Am I the only one that really like Cherry Whine
+C L O C K W O R K I N D I G O I S M it was my fav song on the album
It really grew on me
I adore that song..i'm such an Amy fan and they both were born the same day. They are truly have a lot in common musically. Both lyricists and have an appreciation for jazz.
I LOVE cherry wine
I'm with you
Breezy look like Pac and Big Sean fused lol
Jamil Jones He was formed by the fusion of both of their sperms
+Jamil Jones broooo lmfaoo that's it! I knew he looked like pac mixed with someone
+Jamil Jones naw dmx and katt williams
I think he looks like Andre 3000 fused with Rakim...but mostly Andre 3000.
The thing that kind of ticks me off is the fact that Nas is the only Hip-Hop great with a "questionable" legacy. Why can't people let Illmatic go? This is like comparing every super bowl team to the '72 Dolphins and claiming that they 'suck'. It's almost like people are punishing him for making a great rap debut.
Hip hop and sports aren't comparable like that
Exactly, also his catalogue is ultimately better then all rappers when you really go through unreleased material, The Lost Tapes, God's Stillmatic, It Was Written, Distant Relatives, Street Disciple you can easily make another 6 Illmatics with those projects/songs.
@@masonrichards6949 yes they fucking are
Even as a Jay z Stan I feel like people are too quick to dismiss Nas’s discography and beat selection.
It’s all agenda , we know Nas the greatest. All evidence is there.
Yall need to listen to the track "You wouldn't understand" again
One of the better songs on there imo...great storytelling and the hook was dope.
One off the best album off the Yeah
jam
B had me dying with the Krispy chicken running gag
Myke should revisit this album.. When it came out I wasn't big on it either.. Listening to it now after kings disease dropped, it clicked for me.. Great album!
Same here
Same with me. This is a top 4 Nas album in my opinion.
World's An Addiction and Cherry Wine were my favorite tracks
Untitled is NO WAY better than this, i only like 3 to 4 tracks on Untitled,... Life Is Good in this day out way ANY Hip-Hop album of 2012,. in terms of Lyricism, Production, content and all that,.... because i don't like 3 tracks out of a whole bunch dnt make it ehhh,.. i dnt knw why these guys are trying to bite the credit they are given Nas on this, this is a GREAT album period, and coulda win Grammy, get off Illmatic and judge a project as it should, i score this album 95% out of 100.
"Stay" is a dope song.
Thelonious One
Best song on the album
@@davidwilliams8822 arguably it is. Especially that second verse
IMO this is the album that Jay-Z shouldve made.
duckamnpig that's the truth, Nas always says he has to feel a type of way to make an album and nas had some things going on his life so he made a album.
4:44 > lig
Lyle Ugleman hell no!
PROS= This is as closest your going to get to that early 2000's Nas...in fact it's Nas's best album since Stillmatic some will say. GREAT beats...Nas always lacked in the beat area BUT not this time. There's some catchy beats on here..."bye baby", "a queens story" and "Wheres the love"..."The Black Bond"...ALOT of these songs could had been songs for a movie soundtrack.
CONS= The best songs are on the bonus album ...why ?? and "summer on smash" was a terrible song.
That kid with the dreads seems like he *HATED* the album. There were 18 tracks on it and he got "thrown off" by 2-3 tracks? FOH.
This album was a 9/10 but listening to this review, you would think it was like a 6/10.
Just sad.
Yeah They Were Trippin' BIG TIME...
Yup
This is probably the most underrated Nas album ever. Dope from beginning to "Summer on Smash", then dope again. I don't know why he decided to put that song on there, worst Nas song ever.
"Who Killed It?" & "Makings of a Perfect Bitch" are even worse.
The Nastradamus beat is dope.
@@itsX2024 "Who Killed It" was just unacceptable
Also "Smokin"
That hook is horrible like wtf
Yeah I think this in Nas too 3-4 albums. The entire album sounds like one piece of music. I think it's his most cohesive album since Illmatic. The album sounds like a jazz album.
There were a few dope tracks which were omitted from this review.
No Introduction
A Queens Story
Accident Murderers (Nice Concept)
Back When
Bye Baby
I thought Cherry Wine was dope and both Reach Out and You Wouldn't understand are getting some undue hate IMO.
You wouldn't understand was magnificent dude! That of been a good night 🌃 video! Hey they don't understand! Good dudes at the end of the day though! We all have our own opinions!
mike zilla true! Those were some of the best on the album!
Back When is my fav off the album. I felt that Rick Ross ruined the concept on Accident Murderers though.
hearing beezy reciting Mary J. Blige made me crack up
So we all agree it’s a 9/10
Yessir 🔥🔥
Reach Out is so dope, it sounds like it was legit made in the 80's. Great hook too.
I love how these guys make you feel like you're in the room. Props fellas, new subscriber.
You a OG now lol
Life is good..Great Album, so personal. Really enjoyed it
Streets Disciple is a classic Feefo buggin (per usual)
Actually the sample is Miles Jaye's Let's Start Love Over. Just thought I'll throw that in there since Myke cut me off.
