Just woke up turned on RUclips and guess who I saw ?Really was so glad to see my friend .The crochet facts is really interesting and your blanket is really pretty.
I didn't know there was such a thing as International Crochet Day. The facts you presented were very interesting. Your blanket is GORGEOUS! Just stunning. Yes that would be very warm to work on without AC.
Sadly, the Japanese summers are SO HOT!!! AirCon in studio should be replaced by next Friday, so it’ll be a relief. My living room is definitely cooler in temps. 😊❤️
I love making blankets. Any size, any type as long as it isn't pieced. Pieced projects fall into their own category for me. In Texas I only start blankets during the summer. Once they get to a certain size they go into time-out until the heat breaks. My favorite "utility" blanket stitch is double crochet three together. I love the modest texture, the ease of figuring out stitch counts (none! just end and/or begin rows with standard doubles if need be), and that it works for pretty much ANY yarn. I always have a lot of Hobby Lobby Soft Secret, Soft and Sleek and I Love This yarn scraps because I do love those yarns. I make scrap blankets, throws, shawls, beanies and such from them. I even make up little motifs and stash them in a bag I keep just for that purpose. Once I have enough of those bits and bobs, I plan to make up a freeform blanket, or maybe a sweater, by putting them all together. It makes sense in my head . . . . I have some wood and some bone curing that I hope to try fashioning crochet hooks and knitting and tapestry needles from. All from trees and animals from my own property (I'm trying chicken, turkey, deer, oak, locust, bois d'arc, elm) and nothing being wasted includes bone when possible. I'm interested in learning how things were done and what tools were used in preindustrial times. Those shepherds' hooks are very interesting! I could whip out a set of those! I'll have to check them out. Thanks for sharing. Love your generosity of spirit and your curious nature. Happy harvest season!
I love that you love making blankets! I LOVE doing throws and wraps. The big, BIG ones get a bit hard on the hands for me at times. I would LOVE to see those hooks, if you make them! As an indigenous (well, 1/2. Mom is Caribou Inuit), I love seeing the entirety of an animal being utilized. Too May just waste the gifts that our Mother supplies to us. I love the spirit of your comment, and I hope that doesn’t sound strange. Thank you so much for sharing, and Blessed Harvest Season! 🍁🤎
Hi Diana! I'm quite amazed by hearing your story. We are both of Canadian French descent, it seems, because you call your grandmother the same as I call my grandmother. Also, I was born and raised in the same city in Connecticut that you were! I'm wondering if we knew each otherback then. I would love to chat with you, and my email is in the description box of all my videos. I look forward to hearing from you.
Hi, I started a star stitch blanket for my husband. He wanted a stitch that was not open. It is still in a bag. I kept messing up on the end or beginning of each row. I want the sides straight. 😢 I have not frogged it yet. I have not given up. 😊
I’ve done a star stitch blanket! I used stitch markers at the beginning and end of every row (so I don’t over it under stitch). Also, if I’m doing any stitch bigger than a single crochet (such as HDC, DC, TC…) I just chain one, turn, and start my new row in that first stitch space. It keeps my edges straight. 😊❤️
🎉Thank you for sharing crochet history and facts! Seeing the flat hook was so interesting! Have a blessed day!🥰
Hi Diana,
Good to see you.
I love hearing about crochet history.
Take care, and have a great day. 🐞
Very cool! I'm interested to learn more about shepherds crochet. I'll have to do some reading and research!!

If I'm not crocheting some kind of blanket, I feel kinda lost 😮
