My six year old has been getting her allowance in dimes for years to try to get a set. I seeded what I gave her with some silver dimes without telling her. Her sheer joy was so exciting I started collecting coins. A great set! My other daughter did nickels and now has moved to Sacajawea coins.
Great Video, I am from the UK and I own a full tube of 1963 Roosevelt Dimes that are all fully brilliant, the condition is stunning. I have always been a sucker for uncirculated coins. I think the series would be excellent to collect. Also of note is that President Roosevelt was a president that faced immense political challenges and I have a lot of respect for him. I have put mine with my silver stack but having a set in an album would be incredible.
@@MissouriMetal I bought them all in small batches of around 10 or so, there are 75 in my tube (a general tube). I have not seen them for a while but they are likely all the same, they are all in the vault. Nevertheless it would be fun indeed to make a collection of these coins and I cannot see the buyer going wrong.
The set of 1946-1964 is still widely available. If you don't mind going through a dealer's circulated silver Roosevelt dimes you can find most, if not all, coins to complete a basic set in EF-AU for close to the price of silver.
Ben, A few years ago you did a video on collecting FB/FT rosies and it got me hooked. Took me a little bit of time but I finally completed the entire silver run of slabbed FT rosies. I didn't do any varieties but I did add in the proofs just for fun. You know, sometimes you're a bad influence on us....
@@TheCoinGeek Please don't plant that seed. I have enough on my plate trying to do SLQ's, half cents, Bust halves, Bust half dimes and a few stragglers to finish off the franklin halves and Indian varieties. This isn't a hobby, it's a mission to see how much money I can spend. I think I may be unwilfully doing mercs now too being I have bought a few recently for no apparent reason......sigh....
Nice.I mistakenly spent a 2015P rev. Pr on smokes for my old lady.My bro got it in change somewhere.I'm ashamed bc I knew I was spending it but didn't know it was silver at the time.I missed out on a 96W too when cashier ing.Dang it!
Bravo! Just finished my gem silver Roosie set. The 51-S was a toughie but got a slabbed MS66 cheap in an auction and now I have the label pasted inside the album as a reference for my heirs. Nice dimes are plentiful but gem Jeffersons are proving to be a bit more difficult.
My Rosy album just missing a couple of 80s S and a couple in the 90s. Great pleasure on my second Rosy album. I recently completed a full Ike set. Loving it
Common coins can be fun and challenging. I started a Dansco book of Washington quarters and enjoyed it much more than I thought I would, especially trying to upgrade the first page from 1932 - 1940 with AU or Unc examples. Of course, the '32 D & S are not quite that nice but more like XF. They're going in a book, after all. I ended up getting proofs from 1950 onward for the Philadelphia spots just to add some bling. When you held up the Roosevelts and they all had a consistent "look", that's what you're looking for in modern silver coinage.
I’ve been collecting for over 45 years and I started with Roosevelts!,.. I still continue to upgrade my original set, it’s never too late to start coin collecting, and the Roosevelts are definitely one of the best to start with, there’s a lot of gems out there and there a ton of fun!
I remember building my first set. I used a yellow highlighter in my red book, and highlighted all the one's I got through rolls. Every satisfying when it was finished!!!
I'm missing 13 coins in my BU Roosevelt dime set. I do have an original roll of 1946D's of which 3 are PL64-65 Cameo FT. The rest are MS62 to MS65 and are all FT. All the coins were acquired through my volunteering at a coin shop. I also put together a full set of BU Franklins, which was enhanced by a slabbed 1955 MS65 FBL gifted by Donald in New Mexico. My '55 was only MS62. The proofs start at 1956 in sets and individually, including a roll of 1961.
I have the full set in a similar folder. Most BU full luster and toning from dark deep colors through the rainbow looking like old rainbow toned morgan dollars. Paid $1.50 for each one last year. While I didn't get the fun of hunting and filling the set, I couldn't pass up the deal especially how they looked. Haven't taken the time to cherry pick though. Almost finished cherry picking about 20,000 old wheats I purchased from a family who's grandma was collecting in the 50s and 60s. Bu rolls in some dates and mints even some full rolls with rpms. Paid 2 cents each. No I didnt rob them. The collection was a big mess and I didn't know half of what was in it. They said they wanted 2 cents each and I said okay
Really love content like this. Personally I’d consider myself a medium to medium advance collector and despite that one of my current goals is to do a Jefferson nickels Dansco book Sometimes it’s just fun to do low cost stuff
I went with circulated silver Roosevelt dimes. I prefer knowing they were used by the American people at the time they were made, I think there's a lot of history in that. For a circulated set, you can get them for $2-$3 each. Much cheaper that way too
I used to collect roosevelt dimes but when it come to selling them its a hard sell not alot of ppl like them or prefer the merc dimes . Just coming from my experience I had a hard time re-selling them .
It's a boring coin but that's not a bad area to collect. It's nice that you can still find a silver one circulating here and there too. For myself I just own one regular and proof strike, one late 40's and one mid 50s, that I consider part of my collection. I do really like the two I have but I don't need more than that.
I'm not a big supporter of much of what FDR accomplished domestically, but I have a few complete collections. My Dansco album has all the proofs excepting the silver proofs. I also have the 1996-W dime included in the album. Except for the early years, most of the non-proof coins are from US Mint uncirculated sets.
Don't forget the 2015 W Dime. I got that one quite by accident. The store I go to has a box where you put $5 in and pick a coin out of the box. Not bad. I think its a $20 dime. Might be the most expensive one of the bunch.

After Harris' innouguration

Hey guys 👋
I have a complete set from 1946 to 2001, brilliant uncirculated. Kind of lost interest in it since then.
Also I forgot all the proofs
