The greatest song ever written and recorded imho. React to the entire Quadrophenia LP. It takes the listener on an emotional journey. LONG LIVE THE WHO.
So, “Love Reign O’er Me” is the final song of the rock opera Quadrophenia. Listening to it by itself takes it out of context of the story. The double album is worth listening to in one sitting. Their other rock opera is “Tommy”, often considered Pete’s masterpiece. The Who was the soundtrack of my teenage years and beyond. No group rocked harder. They were also one of the greatest bands to see live. Their laser shows were cutting edge at the time. Enjoy diving down this incredible rabbit hole.
Imagine being Pete's age when he wrote Tommy, which for most people would mean the best of their life's work was behind them. And then he wrote Lifehouse. And THEN he wrote QUADROPHENIA!
Such a Great band, never got to see them live because the yr I was suppose to go was the night of the The Who massacre...The band never came back to Cincinnati, but they are supposed to. So if the come Im wheeling my wheelchair in with huge smile on my face been waiting since the 70s for that moment. R.I.P. to all those lost that night...Thanks, Blessings
I’m 54. My top 3? Rush The Who Led Zeppelin. This song exemplifies the pure genius of Pete Townson, the sear power of Keith Moon, the precision of John Entwistle and the soul of Roger Daltrey.
Loved your reaction, man. From the same album, you will probably love "The Real Me", "Punk And The Godfather", "5:15" and "Sea And Sand". "Behind Blue Eyes", "Bargain" and "Song Is Over" from WHO'S NEXT are awesome too. And we haven't even mentioned their brilliant '60's material.
Quadrophenia was made into an interesting film about rival gangs in London , and the painful world of teenagers on a fast track to dead end jobs in the adult world .
As you said The Who were one of the most influential rock bands. They also popularized destroying instruments after a performance. Would be amazing to see you react to My Generation Smothers Brother 1967. Pete Townshend got big into creating "Rock Operas." Without him there wouldn't be Another Brick in the Wall or a Bohemian Rhapsody.
Might consider that "reign" in this spelling does not mean precipitation, rather ...to rule over. The Queen of England reigns over her subjects, as an example. Love....reign over me, i.e. let love rule life.
Thought that was obvious actually. I’ve never had to explain this song to anyone, including my kids, now ‘educating’ their kids, schooled on real music. Heard my 19yr old grandson playing 70’s rock on his playlist,he said it’s not just him,all his friends are into 70’s music too,of every genre. Totally unique era,the 60’s and 70’s.
I started a FB group : Reacting to Reactors. Post your favorite reactions, comments, polls, videos and explore the overall fantastic-ness of watching music reactions!!.
God bless The Who! You should try "Bargain " and and "Naked Eye." They are a couple of the greatest Who songs of all time IMHO. Thanks for the reactions.
Not to take anything away from the band, they are all tremendous musicians/vocalists, but Pete Townsend is without parallel a songwriter extraordinaire!
Man luv yr rants! Xxx Frm tha' film Quadrophenia, which I thnk u would enjoy watching, It's about teenage anx' letting-off-steam, London @ Brighton UK " early 70's Mods vs Rockers" @ must! Much love Xxx
How can you not love , when you ARE love ? * Keith Moon is/was one of the top four drummers of all time ROCK HISTORY. Neal Peart, Bill Ward , and of course, JOHN BONHAM are the other three. Many say Ringo bur not compared to these four MADMEN.😄
With the who it's best to just let interpretation be personal and enjoy for what you get out of it yourself. Ppl will tell you all day what it's about, this band always feels like it wants you to take what you want to from it. My personal thought is this band is about the individuals in the band who just happen to sound 50 years ahead of their time and occasionally blow your nuts off with stuff that still sounds new today. Best drummer, best bassist, top 10 vocals and guitar and lyrically it's up to you. Good reaction 👍
If you're a fan singers hitting high notes, you might want to check out Ted Neeley sing "Gethsemane" from the Jesus Christ Superstar movie...amazing voice :) Peace!
RD demonstrates why he is considered one of the best rock vocalists PT demonstrates how you don't need an orchestra when you can master the bag of wires and pegboard that was an ARP synthesizer The rest of the boys KM and RE in the bad just demonstrate they are geniuses too
One of my favourite songs from the movie Quadrophina when Jimmy is just sitting on the Beach then sending his scooter over the cliff….Did he die? Or was it just for him the death of the Mods? A question many have asked, But this song is beautiful in its heart wrenching longing for love and emotion we all crave when we don’t have it.
You do know that Jimmy Page played session guitar on a lot of the who's albums, and here's another fact when Jimmy Page was trying to come up with a name for his new band he was talking with Keith moon and said he was going to call the band the new Yardbirds, Keith moon said you guys will take off like a lead balloon and that's how LED Zeppelin came to be
I'm going to give you a different interpretation of this song because I can tell you are one, maybe the only one as far as I know, reactor who KNOWS THE WORD, so I won't have to cite any chapter and verse to you. I believe this is a very spiritual song that uses a lot of double entendre which means, of course, “a twofold meaning”. The first very important one comes right at the beginning. LOVE (what is God? God is LOVE) REIGN (the lyric isn't "rain") meaning I'm asking you to have power and dominion O'ER me which is the old English form of over. Also the word rain along with rain sounds is used throughout. As you know, rain is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. Then there is a "coupling". "Only LOVE can bring the RAIN. Or, only God can bring the Holy Spirit. What did Jesus (God among us) tell his disciples before His crucifixcion? "I will not leave you here alone, I will send you a comforter." The comforter is the Holy Spirit that indwells all true Christians! Well, that's my alternate interpretation. What say you? And God bless you!
Kenny Jones was after Keith moon died Keith moon was with the who from 1964 till September 1978 when he died Kenny Jones was with the who from November 1978 till 1985 when he left the who
Yes, it's Roger. Eddie Vedder ( Pearl Jam) released a cover of this song just for RUclips with Roger's approval. Apparently hes a huge Who fan & asked Roger if he may sing it at a birthday party for Roger. I've loved this song since I was a young kid ! I love Eddie but was skeptical, I mean should a song this perfect be covered ever? By anyone? Well I should have learned by now that Eddie wont do anything he can't do 100%. You should check it out, it's truly impressive. I struggled to believe it wasn't Daltry for most of it! Great pick!
Again Greatest Rock Band Ever
The greatest song ever written and recorded imho. React to the entire Quadrophenia LP. It takes the listener on an emotional journey. LONG LIVE THE WHO.
This f moron knows nothing about music, he's too busy trying to be funny.

