Big tip: if you’re buying the big container of mixed greens and are not finishing it, put the rest in a Ziploc bag and freeze it! You can add some to smoothies and even soups!
Tried this with spinach and it gave my smoothie a horrible aftertaste. I'd suggest only using frozen greens in savory warm meals, like a hardy lentil soup. Won't even be able to tell that they've been frozen.
Also this works for lettuce it may work for spinach too. First get a gallon ziplock bag & place a paper. Towel in the bottom the put the all of the the lettuce or spinach in. We do it with our lettuce & it works wonderfully.
I am a crock pot fanatic lol I've lost 60lbs this last year and lowered my cholesterol and most of that was due to slow cooking chicken breast. I'll do 3 breasts at a time just cover with chicken broth (or bouillon in warm water) and cook on low for 8 hours and you've got tasty shredded chicken for multiple meals through out the week!
@@MorticiaAddams23 lol I just try to make a lower calorie version of things I love. Lots of burrito bowls, brown rice, shredded seasoned chicken, black beans, lettuce. I cut waaaaaaay back on fast food as well which helped a lot in the beginning. But now I'm not so focused on the calorie deficit, I just eat what I want and watch my portion sizes😊
Hi!! I’m really late to this video, but I wanted to say thank you for the relaxed tone that you take around food. I’m recovering from an eating disorder, and I’m trying meal prep as a way to reduce my stress around food decisions (it’s easier to make a choice once a week than it is 3 times a day every day) but this is the first video on meal prep I’ve watched so far where there’s no undertone of restrictive and diet culture entrenched habits bleeding into peoples narrative. You seem so calm, and it’s very refreshing to find on RUclips. Thank you 💕
I absolutely love the 5,4,3,2,1 shopping. I always stress about shopping, especially when trying to eat healthier cuz I'm so indecisive and don't know what to do with stuff I get. I will definitely be using that, it's so simple but seems so efficient
Woman to woman, stop catering to the people who pick and complain. Lots of disclosures. This video is exactly what I was looking for and I appreciate the content.
5. Green beans, broccoli, carrots, capsicums, sweet potato and/or any other root vegetable in season. Not a fruit eater at all 4. Chicken, bacon, ground beef/steak, salmon 3. Flavoured rice (home made or packet), rigatoni, sourdough bread 2. Bacon fat, butter (olive oil only on salad) 1. A little honey in my overnight oats. I don't indulge in sweets at all because that's what got me into Fat City in the first place I come from an eastern European background so I grew up eating close to the land and full fat everything.
A tip for anybody who has a really bad back like I do and can't stand for very long. Years ago I got into using a stool very similar to what doctors use. Round on wheels. I scoot all around the kitchen and it's tall enough that I can actually cook at the stove
struggling with a restrictive ed and making decisions on what to eat takes a lot out of me. i wanted to learn how to meal prep so i can eat the foods i like and are safe for me without the stress or panic of portions/nutrients. thank you so much for the tips, willl definitely use them!
I work full time and am starting school (part time) next week. I’m the type of person who typically cooks nightly so I was feeling so discouraged at the thought of all the meal prepping two or three meals to repeat throughout the week as I have a hard time with leftovers or repeat meals. The idea of ingredient prepping is a nice reframe for me. So thank you so much for the tips and tricks! I’m feeling much better about going into this now.
I LOVE how authentic you are with your videos. You show who you are and your “ bad “ cravings and that you don’t live a perfect life, just like all of us. I fuckijg hate the people who portray their lives like that.
I have used foods that have been frost burnt and they were fine. I was sick last week - like bed bound level sick. I dug in my freezer looking for something to make my life easier and found a meal prepped potato pie.... that i made at least 12 months prior and had freezer burn and a build up of ice on the lid. Being sick as i was and desperately needing easy food, i baked that sucker and it was SO FREAKING GOOD!! Don't let a bit of freezer birn or icicle build up scare you away. Just make sure anything with freezer birn gets cooked in a way that will rehydrate the food 😘
In addition to meal prep, let’s prep the produce when we get home. Putting a half sheet of paper towel inside the clamshell containers will extend the life of the berries and greens. Thanks for a great video.
Great video! Great information and I love that you’re not preaching to us about organic and blah, blah, blah. You’re talking about real food that is accessible to everyone. Well done!
I know this is a year in since this video has been out. But I am a chef for a living and I’m terrible at meal prepping, and this video is making me feel better about the whole topic and helping me figure out what to do in total. Thank you so much for making this for us hard-headed folk😂💜
hi, may I ask where did you study? and how did you get a job as a chef? it's something I would love to do but I feel like these doors are just closed for me-
I love the frozen banana tip as I was cutting it in half. Your way also offers me an easier way to pop in two or three circles for a quick snack! Great content, and keep doing you! 👏
The pre-chopped veggies don't last as long because they're, quite literally, older. They're made to be consumed quickly, preferably within 2 days. Not to mention, they also cost more. I do agree that's it's more cost effective to buy bulk, or buy whole fresh veggies and then prepare them at home.
Thank you so much! This is helping me so much! I struggle with routine and organising badly was never shown how to be organised for anything was raised pretty lazy so I became a lazy arse sadly and been struggling ever since so this video is has been so helpful and I love your attitude on life which I find a lot of RUclipsrs don't do they make it sound like I should feel bad for not already doing it all but you're amazing!!! Thank you! thank you! thank you! 🥰❤️
I wanna see someone make a video of them processing all their groceries to put them away haha. Idk about you but after I go grocery shopping I am WIPED and never want to process everything.
Kayla has a video from 5 months ago titled Healthy Meal Prep but it's a lot of her taking her groceries and processing them to set herself up for a successful week. It was really helpful for me and I share that all the time with friends who are struggling to prep for the week!
I’ve seen so many meal prep videos and I’ve never seen the tip you gave with 54321! That is so smart. I get so caught up with what am I even supposed to buy. Thank you
Absolutely loved your video. I am super inspired to try out all of your tips!!! I love your content! Thank you so much for explaining everything, and for making it more relatable. 😊
Great video can you help me I hate cooking I don’t want to meal prep but need too/ have too I work out of town and a lot of the time all I have to cook with is a electric skillet 2 weeks at a time. Edit I’ll eat anything and everything but mushrooms
This is super helpful, do you have any ideas of easy meals, or something if last min youre struggling to get that drive to meal prep? For example, as a person who struggles with depression, there will be some weeks where i just dont have the drive to do anything, and thats where ill just give up and buy the school meals. Im really trying to save though, so i just dont want to get stuck in that loop again
Do you do this for 1 person like if you were using the 54321 thing for 2 ppl would you double that or keep it as 54321? Sorry ik thats probably confusing lol
Attn Kayla! Thank you for the heros discount tip for olipop! Did you know Brooks Running started a sports medicine discount (PTAs included!). It’s huge, like 60% off I think. Please keep these hot tips coming! You are amazing, darling! 💖💖💖
