I thought that was hilarious in the film. Maitreyi is so full of life and energetic on Never Have I Ever and to hear her being so monotone and low in Turning Red was super funny.
Miriam is like the cool headed matriarch of the friend group. She is protective and supportive much like how a mother is supposed to be. Ironically she kinda puts undue pressure on Mei to be a rebel while her mom pressures her into obedience. They're like two sides of the same coin.

Holding yourself back does precisely that, turn you into a pressure cooker. Ming matures into someone like Miriam by the end. Miriam will be the happiest as she grows up or the most miserable if she’s lying to herself.
Speaking of voice actors... the old guy who performs the ritual is also Mr Ping, Po's adoptive goose father in the KFP movies. He can't seem to get away from Pandas...

Wow Turning Red is just an A+ for the movie, A+ for the cast, and A+ for the crew. I just love the making Turning Red Embrace the Panda behind the scenes. The crew just made an AMAZING product. Huge props to Pixar executives for allowing this creative freedom! Just WOW 🤩