I can't wait. I am so excited for you. Thanks for listening to requests.
That's alright you go ahead and let the tears out.

with drumming like that, you know it's keith moon, play anything from the who's next album. beginning to end classics, by far their best album.
Uk 🇬🇧 national treasure
One of the greatest rock songs ever written.
Live at the Isle Of Wight festival (1970) = rawest , most visceral version of The Who .
Love your interpretation..... and thanks for the scripture verse! ❤🔥🙌✝
Roger Daltreys best vocal imo. Phenomenal.
You only pull that face when the music is the best

Behind blue eyes. Heck yeah. Great choice.
John Entwistle's performance on "The Real Me" is to bass-playing what Roger Daltrey's performance on "Love Reign O'er Me" is to rock vocals.
@@calguy3838 agree 100%. John Entwistle is - to me anyway - to rock bass playing what Hendrix is to rock guitar playing. Unmatched.
Quadrophenia was made into an interesting film about rival gangs in London , and the painful world of teenagers on a fast track to dead end jobs in the adult world .
Mods and Rockers, not only in London. They would meet at seaside resorts to fight.
Greatest rock band that ever hit a stage watch their live performance of "Young Man Blues" Isle of Wight Festival 1970.
"Behind Blue Eyes " is worth checking out.
Check out Limp Bizkits cover of Behind Blue Eyes also
Roger sings the way he does in this song to express that love in unconditional
Quadrophenia tells a story you should listen to the entire album.
Over and over
As you said The Who were one of the most influential rock bands. They also popularized destroying instruments after a performance. Would be amazing to see you react to My Generation Smothers Brother 1967.
Pete Townshend got big into creating "Rock Operas." Without him there wouldn't be Another Brick in the Wall or a Bohemian Rhapsody.
Please react to The Who- who are you. It was the theme song for the show CSI.
If this blows you away all by itself, you should hear it as the grand finale of the entire album. Probably rock nirvana if there ever was one.
I really love your reactions ❤️ ♥️ 😊
God bless you.
This is perfect, is'nt it? Thanks for doing The Who. Love to you and all rockers from the Netherlands

My favorite Who song!❤️🔥🔥
Quadrophenia is my all time favourite album and I met Phil Daniels and Ray Winstone from the film
Quadrophenia set the bar impossibly high. Your reactions are great fun.
You really need to listen to the whole Quadrophenia album to understand the whole meaning
Pete Townshend is a genius
love you reaction great song.
I’m liking your vibe 🎶🔥🎶
Great use of early synth strings

What a tune
They were so far ahead of their time! To me they are still beating most of the compositions of today!
God bless The Who! You should try "Bargain " and and "Naked Eye." They are a couple of the greatest Who songs of all time IMHO. Thanks for the reactions.
You should listen to the remix it’s actually fire and you’re gonna loveee it my guyyyyy
Not to take anything away from the band, they are all tremendous musicians/vocalists, but Pete Townsend is without parallel a songwriter extraordinaire!
You NEED to see them play My Generation live in '67 when they trash their instruments!

Why do you act like that?
Yes, it's Roger.
