Evangelion is insane in how perfectly it does tonal shifts, one moment you’re laughing, the next you’re emotionally distraught. Also you’re pushing RUclips by having naked rei.
The end of Evangelion is just like “fuck you” with its scenes, how is it that it goes from episodes 25 & 26 to just those to the fucking movie that absolutely rocks your shit like it is crazy.
Basically the series ends with shinji merge ing withe the rest of humanity and accepting the human instrumentality project, he makes peace with his past mistakes , the shows main characters souls congratulate him and he sits in the void peacefully with the rest of humanity merged. Much of the fan base didn’t like this so they made end of evangelion. Which is if shinji rejected the instrumentality project, and accepts that he’s human and that he has flaws and heartbreak will come along the way. Since rei merged with Lilith, that being her main physical makeup and having his mother’s soul, and us seeing how Lilith fell apart i don’t think that rei came back. Basically asuka and shinji are stuck on a post apocalyptic earth together. Whether there are other humans I’m not sure. That’s how end of evangelion is explained tho.

Humanity can choose to go back and regain their form if that's their will. The end where Shinji and Asuka came back after willing so, they became the new Adam and Eve (The first human beings to come back after instrumentality).
W take. I agree Gurren Lagann gives me the badass epic mech fighting another giant mech is an epic showdown if badassery and crazy ideals with goofy characters and uplifting speeches. It gives me motivation and strength to advance with each turn until I drill through and pierce the heavens. Evangelion on the other hand, gives me a more realistic take on people, and far more heartbreak. It has very real characters, and has me constantly worried about their health. They feel like people. They're all wildly imperfect. The kids feel like kids. Yeah, it's hella confusing, but after like a month of processing, what I took away from Eva perfectly contrasts and aligns with the motivation I recieved from TTGL. TTGL gives me the motivation, strength and drive. NGE gives me the understanding that I'm imperfect, it reminds me that it's okay to be imperfect. It lets me know that setbacks are both unavoidable and acceptable. It also teaches me that it's detrimental to let myself get too wrapped up in my own head. It reminds me that everyone has their own problems, and then we humans are social creatures. We need to support each other to truly shine. "Destiny" Combining these two takeaways make the contrasting shows a perfect match for each other. The lessons I learned from them merge into one. While it may be time for me to stop running and cast off the boy I used to be, I know it's not such a simple process, but I also know to seek help when I can't do it alone, and that the setbacks are natural. I'm not wrong for failing from time to time, but as long as I keep going, I'll break through. If you can't run, walk. If you can't walk, crawl. But by all means, keep moving. Even if you don't go straight forward. Even if you get lost along the way. Even if you're being pushed by another. Even if you're being dragged by your teeth. Even if you feel like nails on a chalkboard. You are undeniably imperfect, but with help and health, you can press onwards infinitesimally. Just never stay still long enough to stagnate.
