Polarizing Filters: Why They're Awesome

- I recently got a Polarizing filter for my camera, and made this video to show you how they work and why you might want to get one. It's a really cool effect that filters out polarized light, which can help remove reflections and glare, the same way you get polarized sunglasses.

The iPhone 6 and 6 plus (6s and 6s plus included) have polarizing filters built into the display.

There is one other filter you can't replicate: a graduated filter. There are different levels of darkness, and often times the ones that can slide like the filter system you have work great to pick where you want the gradation to start taking effect, but for outdoor photography where you'll be photographing part of the sky as well as land it's incredible. Sort of like a high dynamic range photograph, but using a single photograph.

What happends if i take a selfie with an mirror with this filter???
Not much would happen. This is because mirrors use a metallic film on the back side of a piece of glass to reflect light. Light that reflects off of a metallic material does not get polarized like it does when reflecting off of non-metallic materials. Therefore the polarization filter could not block all of the light coming from the mirror.

But he didn't even mention what polarization is, and indeed he didn't explain how these filters works. He explained how they are 'used'.
