- How firm is the mattress? Is there a full length mirror? Will I need a hairdryer? Are there enough plug sockets everywhere? These are just some of the questions that we all ask ourselves when we book a holiday and we want to know about the room(cabin in this case).
Well we are here to answer all them questions for you. So this is a Standard Cabin with a balcony (non restrictive view) onboard the P&O Iona. We were on Deck 14 midship in room 14502.
We show you in depth everything in the cabin to help if you are also going on The Iona or you have been on other ships as want to compare rooms. Or even still you might just want a nosey lol (we won't judge you!)

Super cozy room I think. I'm a Hotel Manager in charge of Housekeeping and let me tell you, you're a rare breed. Most complaints are followed up by demands of free stuff or money back somewhere. That's why we profusely apologize hoping to get back in good graces so we still get a good review. It's nice to know when people understand we're all just people and everyone makes mistakes. Hi Mel, and yes your job must be so tough at times. People like to complain alot and then expect freebies like you said 🙄. We witnessed on the cruise some of the staff being spoken to like rubbish by some passengers yet we are all human just trying to get by and make a living in this world. There's a way to sort things while still treating people with respect 😁😁.

It's bigger than we would have thought! Certainly has everything you would need albeit a little small and we like the idea of the brochure telling you what's going on for the next day. I'm not all that worried about drying my hair. But we love the balcony with the two chairs and table! We'd sit out there quite a bit in nice weather. Great room tour. Thanks for bringing us along!
Haha you won't need the hairdryer then Dave 🤣. Yes we were spoilt with a balcony, they tend to cost quite abit more though, but not sure if we could deal with an inside cabin with no window though, guess it all depends on if the price is right lol. Thanks so much for watching Dave and Kathy 😍
Great tip about the hair drier being 2 pin, we are going on Saturday, so my wife will take an adapter, just incase her getting ready, interferes with my brew, lol.

Great room, love the look of this ship. Balconies are always worth it imo, always nice to be able to be outside. Got a suite for our cruise next week. Hope to see you cruising more soon, and yes, balconies are worth the extra money, especially say somewhere like Alaska or Norway with beautiful views

Just a quick note….if you ask the room attendant they will store your empty suitcases until the last day so you don’t have to find a space for them in the cabin.

Hi, great video. We've just booked a cabin on 14th deck as well for our first cruise so this is really helpful. Did you say the coat hangers were in the wardrobe or did you take your own?

Have just booked this cruise for 2024, so came across you guys quite by accident. I was looking for videos of Iona and you popped up, I've now subscribed as your so easy to listen too. I cant remember seeing any draws in the cabin? If I'm right where did you put your undies ? 😂😂
Thank you so much. We have just had to look back to remember lol. No drawers we put them on the shelves in the wardrobe. Heres a tip for you, we use the pull string bags from tesco what you put the fruit and veg in for you pants and socks 😆
Cases will fit under the beds, open if they're big ones....the night light switch is on the right hand side of the bed if youre facing it.....
Just got back from a cruise on Iona, I found the rooms a little smaller compared to Ventura, Azura or Britannia with not enough space. Nowhere to put suitcases except under the bed.
Still the balcony was much larger than Britannia.
Oh right interesting to know, this was our first cruise so nothing compare it to. We thought it was big so at least if we go on another ship we will be even more pleased 😀
We’re going on Iona very soon on the same cruise and it’s our first one. Very excited and your blogs are great fun and so useful. You mention the hairdryer. Did you find it was powerful enough? Just wondering whether I need to bring my own? Also you show under the bed storage for cases did yours fit comfortably under there? Thanks guys 👍
Hi thanks so much and the hairdryer was OK it did the job but tool slightly longer than the one used at home. Would probably take my own next time just to be quicker. And we didn't actually put our cases under the bed we fit them into one and put them between the sofa and patio doors as there was room. There did look plenty of room under the bed though so don't worry 😁 hope you have a great time 😀 X
I hope p&o havesorted the infinity pool as my husband & I was on deck 11 cabin 745 3 decks below the pool & before wede set sail I was on the balcony & its right at the ba k of the ship we chose to get the views which was fantastic in the Fjords however I got soaked along with balconies either side of us & balcony below. Happened twice we was compensated to spend on board & than goodness I wasn't in my evening dress as the compensation would nowhere have covered the cost of my dress. So do hope they've sorted it as its happened by what I can gather on all of its cruises so no excuse for it to carry on^!
Oh no that's terrible! That's no good when you pay all that extra money for a balcony then you get soaked from the infinity pool! Will definitely avoid that room if we go on her again, hope you still had a wonderful time regardless
Hi thanks for all the info. We are going on this cruise on the 2nd September. Our first time cruising. Where can you find out what your allowed to take on board? Food/Drink. We are flying to Southampton earlier that morning, is there somewhere close by where we could buy coke etc?
It would be under there terms and conditions. The port in right next to the city centre so im sure theres plenty of places to buy some. I would check on google maps

Thanks Chris. And the rooms are very well sound proofed in our opinion as its something we are both really conscious of when we go away as it can be really annoying! We didn't hear a peep from any our neighbours though all week

Also did you find out much about the kids club at all? Planning on going me, my best friend and my 7 year old and not sure if she’ll enjoy it. Glad you had fun!
The app video is coming out on the 28th. We didnt go in the kids club, as we felt abit awkward going in there without a kid lol.
We do show abit of the outside of the reef.. that video will be out in a couple weeks.

You can turn the light off by the toilet/shower by the side of the bed
We honestly couldn't find anything lol we could turn the main light off but it still left another light on. We just assumed it was a safety thing case you needed to go the toilet in the night to avoid the huge step , good job we could cover it with a cushion off the sofa 🤣 thanks for telling us though 👍

Yes you can take food on so long as it is prepackaged. You cannot take homemade food on board. You can take alcohol on board. I think its 1ltr of wine or spirits.

Hi can't remember what offers they had and they also changed everyday. Just check out your sheet whilst on board to see what offers they have then. Do remember some things were 50% off as part of a deal
