You just gotta love racing people. I've been around them as a true racing fan for my entire life. This episode really captures what a day at the races is all about, especially for the pit side of things. Very nice presentation HHM, thanks for the look into my favorite class of racecars; The USAC Silver Crown Cars. As a youngster I lived for 1/4, 1/2 and 1 mile dirt track racing, but the biggest thrill was going to the Dirt Champ Car races to see my heroes of the day such as Chuck Hulse, Roger McCluskey, Rodger Ward, Don Branson and of course "Super Tex" A.J. Foyt Himself! Congrats to Kody Swanson on his 6th National Silver Crown Championship! The names may change as the years go by but the heart and soul of the drivers, crew and families is still the same. IMHO Kody Swanson and Logan Seavey would have been right at home going wheel to wheel with the legends on the "Championship Trail."
The cars, the sound, and the racing are definitely cool, but you bring out the humanity in the people who pilot those machines like nobody else. It really makes me want to follow this racing.
@@HistoryMysteryMan yes she is on the up and up 2 third places highest finisher for a lady silver crown driver, I had conversations with her, at carb night and three days ago at winchester she remindes me of part of a family I go to church with, and looks slightly german or irish american, kody is intersting he is soo dominant on the track when he is having an on night, but has a very distinctive kind of elevated pitch voice like hes when someone is nervous to talk when hes interviewed its differant, hes a tallish strong lean man, but has a very intersting speach pattern, and way more nerves then me, to drive with 75 gallons of fuel at 140 + mph around winchester, and accedent with that much fuel can go bad fast that stuff burns clear and hot in a fire of course, and the cars are huge. but all the drivers were nice to me, including that kind old gentleman that owns winchester, Charles Shaw, I thought he was just part of the track crew and this other guy jim or jack that had been around racing since 4 with his dad who built indy cars in the 70's and was part of the team bryan clausan raced for for a time, he was from just north of dayton, anywho he was talking to mr shaw and it had come up mr shaw said the words when he bought the track, and I opened my eyes wide and said your the owner? and curiously asked him if he would do a bristol and both said oh good clay is very pricy and it would never stick with these giant banks and would from a burm likely at the bottom making it dangerous to race like< I cant remeber if he said it happend at bristol or when wincester was dirth, then told me about eldora used to be more banked, and it was cut down for the nascars when tony took over but I said I thought for sure I read that was before tony took over the raceway, and how no one seems to know what the banking was at origionaly at the big e, they didn't seem to remeber either, but its still steep of course, it was a good conversation, though I still have not given up my goal to see another big dirt crown race in indiana since they took away the indy 500 of dirt track racing the hoosier mile and three weeks before the last one was to be, could not put off three weeks to start changing the surface to stone, and dont even race harness there only train :{ as much as I love horses and its a big thing up north here among the amish and mennonite as well as the farmers that raise horse even have an amature harness league in elkart and legrange county, over I think three tracks, one day I will head up for a race I think to see if its worth the hype and get some amish baked goods while I am at it, if I had my way I would love to see em put in a race track up here in auburn we are all about cars, but there is just too much development and its mostly doctors and automotive industry big money up here, they would not like the dust or noise, though we have several times had auburns auto company club cars like cords and dussenburgs do an exibition drag race a few times for fun, at an airport locally a few times they call it a gentlemens dragrace, basicly let the old finest antique cars do what they were made to do back 100 ish years ago, as dussinburgs built race cars and cord was also high performance for their day like the porshas and lambos of their age or like the marmons but they were high performance for their day road cars and roadsters. I cant even though figure out why they wont put in a running track at the old kruse auctionpark that is to be a sports complex for youth and amature sports since it was bought, got soccer football baseball softball, basketball and volly ball planned and a spash pad, but no obstical course or running track only a walking trail though with any luck they will have road races hosted there, but no ice arena either sarry for the tangent history guy. it was a great race at winchester for the second silver crown vogaler classic and the thunder roadsters as well as the old vintage midgets sprints and openwheel indy cars and replicas of them that ran parade laps so we could hear them even one or two had mighty offys in them. and sleek and huge those old 50's roadster cars that were slightly flatter looked like a rocket as well as the old 40's midgets with the cigar nose looks like its flying just sitting still like streamlined modern artwork.
Awesome video of my favorite series. The race I went to this year at Winchester with this bunch this spring was one of the best races I have ever seen live! Congratulations Kody you are a class act!
@@ronfox5519 I would have liked to have seen that one. Not being able to put the power down equals out the competition and makes for a better race. Thanks for watching...HMM
