legitimately the best rivals 2 guide i've seen because it goes over advanced stuff and tells you what to throw out in neutral. i hope you plan to make guides for the other characters too
"Wavedashing, ledgedashing and wavelanding are all integral to learning any character" -> shows Loxodont literally just doing 3 short-hop nairs :D (accurate tbf)
Duelists of Eden has Maypul as a crossover character, but since the game came out before rivals 2, there was no basis for "What happens if you trigger wrap while the opponent is shielding", as rivals 1 didnt have that interaction. Hence, attacking a blocking seeded opponent with a strong attack triggers the wrap, making your attacks UNBLOCKABLE and of course the seed also applies the mark on shield because that's how every status in the game work
Playing this game for the first time with my friends, I was so confused & frustrated. Like, I'm having so much trouble recovering, and sometimes I fly towards them, and I don't know why...!! I was skimming through this video quickly trying to find out how to do the tether, lol. "Why isn't he saying how to do it!?" And then when I told my friends, one of them just points at my icon and the button prompt. Oh... I was tunnel visioning on the fights. Oops. Putting aside my silly mistake, this video is super helpful! Thanks!! Some of the tips helped me win some games.
I do want to start my journey (Not Maypul but Clairen) but havent had experience of the general concepts you were talking about at the begining, like the wavedash and stuff. Do you happen to have a video explaining those or could point me to a video that could? Havent touched the game but I am waiting for its release!
Having a lot of fun with Maypul and this guide was very helpful! But I'm having a significant problem where a lot of the time, when I tether to someone, I hold left or right when I input A+B but it just defaults to the top of the opponent anyway. Is there something I'm missing? I'm on a Gamecube controller, and it doesn't seem to have any input issues. Thanks for the guide!
I'm basically on the ground of the rivals 2 skill ladder but maypul just feels right, even though she's harder to play than most of the cast and i'd be better off learning the game on someone easier i'm adoring her kit too much
nair up air side b are my go to ones depending on percent just remember to tether to the correct side of them to get the follow up. i had problems getting my tether to get to the correct side of them
@@chocomilkfps1264 if thats the case then skill floor and skill ceiling have no way to match. Because the skill ceiling means that’s the highest effectiveness a character can achieve, and improving skill doesn’t yield more results. So the “ceiling” is an effectiveness cap but the “floor” is a different metric? A little weird bud.
I was gonna play Clairen in Rivals 2 but I quickly switched to wanting to play Maypul just before the game released because of the level 50 skin lmao This guide was super helpful cuz I've never played as Maypul before, even in Rivals 1, so learning the simple stuff from this is great
Anybody know how to throw out moves from tether? I always seem to have a slight delay on when a move wants to come out when I use it instead of it being almost instantaneous
The title is very misleading, you only explained "advanced" strategies. You didn't explain the normal and special moves or most of the interaction possible with all her plant thing. I had no idea how maypul worked and I still have no idea 😅
@@PureSangheili Ok thanks for sharing but that's not really relevant to my remark, and I'm not criticizing the guide or the information delivered. But you can't call a video "EVERYTHING you need" when you are not even covering what moves should be used when or what are their properties and immediately start with intermediate and advanced tactics and combos. I mean you can, but it's called click bait. Smash has a plethora of very well regarded guides for each character if you want examples of a well built "exhaustive" guide.
This video is great but your audio really needs some work, there's a bit too much of a pop especially on some P sounds, which can be understandably a problem.
excuse me mr elpe content man this video is way too coherent i need my rivals 2 videos to be nonsense where it's impossible to tell if the creator is serious
is there any way to rebind maypuls tether specifically? i use a kinda weird control layout that makes it pretty much impossibly to use how they bound tether in rivals 2 without crab-clawing it (attack on X, jump on A, special on B)
Im looking for a char thats similar to little mac from smash but it doesnt seem like maypul is :( still will give her a try though. Are any of the characters more ground game orientated?
Maybe try Zetterburn? Smash attacks are insanely strong and can be comboed into, and he has really good and powerful tilts. Most Zetters I see prefer playing grounded as well, unless they try to kill with a tipper Uair or Fair. Dair is also a good move to use in general, but that's just a bonus.
thank god this isn't a falco waveshine guide 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Instructions unclear bought 12 bottles of maple syrup.
Inspiring, literally changed my life. 5 stars 10/10 thank you elpe
Thanks a bunch for this guide! One thing that's worth mentioning is that Maypul's Getup Special also applies mark to opponents.
Real short and full of good info! Love it
can't believe the silver 3 falco is trying to teach us how to play maypul...
Thanks this was just what I needed
I'm gonna wait til they add a Thorfinn skin with his daggers to play Maypul, but when that day comes I'll come back to this.

She's such a fun character. I'd love to see a more in depth maypul guide
I'd love to see a recovery guide too!

Can we get a ranno guide? Whatever the poison frogs name is?
I can now say i am a professional Maypul player, right?
You are a certified professional maypul player!

how do I dash tilt attack without dashattacking?
If you hold down after run or dash you can do down tilt instead of dash attack.

Everything you need to play Maypul: a controller.
it's "low skill floor", if what you mean is that as your skill decreases, you can perform worse than other characters at a low level.
high skill floor means it's a harder character to pick up and be decent with
@ nope.
