Yes since you were working for the government and the government was paying you it's effectively a benefit.
School should be free
You got 12 years of free want taxpayers to pay off your rent or mortgage to?
School is free. You just need to slightly apply yourself. The amount of scholarships that are given away is astounding.
Congratulations! Yes, school should be free or at least reasonable.
Congratulations, I'm very happy for you!!!
Same here. Still owed $200k after paying through my career, started out at $47k with sign on bonus; worked at the VA and a public hospital 14 years, all gone!
Thank the working class you liberal pos!
Yes, you were forgiven 350k ...but in reality within the last ten years as a doctor you could have made millions and changed the lives of many people around you. However, you chose the income based plan with serious income restrictions . Not sure if I should smile or cry. In any event, congratulations and best of wishes.
$50,000 for residency, working 80/yrs a week average is $12.02/hour… that’s straight up LESS THAN MINIMUM WAGE after you adjust for inflation from the $7.25/hr from 2009 purchasing power.
The system takes that of indentured servitude.
Agreeeeeeeeeee!! Nobody ever tells you that or dies the math. Plus the long sleepless nights plus exposure to all the freaking germs AnD COVID. It is exhausting!
Its also a training program needed to become a boarded physician and make those big salaries so yes its indentured servitude but not unlike other job training programs (many are unpaid). Heck as a cadet at a service academy, I made $80 a month take home... where did that put me on the hourly schedule and 12 hour days were normal there too.
Congratulations. I think situations such as yours make sense for the government as you were working at an actual government hospital... the ones I take some issue with is the non profit PSLF since most medical practices and hospitals are under the non profit tax shield... however they end up acting very much like a for profit.
Yes school should be free
Yes yes yes they should be free.
Congratulations! 🎉 I’m curious, do you not now owe taxes on your forgiven loans? I’ve recently heard that forgiven loans are still subject to taxation each year on the forgiven amount unless you’re considered insolvent or partially insolvent. 🤔
If he did PSLF no, taxes are not assessed.
Here’s the Issue. 400k into most other business will increase your income by 20-40k a year and it’ll compound exponentially.
Put 400k into medical school and you will increase your salary by maybe that much when you average it out. But it’s compounded linearly.
$50,000 for 120 hours is less than $4 per hour. Doctors make LESS than minimum wage in this country!
He was a resident to be clear…doctor in training.
Congrats!!!
I feel like depending on the occupation there may be some assistance after the first 4 because you need to have a reason to not go to school after high school if you want the ground level jobs that are needed to support the higher level jobs and it gives the people who are smarter and can earn scholarships more reason to go and use there smarts
I believe that you should not charge people for your services.
Exactly wants it all for free but when it comes to work. “Where is my paycheck and my cucumber im a f@g meal that he is making.”
Lots of nice things must be nice living off other people
If tax payers didn't want me to have 50 50 custody for my daughter. They can pay my student loans
NO
Yeah, but the government shouldn't repay them. The people should've dealt with predatory loan sharks before they became a problem
I think you should honor the contract you agreed to. It’s called Accountability.
Most don’t even qualify for these debt forgiveness programs.😢
If it becomes free only the smartest will get in people forget this Lmfao 🤣
NOTHING IS "FREE".
Yes it should be free
Nope
@@paladinanderson8433 it should be way cheaper though!
@@Sinvullz you mean like it would be if the government didn't give out loans so everyone can pay 15k+ a year so universities might lose students by charging 15k+ a year. That would lower prices overnight.
Your a doctor though... just pull a splinter out of a kids finger youl have enough to pay it back.
Plus the 1 hour cut takes to code and the 6 months to bill insurance IF the patient has insurance!
