  • This is a brief review of the Shimano XTR pedals. I compare them briefly to the Crank Brothers Mallet E's.
***Worthy to note is that the Shimano XTR spindle SEAL issue as of October 31st 2021 is still unresolved-per Shimano.**"
Thus you cannot buy these pedals, with my understanding, without having the seal walkout issue. The XT pedals do not have this issue.

I have the same issue on my M-9100 pair. The seals already came out as brand new. And over 1 month of use the seals don't even look like rubber.

So disappointing for what is supposed to be their flagship. If you were doing it again, would you go for the PD-8120 XT's instead? I haven't heard they have this issue, but I hear tons of people say the XTR's are doing this, and it scares me to make the investment over the XT's.

I would definitely try the XT version. I am still riding on The Mallot E's, but will probably switch again to the Shimano because of how stable and planted that I felt on them. I have not met anybody that has an issue with the XT pedal.

@@samuraioodon XT does not have the same issues, as they have a different spindle. I would return them. this is a manufacturer's defect that is known. If those seals don't work your pedals will not last very long.

I added 3 o-rings to each spindle, problem solved.
