Marty took the main guitar/bass line of this song and turned it into a great instrumental track for the Mombassa levels of Halo 2. I believe the track is called Mombassa Suite, but I apologize if I’m misremembering
They absolutely wrote this for Halo. Ben Burnley, the lead singer, is a massive Halo fan and use to play all the time. I played in a lobby with him several times and he’s actually very good too. Or was back then at least. I met them backstage at a concert once as well and we talked about Halo too. He is an absolutely genuine and nice person.
Sup Geebz! This song was in fact written for the game, Breaking Benjamin was asked to create the song for the game by Marty. This song specifically shows up in the 2nd to last level of Halo 2. Breaking Benjamin wasn't the only guest on Halo 2. As another comment pointed out, the band Incubus would also appear in Halo 2 in the 4 Movements of the Odessey (although only the 1st Movement would actually be used in game). And most famously, Steve Vai would appear in the Mjolnir Mix of the Halo theme.
Going through the halls of the enemy's holy city during their civil war, you eventually reach a circular room with Brutes going berserk against Elites and Hunters. Your A.I. companion Cortana advising you to "sit this one out." Then this track hits. I remember just hiding in a corner watching everything kill eachother and jamming to this track.
This song was on repeat for me when Halo 2 came out. I have listened to this so many times. Amazing how a single song can teleport you back nearly 20 years like it was yesterday. Also, check out this song featuring Valora. I'd argue it's even better than this one.
Youve GOT to listen to the 4 movements off the odyssey from Incubus of this cd. Incubus was very musically underrated, they are masters of their craft.😊
when "Fire your guns! it's time to run!" hits, that's when I cannot hold back and jump into the pit in Legendary difficulty and start getting into the 3 way fight between Me, Brutes, and Elites.
damn this sound track slapped so hard. so nostalgic. the opening of this song puts me right back into the game. Ill mimic what others are saying. the 4 movements of the odyssey by Incubus are really good.
Ben Burnley loves Halo, this song was indeed made specifically for Halo 2, and I'm pretty sure he offered to do it for free cause he loved Halo so much, he just wanted to be a part of the project
This was my first time hearing this band when this game came out. They quickly became my favorite band of all time. Such a great inclusion in a video game and the moment itself in game with Cortanas dialog just made this whole moment so memorable to me.
Really like your break downs of game music. Halo has always been top tier for me. One game i really would love to see your opinion on is Path of Exile. I don't know if I'm allowed to make suggestions but if i can, something like "Path of Exile (Original Game Soundtrack) - Orion (Conquerors of the Atlas)" would be amazing.
Very iconic song! I remember hearing this a lot when Halo 2 was being played competitively during the MLG Pro Gaming series. ❤ PS: I'd like to see you and Marty collab in some way again. 😉
I'm sure this has been asked before, but what headphones is he using? I have seen many other composers or musicians with them and as an audiophile would love to know!
Good video, but the microphone sounds odd, did you use the right one here? Sounds quite different than normal. Otherwise, I love your passion for music!

You are 100% right
Wait your right😂
Never even noticed that. It's the moment when the 2 hunters break down the gates.

The joy I had when I found out my favorite band was on my favorite game when I was 11 years old.
Must have made a lot of great memories back then. Me and buddy loved playing Halo 2, what a game.
@@girthquake2390 absolutely did. the best memories of glitching out of the multiplayer maps in search of a golden warthog

Omg the amount of hype when this played during the game is hard to describe

Yes! Please!
hell yeah
incubus did not need to go that hard on a four part prog rock piece that barely features in the game
Yes! The first movement is my favorite halo song of all time.

As a metalhead for almost a decade now, I haven’t heard a bad song from this group ever. In other words, This band blows me away.

Such a banger track from 04 and at a time that I hadn't yet discovered Halo. Great time to game and what game jam Awwwwright!
To everyone, like me, who enjoyed this song playing in the mausoleum back in the day, sorry about your lower back pain...
Ben Burnley loves Halo, this song was indeed made specifically for Halo 2, and I'm pretty sure he offered to do it for free cause he loved Halo so much, he just wanted to be a part of the project
Man I remember listening to this song during that level in the game. I have it on my phone for when I run to this day.
Love your stuff and the hair my dude! Love this song so much!!!

Still here, Geebz! Merry Christmas to you. Thanks for all the music presented this year - have enjoyed it.
Man, this hit me hard even in Brazil hahah
Halo OST is awesome
There's four versions of this song. They later changed the words to don't make me beg.
I'm still here chief! Hope you've a wonderful Christmas and holidays yourself!
End of the Gravemind Is where you hear this in game without vocals and its a cool fight

I’m still here :) love your breakdowns
you should do Steve Vai edition, with the Halo 2 Mjolnir mix, genesong
Last video of the year! Enjoy your holidays and new years celebration!
What a great song to close out the year 🙌
Such an awesome song.

You NEED to react to Minecraft Volume BETA. Definitely!
React to Hitman blood money and contracts soundtrack by Jesper Kyd
I'm sure this has been asked before, but what headphones is he using? I have seen many other composers or musicians with them and as an audiophile would love to know!
sir, your hair is simply glorious
Good video, but the microphone sounds odd, did you use the right one here? Sounds quite different than normal. Otherwise, I love your passion for music!
It does rather sound like he's in a fish bowl.
do more halo
FINALLY!
This song was synonymous with early youtube top 10 videos with horrible transitions 😂
Overwatch music?
Is it too old to start playing guitar or singing at 37?
Nope
never
nothing like halo ost
It fits in pretty well with Halo 2’s OST :/
@@spino2029 i mean like "theres nothing like good old halo ost" calm down shockwave
Halo, in particular, is full of wonderful music, all of the Bungie games I can't recommend enough to listen to. But the 343 games are meh at best.
this is not a halo song lol
You wish
You're right, it's a halo 2 song.
That's where you're wrong kiddo, it is.
Oh yes it is
Someone never played halo 2
