Father Very thought provoking. “Get rid of the Jets.” As a Jet and Met fan I can assure you that it enables you to deeply understand another theological tenet- the redemptive value of suffering.
There's this quote from a play by a famous theatre group here in Slovakia - "do you know what dwarves dream about? That one day they'll be tall? No. That one day everyone else will be as short as them." In the spirit of this idea, I don't want to remove the jets. They aren't objectively annoying. It is me who perceives them as annoying. And I don't understand why God should want me to perceive them that way. Why should he, through his design, force me to feel annoyed? I often find myself annoyed by something without ever asking for such an attitude. What I would like to have instead is the freedom to choose what may annoy or frustrate me. Wouldn't it be beneficial to all involved parties if when my roommate wants to stay up until 5 am, I could choose to fall asleep just like I can choose to close my eyes?

Yeah, totally evil. Christ at the moment of His incarnation or birth could have redeemed mankind by virtue of condescending His dignity. A man toils and by the sweat of his brow earns a wage. That wage is representative of the time, sweat and injury he sustains to his body. He takes those things, which a mere wage can not properly compensate, and uses it to buy a piece of finery. That finery is presented to his love. "I exhausted myself for days on end to give this to you. This is a symbol of my love to you." The same can be said of Christ's passion. This is wonderful XD Such a well thought out and funny script, but the real reason, to highlight why things _just maybe_ make sense as they are when considering God, is very clever.
Fr. Casey, i have enjoyed your musings over the years and this was easily one of your best efforts. I agree with much of what you say here but still, there is a vast chasm between utopia on earth and what many face here. I accept the notions that free will means that some will abuse it to the detriment of others and that some suffering can actually be good for the soul (no pain, no gain). However, must there be so much pain? I am a Pediatrician and daily see things children and their families endure which have nothing to do with choices made; they are a result of how the world in which we live operates. Sickle cell anemia, childhood cancer, autism and any number of other profound developmental issues amongst others cause a pain which can not be understood unless witnessed. I can see no amount of good that can justify what children thus afflicted endure. I do not doubt the existence of God. I am more certain of His existence than I am of yours. I do not doubt His love for us. I have felt His presence in my life. The older I get and the more I see, however, the harder time I have reconciling my belief with my faith. I have been struggling with this for some time now and desperately need some means of finding a balance between the two. If you have the time, put in a good word for me.
This world is just a dress rehearsal for when we stand in the presence of our creator. When we all get live with the one who loves us the most. The fact that God in the person of Jesus the Christ came to Earth and took his own medication is the greatest act of love. Our God does loves us. We just have to chose to love him.
2:47 if Fr. Casey intentionally slotted an ad right on this timestamp, you'll find me rolling all the way to next Tuesday. I got one and I immediately got whiplash.
The points are very valid and relevant! We all want an easy life, but it is the difficulties and hardships we face that makes the triumphs mean more. We appreciate the good times if we also know how the bad times feel.
Humans, so much for being “rational” beings, cannot truly live without struggle and sacrifice. But the biggest source of their own suffering is their belief that, if the blessings and miracles they want are far away, God is also far away from them. The truth is that we are closest to Him when we are suffering, because that is when we need and want miracles to happen the most, and it helps us become more willing to put our faith in Him. God’s way is not our ways and never will be.
The first half I was thinking this could be taken verbatim from some sort of Athiest video and was pretty confused, glad that it got cleared up by the end. Also suffering specifically can be used as a way to bring us closer to God and cause repentance.
