You call the video "...Under $25,000" but all the cars pictured are upscale trim models with features you'll never get for that price. Why not images of the base models you're talking about? Otherwise, nice presentation.
Because they look hideous in base forms
The 2022 Subaru Impreza sport has a 2.5 182hp 4cl and upgraded prim for 23,500. The limited hits 27,000 and has a better interior but 182 hp is more than a turbo Chevy equinox and is only 2 less than an turbo VW Tiguan.
@@russel5458 I wonder where can you find those prices, I just went to see a new Subaru Crosstrek Limited and were asking for $33,000.

Awesome content! Thanks for narrowing my search down to five cars.
Thank you for yet another sharp to the point review !
Thanks! Informative and useful information.
Thank you for all the information. This will help in my quest for a vehicle.
Thank you so much… this is so helpful
Thank you great video audio commentary tutorial demo editing particularly no robot auto tune voice over
2018 bought 2 Corollas SE for me and my lady ….still happy ,no major issues …..very reliable .
Great report, Thanks
I will go for the Mazda 3! They are very reliable and very well built! I own a 2018 Mazda 3 hatchback Grand Touring and to me is one of the most reliable cars! 😃
Love this video, subscribe! Great videos man!
It would be interesting to see the top 5 sub compacts. Yep small, but worth it.
great review thanks..
Love my 2021 Impreza hatch. Have it a year and a half with 26000 miles. Glad to see it on the list.
Just wait until the head gasket blows at 80,000 miles
I've sold all these brands and owned them as well. My picks would be based on resale and reliability in this order:
1. Toyota Corolla
2. Honda Civic
3. Mazda 3
IMHO.
Thanks. This is another very important advisory that is very note worthy for any serious car buyer, not smitten by marketing puffery or promises of durability written in the sand.
Well done!

I would buy Mazda first Toyota Than Honda Honda transmission issue are very problematic
@@honestscentz9300 Recent Hondas? I haven't heard. There was that oil/fuel mixing thing, but that is all but gone. My old dealership in WA State told me that they haven't had one case yet. 2012 Civics had issues, but early CVTs (2002)had some, but we're talking 20 yrs. Toyota Rav's today have more issues. But they are few and far between. Far, far away from the worthless JATCO/NISSAN transmissions that left a tarnish on all CVTs.
What is your opinion of the Corolla Cross and Honda HR-V?
Дякую!😊
Thank you 😊. I will go for Mazda 3 or Civic
I like your reviews, so informative and on point. You're the Marquees Brown or Whoseboss of car reviews.
Hello young man,
I agreed with you 100 % , as you can see I own 2007 tundra 5.7l, 2021 Ridgeline, 2016 ES350, 2018 NX300, and last but least a 2007 RX350. Yes pretty much all toyota products except one. The Ridgeline got 3.5l that will last me a long time. I just need to change timing belt every 100k miles.
Very informative video thanks bro.
I just bought a new 2023 Corolla hybrid and I’m glad I did. I’m not mechanical but I can take care of the scheduled maintenance items. It is very reassuring that I made the right choice. Thank you for this report. It is very helpful. 😊 Scotty Kilmer also gives it a high rating and said the 1.8 engine is the best there is.
I would love a Crosstrek, but would settle for an Impreza. That winning Rally pedigree is something to hang your hat on .
Great list. I've owned three mazdas all different gens. Amazingly reliable cars.
Good info. Agree on the Corolla. I have 2013 that just passed 178k and the only thing that’s went out was the alternator. It went out in year 9 and I replaced it myself for about $300. I would definitely buy again.
Im getting one Saturday 👌🏼
Good info. What do you think of the Corolla Cross?
I like the Camry but that costs more
@@JamesWilson-sb9iq if u wanna drive a rocket ship- get a new V6 camry
@@namvet1968 If you don't mind the rear multi-link independent suspension being castrated, haha. Too bad the Corolla wagon isn't here, b/c the hatch with short wheelbase is a pita in passenger/cargo room. But I like the Corolla (& especially Avalon) sedan's wide rear visibility -- convenient/safe for passing (lane-change to the right).
