it wasn't an outburst, nor tantrum. steven literally has mental breakdowns due to his traumas and he needs help, instead he hears "you better than this" and "we need to do something before SOMEONE gets hurt". steven was the one who was already hurting, and him being hurt resolved to someone getting hurt as well.
7:03 He wanted his dad to be more strict that was the point, he wanted a more stable lifestyle and Greg immediately telling him that he was proud of him after he crashed the car was exactly what Steven was talking about he felt like he had to much freedom
10:24 also saying that he’s throwing tantrums ?? He’s literally having mental breakdowns they aren’t just tantrums 😭
7:07 YES!! That's the thing, Greg grew up without any freedom and Steven grew up with too much freedom. Steven wanted to have had a normal childhood and Greg had that and didn't "appreciate" it, at that moment Steven wanted his father to act like a "normal parent"
I just realized something. That was the second time Steven used his TEARS to bring someone back to life. Usually he only has healing saliva (except when he revived Lars). This means when he‘s really really grieving, he can bring someone back to life, including gems
To be clear - Steven's powers alone did not bring back Jasper, he mixed the essences of all 4 diamonds to make that happen.
I grew up with parents who raised me *kind of* similar to Steven. Parents who would say to me are age 12 “we’re going out for a few days, there’s food in the fridge! Bye!” Or “we’re happy with you as long as you’re not dead or in jail!” And bro that’s SO bad for kids. Kids NEED structure. They NEED someone in their life who will put their foot down and say “no. That’s bad for you and you’re not doing that.” If you were raised in a house with parents who gave you structure, it’s hard to understand why Steven feels the way he feels.
And nah man Steven didn’t have stability with the gems. We saw them leaving him alone for days at a time. We saw that he sometimes didn’t have anything but plain unseasoned macaroni noodles to eat because Amethyst ate all of his food. They were NOT equipped to take care of Steven in the earlier episodes and it SHOWS.
Wooow I had/still have the opposite experience. I ALWAYS had to tell my parents where I was or when I‘m coming home. They NEVER let me have a sleepover at someone. They always knew where I was and what I did. Even with food, they made me food to see what and how much I ate (I was really skinny back then). It wasn‘t always great to ask for permission to go to someone‘s place. Now at the age of 22 when I visit home they still want to know where I am or what I‘m doing. I‘m glad they don‘t ask me, when I‘m on college 😂, but you are right. I‘m sorta glad they were strict, but it was too much. A little freedom would‘ve been nice (it got a little better when I was Steven‘s age, I just had to tell them where I went and I would call them when I‘m coming home)
@@zenasonic7882 see yeah that sounds awful too! I’m not trying to say that Greg is wrong about his childhood. But there HAS to be a “happy medium.” And it’s REALLY hard to find that happy medium, even in real life. It’s why ppl say being a parent is so hard.
@@Emily-ph4ezYou and zezasonic's replies here are super interesting. It's interesting to share different experiences.
For myself, my parents were very 'normal'. They were focused on being normal, aligning to 'normal' parenting.
And I was an abnormal child. I'm an abnormal person. And so that parenting really seriously fucked me up.
I had specific needs and issues that went totally neglected because they weren't 'normal', despite how much I tried to communicate them, leading to me developing depression as a young teen, and nowadays being stuck with the aftereffects of chronic trauma, which really ain't fun. Feels like my nervous system is constantly revolting against me. I believe it to be a large part of why I'm (legally classified as) disabled.
Anyway, it's interesting to read both of your different experiences! It's why I wanted to share my own too
I can't believe Steven shattered Jasper. That really surprised me
💎💎💎😱😱😱
Steven had a dad he didn't see much due to not living with him, and caretakers that were off on a mission a lot of the time, it doesnt really matter that he was a gem child, Greg still should've treated him like a human being and raised him properly with things like school, medical things and more.
Steven can yearn for things he didn't have, but do you really think he would've benefited from being the 'weird kid' in school, and having to deal with those stressors, in addition to gem shit that would've fucked up his attendance and added additional stress?
That being said, that's only in regards to school. Steven would've benefitted from a therapist
As someone who has a messy relationship with their dad, cartoon dads are usually my dad 🤣🤣
7:07 HE WANT PEOPLE TO BE IRRITATED AT HIM, to be mad, for him to have consecuenses, he kill jasper and gain and she respect him after it? He need people to scold him, people to stop treating him like a angel and finally raise him
I think Steven was always this strong and jasper forced him to tap into pink diamonds raw power
Also I think he’d be stronger if his mother was one of the other diamonds but that’s just my opinion
Less than an hour gang
