Barbara is amazing- and so inspiring as a opera singer, conductor, actress, and woman.
what a clear speaker she is, as well as being an excellent soprano
It is amazing to think that Berg's opera is almost 100 years old. How fortunate we are that Barbara Hannigan walks among us channeling Lulu--an operatic character that can be mentioned in the same breath as Carmen, Isolde, and Azucena, and not found wanting.
I love both of them: Barbara and Lulu!
What an amazing singer, and inspiring artist and what an incredible insight into this opera.
An amazing insight into what it means to perform such a visceral role as Lulu - many thanks for uploading.
She says it all. I feel like crying everytime I think of Lulu.
sie ist eine schöne frau .... eine geniale musikerin .... durch und durch.... wunderbar... dass die schöpfung uns diese Frau... dieses Genie geschenkt hat-. denn sie versteht, was sie darstellt.
Gleichfalls.
I admire Barbara Hannigan. Multitalented woman!
Ach, sie ist so schoen und so klug!
Fantasic presentation. I saw Welsh National Opera do Lulu last month. One hell of a show.
I am a new fan of Barbara....perfect in English, French, and German
Bravo, Barbara! I felt that you were the right Lulu since I saw you on RUclips. I bought the opera at La Monnaie and since I saw you, I felt not disappointed. You are unbelievable good...and you dance pretty well (I prefer your voice...hehehe). I created a group on Facebook called Alban Berg with a French message. You are there many times. Thank you for singing so well. Thank you for liking Lulu.
Oh Barbara, what an Artist you are!
Brilliant!
Diva Barbara opera 😍😍
her German is very clear
Amo a Lulú y a Bárbara.(Soy soltero,sin compromiso y...recién tomé una ducha...).

I'm in love with Barbara Hannigan and I could be her son :(
You said there were seals around your seaside cottage in Nova Scotia, but...um...
Were there any visible otters?
Barbara Hannigan is immensely talented, beautiful, and articulate, and by her own testimony, remarkably narcissistic. Clearly, like Lulu, Barbara is the center of her own universe.
+scmager There is a level of narcissism in most musicians you'll find, without it we'd completely lose our minds...
Of course, a degree of self-respect -- self-love, if you will -- is necessary to healthy human existence -- for everyone. The ideal is somewhere in the middle between the extremes of narcissism and mere self-preservation. What musicians really require is not narcissism, but a measure of self-absorption. Musicians must cultivate an inner life, which sometimes can be insular. It cannot be helped. And after all, selfLESSness, not selfishness, must be learned. But in the end, it is communal music-making that is most rewarding and satisfying, and this kind of musicianship, that strives after resonance and fruitful partnership, rarely flourishes with divas and prima donnas. It's like happy love-making -- it thrives on surrender and a joyful lack of self-consciousness. Stardom has no place in it.
I think her narcissist and exhibitionist streaks actually serve her artistic expression well - they enable her to do interesting stuff. Also, she seems to go along well with her fellow musicians (mind, I merely conclude that from what I have seen on videos here, I may well be wrong about that particular point).
And she is the center of mine too :))
Where can I see her testimony about being remarkably narcissistic? Thank you!
Because your voice is a thin acidic howly high soprano. Lulu is an obnoxious and fascinating opera where the title role works having an obnoxious and irritating high voice and a body that can be convincing as a dancer. It can all be a lot of fun.
Don't kill me for saying this, but when I clicked on this video, I thought she was going to talk about the horrible collaboration between Metallica and Lou Reed. After watching the first few seconds, now I feel like a dumbass.
I tough she was playing timpani from the thumbnail.
lol
They put you through too much wearing points.
Why get angry with the imaginary fate of your voice, Barbara Hannigan? some singers get better and better with age - but I hope NOT that fräulein Lulu is a role model for you - it is not exactly a feminist opera! "Pandora´s box" the Wedekind play is called.