The new U.S.-spec HR-V is really a compact CR-V, b/c it's based on the new Civic (& no longer the Fit) with multi-link rear suspension "in extra-long travel setting".
Great advice, I'd go for the Corolla, I keep my car's a very long time. Still own a 2000 model. Will be reaching out to you for a new one.
Spent a week researching this only to settle on the exact same list of 5 candidate cars - wish I'd found your video first!
This video would be helpful but the dealerships are marking everything up. Good luck finding a car at/near msrp
I have a 2020 Corolla LE ….not as Sporty as the Civic or the Mazda BUT it’s a solid car….love driving it. The CVT has caused zero issues. In fact I was very surprised at it’s "peppiness"….thumbs up on the Corolla
Great video! I am helping my daughter buy a car. I love my honda CRV, and this list is great. I saw a Subaru Impreza but are repairs harder and more expensive than American or Honda and Toyota?
Car help corner, so far, big thumbs up to all your informative videos! Well put together, and interesting viewing, "
"Your comments are informative and to the point. keep them coming! I have a Honda Insight Hibred 2010, witch so far, has not cost me any repairs,, except normal maintenence, but now the CVT trans is acting up. 'JERKING AND HESATATING"If that goes out, the car is done for. Over 4 to 5 grand for a new trans!.
Love my 2017 Corolla IM that I paid $16,500 brand new. This is basically a newer generation Matrix which in my opinion is one of the best small cars ever made. I had a Pontiac Vibe which is just a rebadged Matrix for a number of years and gave it to my son in-law. He's got 168k on it and it's still going strong.
You did well. Those will last a long time. Pontiac vibe. I wonder if people sell them cheap thinking that they are Pontiacs?
Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix have awesome reliability.
wow, i wish I could get a Corolla/Honda for that price! Kudos to you, def baby that car knowing you got her for a steal
I am happy with my 2019 Honda Civic EX, which I recently purchased as a Certified pre owned with only 18,000 miles.
I've been driving Corollas since 1990 and have few problems with them. The one I have now is a 2010 and has about 175,000 miles on it. I have had to replace the water pump, blower motor and alternator which to me isn't a big deal for a car that old with that many miles. But other than that the car runs great.
I bought a 2020 Mazda 3. Great car. Japanese keep on doing great cars.
I think this is a very fair and comprehensive rating. You can't go wrong with a Toyota, Honda or Mazda. And Subaru is pretty darn solid as well. I would love to see the Elantra on the list, but valid skepticism about Hyundai's 2.0L and 2.4L engines exists given engine fires and catastrophic unforeseen failures. I really hope Kia/Hyundai earns a spot on this list in the near future.
Yea Electra I really like them
Hyundai released a new generation of engines called Smartstream from 2020 that's different from the Nu and Theta engines that were recalled. But then again we don't have long term data on the reliability of these new engines because of their newness. I wished the video clarified that the post 2020 Hyundai and Kia models are using these new engines and not the recalled ones.
@@ChrisRobato Already hearing of issues with the new engines...
Mazda 3 all the way i just bought my 22 and it's the 4th in a row since the early 90's all my friends are converts as well i even remember the protege which became the 3. All loyal and ZOOM ZOOM great cars to drive and own whether u get all the bell and whistles or not
Bought a used 2011 Sonata back in 2016 with 100 miles on the dash for $4000. Engine went out at 146k miles in 2018. Hyundai replaced the engine for free & extended the warranty. Now in 2022 the car has over 218 k miles without issues (brand new factory engine block) and I’m a happy cash customer for buying used without any depreciation affecting my purchase like the brand new owner. lol
Faith be to ya, You must be Irish, or kissed the blarney stone to be that lucky!
