Hi. Im an Occupational Therapist. I would suggest pulling the sweater/t-shirt over your head first towards your chest, then take your non-affected arm out followed by your affected arm. I hope that helps.
This demonstration is for someone with one sided weakness. Many people are not able to reach over with an arm and slip it in the sleeve as easily as this person did.
It’s not as easy as it looks. You are getting the shirt ready to put on using 2 hands. Many times you move your “bad” arm to adjust each shirt. This is not possible. Video would be best using an actual person who doesn’t have use of the arm and describe what they are doing as they dress.
You have wrist extension and shoulder flexion to assist but what if someone is flaccid throughout.
I don’t do it that way but use good side first and throw over to direct my left arm as my shoulder also doesn’t work.
You have 2 functional arms so threading the hemi arm was easy. A true hemi pt would need to use their stronger arm to lift up hemi hand into shirt.
Thank you
I find getting dressed is manageable but getting things off again is almost impossible with items with no buttons. Any tips would be appreciated!

Love this video-unfortunately my patients never have loose clothing.
Thank you! Maybe you could add Undressing as well? :)
We will put that on our to-do list!
