Not sure if youve seen the ending of green mountain, but its ending takes a long time to happen. Essentially, your Sonic replaces the one you defeat at the top of the mountain. Your Sonic begins to melt, his limbs falling off his body as the area begins to darken and fade away. The GAME OVER text appears as your Sonic begins to resemble the eyeless blue figure you killed prior. Its supposed to simulate some kind of endless loop.
However in the data of the game a story about two people planning to climb the green mountain trail to bury something and I guess when they went to the top and guessed greeted by the faceless Sonic crawling toward them ready to fight. Whatever happens with the two people afterwards is unknown.
Xenophanes, or Sonic.EXE, is kind of your demonic EXE entity aiming to reboot or reimagine the original Sonic.EXE. He is known for his anger and willingness to do anything to achieve his goals. He appears in the Friday Night Funkin' mod, VS. Sonic.EXE, created by RightBurstUltra. Xenophanes has three stages: his first, with darker fur, black sclerae, red pupils, and a hint of a pinkish X-shaped scar; his second, taller with messier fur and a more serious expression; and his final form, where he's even larger, with more crystallized fur and a more pronounced scar. He has the power to shapeshift, fly, teleport, rewrite code, manipulate fire, and alter reality. His laugh is an edit of Kefka Palazzo's from Final Fantasy VI. Soul Tails is a victim of Xenophanes, appearing in Triple Trouble with a reference to Chemical Plant Zone. He is shy and fears Sonic.EXE. His jumpscare is unique as it doesn't occur immediately. Soul Knuckles is hostile and his section in Triple Trouble references Unknown from M.E. from Sonic Adventure. Despite being smarter than the others, he still succumbs to Xenophanes' will. the Subterfuge game is pretty subtergood, and subtercool, if i subtersay so myself. Green Mountain is honestly very underrated, and like most people already said, the game over takes a LONG time, and the Sonic you play as essentially changes and then looks like the End character, implying or simulating a loop. and the 3rd game is also pretty cool, just X being X, nothing wrong with that. also the souls directly communicating to Tom, and other players, similar to SONICPC i think should be utilized a bit more, its an underrated idea me thinks.

With 2016 X, you should be able to charge a spindash in peace, because if you were to actually do that in the official Classic Sonic games as of recently (Mania and Superstars), you can only be damaged by projectiles (such as the Buzzbombers or Crabmeats shots).

The first game is no longer based on a original story, but on animation called "SUBTERFUGE" from RUclipsr/Animator CODA. Oh, and the gameplay is taken from the 3D version of "SUBTERFUGE" from the game GARN47 (which can be accessed via the FNF Hit Single after defeating Silly Billy) Second one tells us the story that two friends decided to bury someone on the green mountain (there is a version that it was the hedgehog of the sister) and it seems like there is a fight between friends on the mountain in which one of them dies. Sonic represents grief and sadness when bodies are buried. And in the end (yes, it takes a long time to wait there) we turn into End (this is name of this creature). After all, this is an Endless Cycle. Sorry I don't know the lore for third one, I see this game first time. 🥲