Ordering a Mazda3 hatchback with a 6-speed next year! I can't wait.
I would personally go for the cx-30 over the cx-3 especially since they're no longer in production but still a solid crossover.
CX-30 2021 base model owner here. What an incredible vehicle. Love there's no CVT transmission. 2.5 means I won't be burning insane amounts of gas while still having enough power to climb mountains... literally. I live in Puerto Rico and I'm very impressed with the insane amount of torque it has, being able to climb Skyrim like vertical mountain even from a full stop. It's been my daily driver ever since and I have no complaints. Daily driver while under conditions most of these vehicles aren't meant for since other roads in the world are far better and much more flat.
Cx 5 bro its only like 5k more and wayyyy better
Hey and yes my tundra has 175k miles and runs very smooth and strong, no oil burning and no oil leak. I used my truck to pull a fishing boat.
My 2015 mazda 3 had it's biggest repair job this year. I spent $5000 for
spark plug replacement all belt replacements.
new brake pads, rotors, discs, tires and wheel alignment
I had corrosion on the strut mounts so all of them had to be replaced.
I had some body repairs front grill was replaced side mirror and my driverside turn signal bulb had to be replaced.
Over all the car still runs well. It should run for another 5 years. hopefully by then I'll be in a new car. Not gonna lie but the dealer gave me a new 2023 rental that may make me want a new car soon.
I’m trying to save some money to buy my mom a suv and your videos are helping me to decide (not yet cause I don’t have the money)
Lucky that I get to watch this, because I'm going to test drive a Mazda 3 this Saturday. Thank you for this information
Did you end up getting the Mazda 3? How are you loving it?
This video is very educational.
I got a 2020 Corolla which is fundamentally the same as the car in the review. Great value for the money and it gets great mileage. I love my Corolla and it has been trouble free, even though I haven't had it all that long. There are a few issues, such as a really tight back seat. I would highly recommend this car.
He forgot the Corolla cross
I haven't found any your thoughts about Toyota chr at your Chanel , is it worth to buy?
All the cars a good and I would consider them if I didn't already own a small car. I really need something a little larger, but still affordable, like the Rav-4 or the CRV.
Thanks nerd. Nice video.
I bought a new 2019 corrola le eco after a lifetime of own Chevy there Is no doubt in my mind u picked the toyota corrola as number 1 was a wise choice the reliability is very good from my experience with the car now has 34678 miles its my only car and I go every where in it I think u hot the nail on the head naming the corrola the number one pick
2008 prius used dailey.....never had any issues...CVT in the prius seems bulletproof after 15yrs
yep, gotta go with those with great reps.
Hi, thank you for putting these material out here for us to learn more about cars.
I'm in the search for a new car or better used certified low mileage vehicle. I would like a midsize, luxury and most importantly reliable. What would you recommend for a lady with no children or big family. So the car is basically for myself daily use. Thank you 😊
No problem. For luxury brands, the most reliable choices would be the Lexus IS, Lexus ES, Acura TLX, and the new Acura Integra. All are great choices.
Personally I went with the Elantra because it was the best value for what you get in this current market. Great size, great fuel economy, super long warranties, and they no longer use the recalled engines. I was able to get the SEL at around $25k after markup, taxes, and fees. I test drove a Corolla, Mazda 3, and Impreza and all of those cars were too small for me personally and most were more expensive after markups.
This guy made a review by reading magazines, he obviously does not have real life experience with the cars he's reviewing in this video
My VW runs perfectly and have been running for the last 4 years with no failures but had awful experiences with Mazda3
Good luck 🤞
Excellent secondary choice. #1 Honda Civic.
@@drsnowmon VW is low end junk. Super low CR scores. No wonder Made in Mexico 🇲🇽 🤮
Interesting. What is your MPG with the Elantra?
thank you
These lists are underrated
I would definitely go for Honda or Toyota I presently drive a Honda Civic it’s beautiful
Corolla or the Civic?