Yes Father. I'm guilty of the same sins over and over again. I haven't been to confession with my local priest because I feel as if I am a hypocrite because I can not avoid committing the same sins. It's a habitual sin. My local priest admosished me that my sin was a "mortal sin". Thus I have not recieved communion since the past 7 to 8 months. I'm going to try to give up my addictive sin before the Easter season where it is required to receive Holy Communion at least once/Year is approaching. I didn't know my sin was a "mortal sin" until my priest told me so. I drink too much because I'm lonely and stay at home alone as a senior citizen. Yes, I need to quit drinking screwdrivers with "titos and OJ" after I'm done with work. But I'm told by my doctors to reduce slowly because to suddenly quit, could mean an increase in high BP or even a stroke. So I stay at home as an adult senior. I'm very lonely and drinking Titos and OJ is the only thing that calms me down after the end of a hard day. This is a mostly recently happening for over the past 10 years, moving from N.J. to Texas and losing my wife, daughter, and son and his wife and my grandson as family members who don't spend time with me. I thought when I moved to Texas, everything would become good again. Well, it's become worse. I agree that my reliance on Titos and O.J. is not approved by my catholic church. However, I'm afraid to confront my local priest who has already admonished my actions as a "mortal sin". So how do I go back to the sacrament of confession when I have done very little, despite my attempt to stop? I guess I'm making a general confession to all of my Catholic church members here and now that I drink too much. But how can I go back to my priest and ask for absolution when my feeble attempts to quit have had a very little effect? Am I doomed to hell even though I've tried to have been a devout catholic all my life? I'm now age 70. I'm afraid to go back to the Sacament of confession because I'm afraid my local priest will not forgive me until I've shown some substantial progress. I've quit drinking during prior lent seasons a few years ago, but in the past few years, after 2 years of success, I've returned to drinking. Should I go back to my local parish priest in Texas or should I wait until someday when I might quit drinking Titos and O.J. completely? I've avoided confession for almost a year because of this issue. I don't want to go through the lent season and not be able to receive communion on Easter Sunday. I need some serious advice and forgiveness from my local parish. I have a feeling there are others out there with similar dilemmas. Can you give all of us offenders some sacramental advice? My dear brothers and sisters, if any of us are in my present situation, please join me in my quest for the proper answer for our reconciliation questions? Are you all willing to joining my task for an understanding that is most important to me and others who also might be in the same state of sin as explained above? Thank you all, brothers and sisters, in advance because we are all sinners and we wish to become those "sheep" that Jesus promised to protect. I admit, I'm one of those black sheep who is teetering at the service edge of the ledge, but who has been promised by our Lord to be saved, no matter how far we have traveled near the cliff of destruction. I pray that we "black sheep" be recognized by our Lord and Saved by our Lord's long hand of justice. Can we all pray that or Lord has recognized that we are the black sheep who have veered near the edge of instructions, but who have also come back as one of our Lord's lost sheep. Our Lord promised that he would not let any of his lost sheep to wander off the edge of destruction. It's a difficult position to be in as a Catholic Church member who is one of Christ's long lost sheep, but one of whom he promised to never let go as one of his to his father. IMHO, Daffidavit.
I feel for you!! Similar struggle with smoking. Wasn't successful until reached out to a state program that provided nicotine patches, uplifting literature, and counselor support. Had prayed for God to remove addiction and that didn't happen. Instead He pointed me to this program through my doctor; I think at a point in time when I could be successful. Everyone's different, but God knows where you're at and will meet you there when you reach out when you're really ready. Don't worry about what may or may not happen in the form of judgment from others. I think we are better off when we don't worry about what others think, do, or say, and we only care about pleasing the Lord. Maybe someone could back this up with scripture.
In this life we can only do our best. God knows that you are trying to avoid committing a mortal sin and that it is quite difficult to stop. I pray that God would help you to make enough progress in cutting back on the alcohol that your priest would grant you absolution and you would be able to receive the Eucharist.
I attend 12 step meetings on a regular basis. I would recommend you find a local meeting and visit. For me, it's an answered prayer from God. The meetings are free, most of the time you do not even have to tell people your name, and you do not have to share if you don't want to. You owe it to yourself.

This is a terrific video. It is truly funny. I don’t think God is responsible for the bad things in the world. He has given us everything - the earth, the universe and all gifts given to us every moment in our lives.
Breaking In The Habit 1- tell both Adam and eve about not eating the fruit 2- not flooding the world and killing almost all life on land 3- not commit genocide against the Amalekites, Canaanites, Moabite etc 4- Not kill children for the sins of their parents 5- Not forgive those who killed the people of Israel, even if they accept Jesus as their Lord and savour 6- Not punish the firstborn mail children of Egypt for the sins of their parents 7- Not condemn homosexuals for how god made them 8- not allow conversion by the sword 9- Not to discriminate against the sick whose pain may cause them to take their own life to limit the duration of pain 10- not to insist that ones one relationship with god ( religion ) is the only possible relationship

I had a theology teacher in High Scholl who said "He was Jesus Christ, not Jesus Claus." Your video reminded me of that discussion.
I think God is perfect the way he is,
It's always been the people causing the problems and expecting God to clean up their mess.
This message is so clear inspiring and insightful to me, thank you.
This was incredibly funny - then incredibly deep. Thanks.
Hummingbirds!!! One of God's best gifts!
Your first point about prayers makes me think of the song Thank God for unanswered prayers.
This world is just a dress rehearsal for when we stand in the presence of our creator. When we all get live with the one who loves us the most. The fact that God in the person of Jesus the Christ came to Earth and took his own medication is the greatest act of love. Our God does loves us. We just have to chose to love him.
And if we don't choose to love him, he'll thrown us into the Lake of Fire to burn forever and be tormented and tortured...because he loves us.
If Heaven is the end goal, doesn't that make this live pointless? What's the point of doing anything if heaven is the end goal.
