    It is so amazing to see Amari coming into who she is as a Huskie. The more confidence she builds the better that team will be. She is a force and when she fully embraces it in that uniform she is going to be practically hard to stop. So glad to see that they are giving her more time to grow in the game instead of respite minutes; the more well rounded the team will be and the less she will make mistakes. She is going to be needed going into the post season no doubt. That was a great TEAM win. Go Huskies

    • @soraite9775
      @soraite9775 Год назад +8

      With only 7 players available no doubt she is going to be needed. But yeah, she isnt only there because there are only 2 bench players left but also because she has improved a lot.

    • @emmra2218
      @emmra2218 Год назад +4

      @Soraite that's a true statement no doubt. but it's good to she her bringing some of her skillset to bear. There were a few possessions where she had good strong post up and seal, but she didn't get the ball, and they need to work on that. Getting her the ball inside will put the other team behind the whistle and expedite Amari's maturation. High screens and holding the ball looking for the cutter isn't going to serve well under pressure. High screen, pass to the wing baseline player cuts through taking their man, Amari drops and post up and if floor spacing is setup to strip the help, let her post and bang. She'll probably be more comfortable and acclimate to the game quicker.
      My motto to my team was if you could see ten fingers (post with a good seal with hands up and open to close on the ball on the catch) and the number on the front of that jersey clearly; she better get the ball. It's hard battling in the lane, and if I won the battle, then feed me. I played post, and my daughters played in the post. I know it when I see it. But it doesn't stick around long, and watching her HS footage and MAA play; Amari is truly capable of it. There's still some uncertainty but you're right, you can definitely see the improvement.
      With no real return date on Azzi or Caroline; it's going to be bumpy ride so if Amari can come into her own and give some good quality minutes, that will definitely help Aliyah and Dorkha for sure. And Lopez Senchal is her. Go Huskies!

    • @northerniggy8261
      @northerniggy8261 Год назад +3

      Amari needed a game like this to truly feel she can contribute when on the court. The team needed her to have a game like this one. She played with joy and found ways to be efficient. Still needs to figure out how to play team defense, still fouling too much because of late rotations/poor position. But her shot selection and passes were way better. Good minutes from her.

    • @emmra2218
      @emmra2218 Год назад +1

      @Northern Iggy I agree. She has to be more instinctive and less robotic. She runs the play to exactness, but there's always wiggle room, so she needs to loosen up, which will give her better freedom of movement. You can tell when the offense hit a snag because she becomes unsure where to pass or if she should shoot or attack, and I think that'll resolve itself with more minutes. But she also has to start stunting at the paint penetrator as opposed to full tilt close out which leaves the backdoor open just show close out motion with one or two steps in their direction but drop back into her defensive paint protection and she'll get more stops/clean blocks/steals. She's long enough that if she keeps good defensive posture by bending her knees and not her back, she can recover quicker she'll be able to snag passes out of the air when she jumps to intercept the pass. They are bending their backs on defense, not their knees. They draw her up the lane just to drop it into the paint, but with a bit consistency of hard solid work in practice coupled with good in game minutes, she'll get there.

  • @soraite9775
    @soraite9775 Год назад +39

    AALIYAH! WOW! Amazing! Even on the top level she plays on she still keeps getting better and better every game. Could create a highlight clip of the game and only fill it with plays Aaliyah was involved easily. Dorka also crazy strong and Nika only threw away the balls once - big improvement!
    It is again incredible how good the UCONN defense is at locking down the top scorer of their opposing teams, like every game they make the top scorers go from 20+ PPG to single digits.

    Can't stop speculating on how deadly this team would quickly become with just a modicum of decent luck!!! Obviously, the healthy return of Azzi, Caroline & Ayanna (with a sufficient # of regular season games left for our top lineup to jell before tournament time). We'd be adding the best shooter in the country to our 103 point scoring team tonight!!...plus Caroline who we know can get very hot, very fast. Then throw in our powerful promising freshman, Ayanna...and behold, another Uconn beast team.

    Outstanding game with some exceptional individual plays and a few amazing team plays. Individually I liked Nika's shooting and Amari's calm careful play (like bouncing the pass from a seated position or the perfect "entry" pass to Dorka) and similarly the consistent strong performance of Dorka. Do the referees not like Lou? She's been getting hit a lot without foul calls. SH just didn't have the team to challenge UConn.

How is the vacation on the bench??? They are hurt but slackers on the bench!!! I hurt every day and so is Coach... We wake up roll out of bed hurt differently daily!!! Muster some courage and get back to work!!!! Amari did good this game. Took her alil minute to get in game flow but that’s okay. The only problem I have is she is instead of just playing the game as it comes to her she always try to run the play as it’s drawn out it feels like. So she doesn’t mess up or something. But she plays her best when she improves and plays within the game. Also can someone do some hand strengthening drills with dorka she’s always getting the ball snatched away or hit out her hand

    • @northerniggy8261
      @northerniggy8261 Год назад +2

      Good observation.. the game has not 'slowed down' yet for Amari like it has for Aaliyah, Dorka, Nika and Aubrey. In a lot of ways, DeBerry is still a rookie with a lot of raw talent, but the connections are not clicking as quickly in her head. However she is finding ways to be a net positive contributor.. on one of the best teams in D1 college womens... which is no small task. Rooting for her.

    • @deanna8487
      @deanna8487 Год назад

      @@northerniggy8261 the game probably hasn’t slowed down for her. But when I watch her play she always seems so timid & trying to force a play instead of just playing and reading what defenses give her. Yunno improvising. But once she stays in for alittle bit she starts just playing and improvising & making smart passes. If she starts playing that way every time she comes in she will find her minutes … but when she comes in committing turnovers he will continue to sit her because sadly that is not a luxury this year. If everyone was healthy she would be able to grow and develop more.

    I would like to have seen Amari and Ines play more minutes in this game. I know a lot of people think they suck, but they aren't going to get better sitting on the bench. When you're up by 20 with 5 minutes left in the first half, and 28 at halftime, there's no reason not to put them out there, get them playing time and experience, and save your starters.

    I do believe that the Huskies can still win the championship without the starters,. If only the bench players,. Learn thier roles, If they really understand the simple way of scoring without the ball in their hands,. That's by back cutting to the basket , (2) front cutting,. Proper spacing,. (3) shoot from the spot of the catch 7 to 8 feet , facing the basket,. (4) No back to the basket offense moves , because they are skilled enough.