New Hyundai cars and SUVs are using a new generation family of engines called Smartstream. Not the Nu and Theta engines that were recalled.
I own 2004 Toyota Corolla with over 350,000 miles, odometer stopped recording at 299,999.
I have only changed engine and transmission oil, brakes and a/c clutch.
I would choose another Corolla from your selection of recommended cars with my eyes closed.
Your spot on with this list!
What do you mean by low repair cost?
I have a 2017 Toyota corolla and replacing the bumper and grill costs $1200.
My Mazda is 22 yr’s old runs like a new car.
As someone who sold both Hyundai and Nissan for 6 years, I can attest to the issues noted in this video. I would Nissans in the service bays getting new transmissions everyday. Hyundai suffers from a lack of quality control and the fact that they try to do everything themselves. They would be better outsourcing some components of there cars to other manufacturers.
nissans are very popular and young people drive them. that having been said, you WILL see them every day in a busy dealer service drive with CVT trans problems. the vast majority of the calls become customer-pay repairs because the owners neglected to service them at 60K and on top of that, abuse them while driving. selling nissans and working inside the back door are two very different things. we fix them and try to stock all the parts we need every day. BTW, the vast majority of CVT repairs in our shop are repairs- not 'new transmissions'- its actually difficult to ruin the entire transmission without physically wrecking the car. hyundai has plenty of backing from mitsubishi, LTD. and still gets technical info, parts, and sub-assemblies from them. hyundai had to break free from mitsubishi motors in 1987 and i think they did a commendable job while backing up their products, and it was definitely a rough go for a few years.
In Europe the price for every car from that list is at least 5000€ higher. For basic models.
My experience said when I buy car always buy solid one and cheaper maintenance plus best seller so you sale it back faster if you decide to buy new one , so the best for me it’s Prius hybrid with 52 miles by gallon
I love my 2018 Nissan Rogue … and, 1,000,000 mile warranty!
I am considering a base model Subaru Legacy. The base price is $24,395. Mazda no longer sells the CX3 in the USA. Toyota no longer puts the 1.8 liter engine in Corollas. My niece had the engine in her Hyundai seize while driving on the highway; the engine had to be replaced. Is the base engine in Honda Civics still the 2.0? The Accord's base engine is the turbocharged 1.5 liter.
I would buy a toyota corolla :) thanks for the tips, I'm looking to buy a new car but I don't want any issues.
really liked this video, dont know why.
I like your videos because you recommend the best cars our daughter has a 2013 Mazda 3 and it is still going well in Australia most of these cars on this list are over $30000 aud so they are not that cheap there is a car available in Australia under $20000 aud its a hatchback and is tge Suzuki Beleno we have a Suzuki Beleno GLX last year we paid $25000 aud last year and the Suzukis are on par with reliability with Toyota and Honda because Toyita is rebadging the Suzuki Beleno as the Toyota Starlet they're built in India in the same factory as the Suzukis
Grear video
As a Corolla person that hates the mark ups and add ONS .
Mazda 3 is going to be my pick now
Can we have available best priced manual transmission options
I live in the US and own a Mazda cx-3 bought it certified pre-owned with very low mileage for 20 k LOVE the car it's a fully loaded GT model
Currently the owner of a 2010 Toyota Matrix (basically just the corolla hatchback) and it has yet to have any expensive repairs and my dealer contacts me every year still to see if I will sell it
The Nissan versa with the manual transmission is the best choice if you are smart $15000 brand new can't beat that
Shame that the 1.5T Honda has gotten so expensive and that the availability with the manual transmission is only on the Si or fully loaded model. It's like $29,000. I think the Mazda 3 is the best because of no CVT and a more torquey 2.5L than the 2.0s and can be had for easily under $25,000 USD. The Corolla is better in a couple aspects. If you want a manual transmission the Corolla Hatchback has a really good system and an engine that will rev out. Also, the Corolla Sedan has a hybrid model for about $25,000 for those that are most concerned with operating costs. I think the 2.5L Mazda 3 and CX30 strikes the best middle ground.