This was excellent, thank you!!😊👍
2:47 if Fr. Casey intentionally slotted an ad right on this timestamp, you'll find me rolling all the way to next Tuesday. I got one and I immediately got whiplash.
For a minute, I thought you've gone crazy, then saw the messages in the rest of the video. Thanks for the humour and serious message all in one.
This video was so good! It’s good to show humor! Excellent video!!!
God bless you Father. GOOD ONE. Hope to see you at a latin mass soon.
Dear Lord whats happening to your World?
I enjoyed this video very much.
I have many miracles ftom God and I thank him for all and a couple more that will soon.... lam so much love with you lord
Thank you Fr. Casey. Enlightening me❤
The points are very valid and relevant! We all want an easy life, but it is the difficulties and hardships we face that makes the triumphs mean more. We appreciate the good times if we also know how the bad times feel.
So those who died and were tortured in the holocaust had great triumphs before! Look how flawed the argument is.
WOW AMAZING ! Video is a eye opener for sure .. THANK YOU 🙏🏻
Good Girl! 👌
Incidentally, Slave, are you VEGAN? 🌱
I almost fell off my chair on the comment of miles long CVS receipts!
They had us in the first half, not gonna lie
That ad was genius
For one thing God could be less cruel to a lot of innocent people!!
"RUclips ads" *ad immediately plays*
Father - I saw where you were going with this BUT it turned out to be so much more. thank you, for helping me to see…
Free will
Love the use of humor to make your point! It's a good man who can make you laugh as well as make you think.
In the first half I was getting mad at you for saying such things. You really had me there lol
Awesome tongue n cheek vid. Loved it.
Love this video, I would yet rid of Siamese cats, but I'd keep the cats. Bless you for your service to us. on RUclips!
I love this.
When I saw this title, I was like is father Casey questioning God Almighty?
Fortunately, God has given the precious free will
Awesome. Excellent channel. God bless you Father Casey.
Great humer hope everyone enjoyed this. Thank you.
The first half I was thinking this could be taken verbatim from some sort of Athiest video and was pretty confused, glad that it got cleared up by the end. Also suffering specifically can be used as a way to bring us closer to God and cause repentance.
Hilarious! "Ads in the middle of You tube videos" Perfect.
Ads in the middle of You--t....that was perfect timing for the most obnoxious ads I got.
Get to an AA meeting ASAP.
@@dovie2blue Yes, I've been told that years ago by a priest who also had a drinking problem . It thinks its about time I go. Thanks.
I attend 12 step meetings on a regular basis. I would recommend you find a local meeting and visit. For me, it's an answered prayer from God.
The meetings are free, most of the time you do not even have to tell people your name, and you do not have to share if you don't want to. You owe it to yourself.
A really excellent reflection!
Humour is good
I died when he said Ads and then an ad started playing in the middle of his sentence 😂
this was great!
also off topic before watching this i got a pureflix ad for a new movie called the most reluctant covenant the untold story of CS lewis and it honestly looks good!!
The first half of this made me grin so hard
2:48 Agreed 100% cause right when you were saying this, I got an ad. Loved this video, Fr. Casey!
Get us thinking Padre Casey!!!! Humor!! True!! Wise!!! Excellent to put the beatitudes in perspective !!
I see what you did there! Very clever take... let's hope people watch to the end before jumping to conclusions:)
All I could think of was Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty during this video, Father Casey. FYI: my friend and boss Father Dietrich would also eliminate nuts in just about anything. lol!
I just saw this posted in a facebook group and it's obvious they only went off of the title and didn't even watch any of it
So well done. I don't know how you worked it all in.
On the ridding of evil
"The line between good and evil runs straight through the human heart" people fail to realize that if God were to rid the world of evil right now it would include us.
As someone said, put limits/boundaries on the amount of evil.
@@eugenemirovitch1298 How tho?
This is a terrific video. It is truly funny. I don’t think God is responsible for the bad things in the world. He has given us everything - the earth, the universe and all gifts given to us every moment in our lives.
"If I were God, I'd get rid of anything I don't like"
Me: ... yyyyep, I walked into this trap
Breaking In The Habit
1- tell both Adam and eve about not eating the fruit
2- not flooding the world and killing almost all life on land
3- not commit genocide against the Amalekites, Canaanites, Moabite etc
4- Not kill children for the sins of their parents
5- Not forgive those who killed the people of Israel, even if they accept Jesus as their Lord and savour
6- Not punish the firstborn mail children of Egypt for the sins of their parents
7- Not condemn homosexuals for how god made them
8- not allow conversion by the sword
9- Not to discriminate against the sick whose pain may cause them to take their own life to limit the duration of pain
10- not to insist that ones one relationship with god ( religion ) is the only possible relationship
