson Welles, you're right it never got made.
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Just a few months later, he would sign to play Bond!
Yes - makes you wonder if he was keeping it all under his hat during this interview, or if the talks and casting hadn't happened yet.
Young Roger Moore, was a more suave, less alcoholic Richard Burton...
Connery was my favourite Bond; Roger is my favourite person.
What's that look at 7:37?
I think God broke the mould when he made Roger.....
Skip to 8:32 if you just want to hear about his father being in the Police.
@@DonBean-ej4ou True! Still a lot of good officers on the frontline but they have no voice and their leaders are as you describe. The new Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police is a rare exception, hope he lasts.
What a gent Moore was and what a prat Cavert was . How did he ever get a job as n interviewer?
Cavett became one of the all time great interviewers on TV ever. He got numerous Stars and celebrities to sit down and open up about their lives. His old shows are a gold mine. But he didn't find his footing on this one. Roger clearly had the edge on him and was using his show to promote Faberge and Brute Production's. But it still is a good revealing interview. That's Cavett's trademark.
I know the producers asked him to cut his hair and lose weight for Bond, but I loved his "fuller" shaggy hair look.

Moore....Roger Moore.
2nd best James Bond
when I was an inner city high school teacher in the mid-1980s I never understood why my teen male students were so wildly attracted to The Man With The Golden Gun out of all the Bonds. I was also a high schooler when I saw it originally in 1974 and didn't find it that special, although the fun house and Christopher Lee's Scaramanga were pretty boss.
I miss this sort of witty repartee.
Roger Moore and tony curtis what a odd couple, but it worked.
Chalk and cheese as they say opposites attract.
It seems to predate is tenure as Bond, so it can not be ‘77…
Unfortunately, Cavett doesn't quite get Moore and the chat never gets to flow naturally. A pity because Moore was an excellent raconteur.
Agreed
He didn't tell us how to vote!! What kind of actor is this?
Drink water my friends, drink water.
"Fab-urge" as they say in Australia!
A joke that the audience simply wouldn't have understood until at least the '90s.
The aptly named Roger More.
I think this is the only interview I’ve seen RM not clicking with the interviewer. Very odd.
I knew he had a production company but had no idea he produced 'Nightwatch' and 'A Touch of Class' - both were hugely successful. Despite his looks, he was actually super-smart and a high-achiever. During WW2 he was a base commander in Germany. He also owned a third of the rights to 'The Saint' and completely owned the rights to The Persuaders.
Roger was my favorite Bond character. And a smart accomplished guy. But this interview was early March 1972. And he said he was 44 years old. That means he was likely born in 1927. Which would make him 18 when WWII ended. So even if the Nazi's hadn't objected I find it hard to believe he could have been a Base Commander in Germany during the war.
The experience in the military shows on screen.
Moore aged pretty well, he was nearly 10 years older than Cavett yet both look similar ages here.
Moore was a fit guy who barely drank. Same with Connery. Lived till 90. Look at BROSNAN... at 60 he looks 75
Roger Moore born November 1927
Dick Cavett born October 1936
Moore was born in October 1928
This was rather painful. They were both trying so hard to say "It's okay friend, don't be so nervous."
Doesn't get much more 70s than a movie studio owned by Brut 33. The 70s was the cheap cologne decade
ALL. BECAUSE JUST TO ADMIRE HIS PERFECT AND MAXIMUM MALE BEAUTY, IT WAS ENOUGH TO WATCH ANY FILM OF HIM.
AND FOR THE RECORD, I DO NOT LIKE MEN. I'M MARRIED WITH A PRECIOUS WOMAN.
BUT I'M BEAUTY LOVER, WHATEVER IT IS.
BEAUTY IT'S ALWAYS GRATEFUL WHATEVER IT BECOMES.
My Favorite Bond Is Sean Connery,And I Didn't Like Roger Moore As James Bond,As Well As I Liked Him As The Saint,Better Than Bond,And I Liked Pierce Brosnan As Remington Steele Better Than James Bond.
That was awkward, Cavett was immune to More's humour and so naïve.
And no knitwear!
have nothing against the other celebs that were on this show but is this channel ever going to show the Dick Cavett shows where he interviews Jackie Gleason or Art Carney? How about any Honeymooners actors that were part of the main cast? These are rarities much like the other videos around here.
Slightly contentious in the beginning huh? Maybe Sir Roger had a few backstage?
Watching him in the Bond movies you don't realize what a big guy he was. Every bit of 6'2 200lbs.
He slimmed down quite a bit to play Bond.
Love Roger. Pure class. Don't like the interviewer, he seems awkward and like he's trying his best to wind up Roger.
Dick Caveat was my favorite talk show host
His name confirms on what he really is.
I didn’t know he was on the board of Faberge. M.