Definitely something to be said for that old tried and true tech! My Dad was driving Mazda's back in the late 70s and I fell in love with his RX3 as a grade schooler!
Have not been to Manzi dealerships as yet, but all the rest you mentioned start at $25,000 or more with OTD at $34,500 or more. So be careful on the base price and look out for rising interest rates and payments. If you finance your talking up to $40,000+ when end of contract.
I've been looking at the new Honda Civics in Finland and the starting price is 40,641€ ($44,694). So even if you have to pay $40,000 for it financed, it doesn't sound like a bad plan. I will probably end up buying a few year old Toyota corolla hatchback and I will still end up having to pay 23,000€ - 27,000€ for it.
Not if you pay it early
COROLLA the best car 👍👍👍
I just picked up an 2021 Impreza hatchback sport in Manual transmission for a total of $23,000. I only wish it had 30 more horses. The cargo space is "better" than the Civic Hatchback with the rear seats folded down. 🏹🤠👍
What about the Kia rio or the Kia soul both lx 2023 lines?
Mazda 3 has my interest. Small interior, but I just like their look, with 6 speed
Please write what Canadian Trims should be consider on each car?
What about the Corolla Cross AWD?
If you can wait to buy a new car, I would. Fix what you got and see what next year brings.
Nice video, just have a question and need help as I am a foreigner newly shifted and want to buy a car, when der is a Manufacturer Suggested Price on car window, generally what is the dealer percentage above that price? I went to Koons Toyota today the manufacturer price was 23000 but Koons told me sale price would be 29000...does it makes any sense?
Sounds like the dealer is adding a $6,000 markup. Shop around until you find a dealer that only charges the MSRP from the Toyota website
@@carhelpcorner I do will that, thankyou so much 👍🏾
i would love to know more about the jetta and volkswagen car.
Excellent top 3 cars on this list, Toyota, Honda, and Mazda. Mazda 3 would be better if it had and independent rear suspension and they are so well designed. All of these vehicles should last at least 15 years if they don’t rust out.
I have owned since new, a 2006 Mazda3 2.0L 5 sp sedan that currently has 122,000 miles. Other than one spark plug replacement and several batteries, I have had no trouble out of my Mazda. I just retired and now I want to get a new car , but not because I need to. I wish I could get another Mazda3 sedan with manual but I will be purchasing the hatchback premium in order to get another manual transmission.
As an owner of a 2022 Mazda3 Hatchback they have issues with the airbag sensors, it’s just how they’re wired I’ve had to have mine rewired twice
I have a 22 as well GT Turbo what model? Wonder what may came?
I bought a new sonata in 2018. They did the knock sensor update and raised the warranty to 125,000 on engine. Late they sent me a letter raising the engine warranty to lifetime. I imagine because of the class action lawsuits. I have had no issues.
When you step up to the 1.6L Turbo shared by the KONA Limited/Elantra N/Kia you eradicate the issues with the 2L.
BUT -- you're around $27,500 for the 195HP bulletproof engine. Still that car gets 38MPG highway, on regular gas.
new corollas come with the 2.0 engine which has not been time-tested like the 1.8 engine was. time will tell how durable they will be
Any comments about VW Jetta? Thx
I absolutly agreed with autor. Japan cars are the best.
Get You A (2016) Toyota Camry SE.. I love mines 🔋💪🏾
Can you review the Kia Niro?
If stick is available on the port-injection notchback Civic LX sedan, then I'd take one with the light color interior. Hatchback's “much narrower rear visibility” gets into my nerves!
These newer Mazda designs with Torsion beam are no longer appealing.
I was just told by a dealership in Brooklyn center that they don't make the Mazda cx-3 it's also over a five-month wait for a manual he said they don't really make them
