  • “It's simple. It's painless, and it was a miracle. In three weeks I lost 18 pounds, and by three months, I had lost 38 pounds..."
For several years Ozempic has been on the market to treat type 2 diabetes. It improves the way the body handles excesses of the hormone insulin. A side effect was that patients lost 15 percent of their body weight. So last year, in June of 2021, it was reformulated and approved for weight loss for patients, who are not diabetics, under the name Wegovy.
“This drug is not a stimulant. It simply makes you feel full. We know that it affects your brain. It mimics a hormone that affects the satiety centers in your brain,” explained Bariatric Surgeon Dr. Matthew French.
Dr. French of Surgical Specialists of Louisiana, says about 20 of the clinic's patients have used Wegovy.
“And they say they just don't get hungry. They don't want the food. They don’t have the craving. And that's a powerful tool for losing weight,” explained Dr. French.
“And I wasn't hungry, which was great. The best thing about this drug is it made alcohol taste horrible,” said Hare who noted she packed on part of her weight from the sugary calories in beer and wine.
But after six months, Ramsey is no longer on Wegovy. Her cost-saving coupon ran out. Most Louisiana insurance companies don't pay for weight-loss medication like hers. Despite the long-term cost savings when people maintain ideal weight, companies don't include it in their coverage. The other problem is the drug is in high demand and can be difficult to get.

I am an ozempic patient for my diabetes. The weight loss patients use of wegovy and ozempic have made Ozempic scarce for diabetics. It took me 3 months but I was able to get my insurance company to approve the Ozempic. The weight loss has been good but the lowering of my a1c will probably save my life.

I am chronically ill, been on chemo and prednisone nonstop for 17 years. I'm on other meds for side effects of other drugs (take care of your health everyone). So, I'm on many drugs that make it so hard to lose weight. I gained over 150 pounds from being bed ridden, disease and meds. I have tried EVERY DIET, program, medications etc since I can remember...even a surgery, to lose weight. Yes, some worked a bit, but it never lasted. I felt like a loser, quitter and really hated myself. OZEMPIC, so far, has stopped me from feeling hungry, thinking about food, and it makes it that I only eat a real single serving. This is how normally thin people must feel? I never EVER felt like this before. I pray it becomes more affordable for all. I've lost 30lbs since september and I feel high from it all. I feel "normal" and if you have fought weight most of your life you'll understand what I'm feeling. The side effects are real. I get some stomach problems (constipation and diarrhea), and burp all the time LOL, and nausea IS REAL. It's worse than the chemo I take weekly. I asked my doctor for zofran and it really helps. I usually take 1 to 2 zofran a week. I Did have diabetes, but after taking ozempic for the past few months along with metformin now sugars are fine. I also stopped taking metformin since things are ok now, and that was the cause of so many gut problems. I'm SO RELIEVED to be off that. I don't know if ozempic is a miracle, but I can say, that after taking it about 2 months, food never crosses my mind. And even when physically hungry I don't feel the need to curb it. I'm eating, don't get me wrong, but maybe 1 full meal A DAY right now. instead of 3 full meals. A chicken breast, salad, a side dish usually is eaten within the day but as small meals. Does that make sense? It took at least 6 weeks to really kick in, so don't give up. If you make little money you can get it free Just go on the ozempic manufacturer's web page and look up patient assistance. You can also get it for $25 a month if you have private insurance or through an employer. I'm only telling people because I know what it's like to be sick and have so much going against you...this stuff has helped me physically, but mentally, too I don't hate myself as much. Many of you will understand what I mean.

You will soon learn to live on only 2 meals a day and you will be less hungry throughout the day. Your body needs time to be able to digest food. Eating all the time, is not helping it. Hence why people get sick. Look up Dr Eric Berg on RUclips. He'll give you amazing advice to start the weightloss journey, which doesn't include taking meds. I tried the 16:8 protocol daily and was very intentional about it for 8 months with very few results until I finally just gave up on it. I follow Dr. Fung on RUclips who is a huge proponent of IF for diabetes management and insulin resistance. He also stated that some people don't respond to moderate IF protocols and may need to do something more extreme which I am definitely not a fan of. If I fasted for longer periods; I could probably get the results. However, I don't see that as being a long-term, sustainable option.

