Allow me to correct some points you discussed here. It looks overexposed because you didn't set the Raw to Log conversion correctly. So you're displaying what could be classified as HDR image (which is the linear image from the snesor) and displaying it on an SDR monitor. Dynamic Range in internal and RAW is identical, Dr is controlled by V-Log not by RAW or compressed.
What is so difficult to use a native L-Mount lens on a L-Mount camera? B&H don't stock any or why did you use the MC-21 adapter with that vintage Sigma 24-70mm EF lens?
One of the many lies invented to molify millennials is this. Free Lunch RAW. Real RAW is pure sensor Data. The RAW standard allows for each camera company to attach proprietary tags to identify the specific RAW for purposes of branding and processing in post. All the recent adulterations of RAW, still allow headroom for editing in post, but then also apply dreaded compression and of course, compression artifacts therfore.
@@chrisklugh It's actually more "RAW" than Braw e.g. There's no further processing applied while BMD cameras apply heavy noise reduction and edge enhancement. If Premiere would use the camera manufacturers native colorspace, setting WB/Tint would be easy. Right now it's garbage.
Great video. I still have the original firmware in my S1H. I do not see version 2.0 available anymore for download on their site. Can I jump to version 2.5? Will it contain the RAW recording option?
It is recommended to update your camera with the most recent firmware version available for your camera. The most recent firmware version for the Panasonic Lumix DC-S1H Mirrorless Digital Camera would be Firmware Version 2.5, which was released on July 13, 2021. The Firmware Version 2.5 would include all updates from previous firmware versions. The link to the firmware update is listed below. . av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/dsc/download/ff/dl/s1h.html .
I thought that I read the S1H doesen't crop in 4k 60p when recording raw externally? So that is not true? Actually I want to know this for the Panasonic S5 but since they have the same sensor I figured it should be the same. Thanks.
Panasonic Lumix DC-S5: It can capture video at up to 4K/30p in full-frame mode, or up to UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) /60p when using APS-C/Super35 mode or a 1:1 native pixel region of the sensor (a 1.56x crop), all in 4:2:2 10-bit color. bhpho.to/3rCNRmD >Mark
More than likely this is not an issue with the HDMI output. When recording within the camera the files are more compressed than those outputted. The compression can actually hide flaws, such as not being proper exposed or being at too high of an ISO. You are going to have to be even more careful with exposure from a RAW output. Per Panasonic: Just the Ninja V: Panasonic has announced that the company will release the firmware update program for the LUMIX S1H Full-Frame mirrorless camera to enhance its performance and usability, as proclaimed last September.
