In college we get lunch money to spend when we go to tournaments etc and when we're out in town with the team to eat 😅
You can choose to go to restaurants etc or you can spend the money on whatever else you feel. Coach's gave you it for breakfast, lunch and dinner 😅
So if you have 8 indoor track meets to go to multiple 200 by that then if you're a good athlete who can score points at conference they will bring you if you can score points.
Then when you go to nationals you get lunch money as well. Then repeat for outdoor track season 😅. Smarter athletes carry food to the meets or go to Walmart. This was my experience in track and field and it applied to other sports as well according to my friends who were on basketball, tennis etc and at other schools as well.
All college athletes receive a monthly stipen

Everyone.... EVERYONE makes financial mistakes early in their lives.
But when you're a pro athlete, and you LITERALLY become a millionaire overnight, then those mistakes can magnify and normal folks just can't relate.
I wouldn't say that they can't relate. Millions of young adults get their first taste of money every year. Yeah, they don't go from nothing to a million but they could go from nothing to 30-50k annually, and that's a crazy amount for someone that's been living day-to-day on food stamps their entire life.

If you have to ask yourself where all your money went, it means you have 0 insights on your expenses, cause if you do you shouldn't be surprised by the time you do your taxes. He is absolutely right, I had to realize that with my own children, they didn't play with the toys I bought, They played with shopping carts, jump on the mattress and climbing on things. I used to sit their toys outside and the neighbors put them to use more than my own children.