Taking Ozempic is a freaking nightmare to figure out and get right so I stopped after e injections bcus it is a very complicated shot to understand. I lost 21 lbs by simply walking 4 miles as Steen as I could muster the will. I'm going to try *Rybellsus* to see if it will do for me what my sister claims it does for her.

I am losing twice as much as I have in a month. Also, it has helped relieve the pressure on my joints since I have rheumatoid arthritis❤🎉

The US have a form of ‘public health care’ though that Obama wrote into law. It’s probably double $60 on average but other political party criticize it so much that uninformed people who are swayed by dishonest Republicans (Trump’s party) don’t use it. Most employed people get insurance through their jobs and sometimes the better the job, the better the insurance. The advantage of US healthcare is the quality. Hospitals feel like hotels. The care is high level. You can get diagnosed, surgery done next week and you go home feeling like you were never diagnosed with whatever it was. But of course, if you are really poor and struggling that’s when you may not have health care which is horrible. Yeah Trump’s party did things to deliberately drive up the price of ‘Obamacare’ just to make it fail’ and people still vote for them. People who can’t pay for ‘Obamacare’ are statistically still a small amount of people though. And Obamacare is not the name of the insurance. Republicans called it that when they were trying to give it a bad name like Obama’s name is bad. Obama is a class act.

U will see effects in 8 weeks so u start out on 0.25mg so ur body adjusting to it after 4 injections 30 days u will increase ur dosage to 1mg after ur 8th injection u will start to notice difference in ur weight but u still have to make sure u eat probably can't be eating ice cream candy and fried foods u still have to maintain somewhat of a diet but some people who are on it just get full drinking water and two bites of food. So basically it makes u feel full longer and in all ur stomach will go back to it's normal size or even smaller size best thing I would recommend since if u on that medication ozempic start boiling eggs eat those it helps and gets u full eat green vegetables cut ur carbs stay away from bread or fried foods eat in moderation and u will see ur pounds sheet without any exercise this medicine is suppressing ur appetite following this diet is not going to be a challenge for anyone you will lose over 80lbs without having to wait
10 months u be dropping it in around 4 months but if u don't follow any diet it will be taking longer 10 months or more so yes it's ur option some people can't diet and some do have to will power to do it u can drop 150lbs in less then a year with exercise 20min a day cardio walking not running just walking.

Its too bad drug companies wont let those of us who aren't diagnosed as diabetic use these drugs, even with their coupons. After coupons $1000 + per month is NOT affordable..

I thought this was for diabetics . It was going to be life saving in some cases. Why is it now being marketed as a weight loss drug? Pharmacies are on back order because doctors are prescribing for weight loss. Am I missing something ?

It's the same product as Ozempic, just with a few changes. Ozempic is for diabetics, Wegovy will be solely for weight loss.

(please note that I have never been fat but I did want to shed a few pounds)
If you are not a diabetic, why not consider fasting? It's cheaper but it will suck for the first few weeks. I only eat one meal a day and after a few weeks have passed, I do not experience hunger pangs as much as the average person (maybe once every 4 days). I drink lemon water/zero calorie drinks/tea through out the day as I work.
Fasting consistently will cause your body to produce less ghrelin (hunger hormone) and it doesn't cost hundreds of dollars an injection.

You can ask around to see if any spa places offer the shot. But since you are not prescribed it by a doctor for diabetes, you’ll have to go in their weekly to get the injection, and they will be monitoring you on your dosage and slowly increase it.

I have type 2 diabetes. Last year there was a global shortage of Ozempic and I went six weeks without it, finally going back to the insulin injections I used to take twelve years ago. I went in for a routine eye test today and they told me that there were signs of diabetic damage to my eyes. I have to go back in three months to see if the eyes have healed or not.
Now I understand that obesity can be a serious problem, but I think the people facing blindness or amputation should have first call on this medication.

    • @SuSuKhair
      @SuSuKhair Год назад +3

That is terrible for you! I do want to say tho, people who aren’t diabetic aren’t being approved for ozempic. So the ozempic shortage has nothing to do with ppl who are overweight/obese taking Wegovy. It has everything to do with the manufactures and their needing to produce more pens. So the overweight/obese people aren’t stealing medication from the diabetics in need of their meds.
