I've used Bimmercode to change the instrument cluster to other available options, but I really want to do a complete/custom reskin. Round gauges would be nice, plus a larger digital speed in the center.

Thank you. The BC button was the only piece I was missing. They’re not very customizable but this was helpful

Just moved from a 9 years of VAG cars to a 340i, I would say VAG cars are more intuitive. Just my assumption but drivers of BMWs tend to stick with the manufacturer so would know their way around the settings etc. I have had to watch lots of videos to get a basic understanding of the various options. I do like the iDrive controller, not touching the screen is a master stroke by BMW

The instrument cluster map display is a bit useless. Displaying the tach on the HUD would be nice. BMW doesn’t do this for the X3 M40i.

Thank you dude. Just bought my X3 today and was wanting to change some settings. (The part that you can cycle through using the b/c).
I KNOW THAT NOW YOU USE THE B/C TO DO IT!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

I’ve got the latest Merc GLE with MBUX, as well as a 2021 5 series Beemer ….. and the Merc system is way better and much more customisable. But having said that the BMW system is fine and gives me all the basis I need …. Speed, revs and average mpg plus navigation.

Mercedes MBUX is much better (all three sections can be customised). BMW's digital gauge is very restrictive to only the right.

Mercedes kitchen sink approach isn’t without its problems. They have so many iterations of their software at this point, lots of stuff will just die on the vine with them. Mercedes is the super booji innovative ADHD kid who has lots of great ideas and moves on before mastering anything. Like being first is the most important thing to them and then they quickly grow bored. This is why their UI’s are sometimes painful to use, BMW’s may be less exiting, but it’s still very nice and the better attempt at standardization helps adoption across the board.

As to the reverse tach, you get used to it real quick.

I am so fussy. I guess it's because when I buy an expensive car, there are certain things that might be trivial to someone else that are important to me. For example I want to be able to appreciate the design of the instruments I am looking at. And I hate the BMW digital display. Every single car with a digital display that I have ever driven, can do the angled left and right view with the big centre part used for other info, just like all modern BMWs and as shown here. But they can ALL also do multiple traditional analog style round instrument cluster options. Why can't BMW? It's weird and it's a deal breaker for me. I want my round speedo and tacho, period. Something like the way the VW group do it is how they should all be.

You don’t think he should’ve found a spot with less glare?? I’d have closed the blind on the panoramic sunroof (assuming it has one) if that was me.

I hate their dash and I'm considering Audi because of it. Want round gauges. This is too clunky.

The instrument clusters are really shit, as they are digital then why can't we change the rpm's to the correct way, also it should be easy to have and choose a decent looking speedo instead of that crap thing, there should be endless possibilities !
