  • The KING of Rock and Roll would have turned 80 today, and in his honor, I'd like to share with you a rare audio recording of the first ever recorded interview ELVIS PRESLEY did with me and Dewey Phillips on my "Top Ten Dance Party" show in Memphis, circa 1956. If you've got an Elvis fan in your life, please SHARE this with them!
And stay tuned through the end for a bonus interview. Elvis was kind enough to help me kick off my "Dance Party" show on KHJ-TV in Los Angeles. I interviewed him live via phone while he was stationed with the Army in Germany. Happy birthday, Elvis, and long live THE KING!

Interesting how he likes " i was the one " more than heatbreak hotel .
It shows a little of the tenderness in his heart .

What an understatement that people said Presley and his music would disappear after some time and here we are 63 years later and the King still rules . I wish those people who said that were still around to see the phenomenon the King is .

The young ones are discovering his music. They need to understand if he didn't come along and opened doors for undiscovered talents to come later and opened the Americans and worldwide eyes that there is black music to love and enjoy, and most importantly you can do it coming from nothing. There were people order than him then, but it was coming of age and the Revolution of music heading away from mainstream. A lot of people hate him, disrespectful to him and his music, but hey each to their own. He done nothing to none of you haters. He is humble and a well brought up young man, unlike some ignorant and Entitled brats of today. He will live on as people discovered who he was to the music world and the difference he made. Regardless how he died, that was his business. He left his music and wonderful memories behind. A true legend in music. Much RESPECT for this Gentleman. Thank you Elvis. R.I.P.☮️

    ELVIS sounded so wonderful ♥️🥰
His future plans for his career, he was
saying he had a lot of things he still
    wanted to accomplish. There wasn't
much time from 1960 to 1963, time
for him seemed to speed up, many
    interruptions, and distractions came,
    specifically, his future personal life,
    1963.

This is wonderful. Good sound to be from the 50's. Elvis is so sincere and humble and I think it is great that Elvis is doing fundraising no longer than he has been in the entertainment industry. I just love Elvis and I am thankful that he kept giveing until he passed away in 1977. I heard Charlie Hodge say that Elvis funded 50 businesses in Memphis alone. Most of them were for Saint Jude's, children hospitals, places that fed the homeless and hungry and places that helped the elderly, sick and those who have served in the forces so he had a heart of gold and cared about everyone that needed help. R.i.p. Elvis. There will never be anyone else like you.

This was a treat. As old as i am i was too young to have listened in 1956. But my brother was much older and he left his 45s behind for me to play while he attended college. I played them to death. He had several Elvis 45s

Wonder who won that ring and if they still got it or even still alive by now, anyway it sure would be worth a whole lot of money where ever it is, I've never heard anybody say anything about it, but it would be cool if anyone knows anything about it would tell everyone.

Its good to hear the king talk. He was such a shy young man who loved his mother. He changed the world of music. He made the way for people like jerry Lee lewis , buddy holly, Carl Perkins, Roy orbsion , johnny cash and Ricky nelson plus the Beatles as well. A lot of young people of today forget what Elvis did for music. 👑👑👑

Mentioned touring Europe back then , let down by the phoney Colonel Sanders. Mentioned doing more acting and improving his skills in acting, let down by Colonel Sanders. You could hear in his voice that he wasn’t enjoying his draft in the army, that’s what I’m hearing.