The Life is Good album was such a grown sound that many people who don't have an appreciation for jazz or 90's hiphop wouldn't be able to understand how great this album really is. Nas always been mature in his lyrics but this was a grown ass man going through some real shit from realizing his daughter isn't a baby anymore to divorcing from the love of his life and having to reflect on what it is he wants. A lot of reflection is what I took from this album and reminding people he is still in the game.
Eden Mugar to me this album is what he has left his music
Bro Your Review Was More Felt Than DEHH Review.... Much Props...
Every one rate a album lyrically what about soul and emotional songs shit thats deep
Except you need lyricism for soul and emotion to actually hit, your disproving your own point.
@@eminemfan50098 freaking got his soul
You guys expect too much from nas. When nas drops his new album, yall gonna say the same shit. Nothing is gonna top illmatic get over it
I liked streets disciple I think that album just gets a bad rep but I don't know why its gr8 all the way though with songs like disciple, American way, remember the times, Virgo, and that song with busta rymes how cud u hate on that really?
killabee4realg one word: Length
***** that's B.S man
killabee4realg I feel you but he does have a point. Nas has many albums that could've been better with 2 or 3 less songs...and for some people Street's Disciple compounds the problem. Overall, it's difficult for any artist in any genre to maintain anyone's interest for two discs. Think of it like an overly long novel or movie.
Julian Wyllie i don't feel the same its not like u have to listen to every last song each time now is it you can skip to next at any time
Julian Wyllie plus the only song nas ever made that I actually don't like is gangsta tears
Untitled > Life Is Good
I love the album, the 4 bonus tracks and the itunes track "trust" is my shit too.
Had the exact opposite reaction, didn't really feel untitled
Life is good and Kings Disease 3 are some of my two fav nas album Post-Stillmatic. I like the 90s rnb/hip hop sounds those 2 albums share.
Cherry Wine is one of the best songs on the album
10:18 😂😂😂😂😂😂
These guys missed the mark with this review big time. First off this album was dope as crap. "You wouldn't understand" is dope as F**K! The song has an old school feel and he takes you through the hood of jewels and whips. He's remembering old times in NY the things that he's done or seen. I see these guys are heavily influenced by each other. A lot of times these guys just agree with each other. Old school feel throughout the album with dope beats. Complete album, my hood calls this album a slept on classic.
If you didn't listen to the album, as a Nas fan, and watched this, you would have hesitated buying the album and listening to it. Seemed like they HATED it but just respected Nas name though.
Missed the mark by a mile! I came back just for the comments to see who agrees with these idiots... I didn't watch this show for a couple years after this review...
SIDub14 wow really your fucking ignorant dude
Don’t say shit you wouldn’t say to my face bro!
@@SIDub14 I Agree, They Really Overlooked The Old School Feel Of This Album. It's 2019 and This Album Aged Really Well.... Much Props...
I think this album is grammy worthy. This is definitely in my top 3 of nas albums. It seems like the only songs they had issues with were summer on smash (which I do as a well) reach out, and you wouldn't understand. Songs I wished they would have talked about more are no introduction, accident murderers, and back when. The itunes deluxe tracks are damn near just as good if not better than the ones on the actual album such as roses, where is the love, nasty, and trust.
I gotta say that I rarely disagree with Myke, but he's wrong on this one. This record is INCREDIBLE. A classic. The production was tight and suited every song, the lyrics were deep and passionate, Nas had some incredible flows, and it has a cohesion that some Nas albums didn't really have. This record Nas has not been able to top. Not even with King's Disease, which is solid. This one here is an incredible work of art with Nas at his absolute best. Summer on Smash is the only record that didn't grab me, but everything else was fire. Big up to Nas on this one. He really put his heart and soul into this.
Yeah I feel the same way too. Only Summer on Smash was the issue to me.
People hate on "You Wouldn't Understand" but I understand why. Anything that's kinda more musical in hiphop is frowned upon, but I think he struck a good balance between music and hiphop on that track. People just wouldn't understand.
Exactly how i felt. The instrumentality was wonderful. Nas had a sick flow. He always does but there was something different on this one. You could hear he was passionate on tracks like stay, back when, Roses, cherry wine, and one or two more. Lyrically it was fine. This was more simplistic but you don't need to wow with lyrics when you are dropping knowledge and truth
over hyped, over rated album. this is what happes when you have SO MUCH mediocry in hip hop. a decnt album comes out and people start throwin around ITS A CLASSIC ITS THE BEST THING SINCE THE WHEEL WAS INVENTED type shit. and this album is NOT a classic, never will be. for Nas, its a very medicore, forgetful album at best. Good Kid mAAd City is a more classic worthy album then this album.
crazylegz your right but this album was not about making a classic it was about his life situation
Right my ass... Y'all both sound stupid! This album is a classic!
What the hell was so bad about Summer on Smash... I liked that track! And Myke C go to hell!😂😂😂
Real talk Kinge no body has been comparing all Jay’s albums to Reasonable Doubt but when it comes to Nas everyone keeps talking about illmatic cos he is not riding the waves of melodic flow
I have got to say this: Beezy @ the 10:20 minute mark..DKM. You did the rendition to perfection. Overall, great review but i believe that this album will stand the test of time in terms of Nas bringing back an energy in the game that has been lackluster as of late. It is lyrically at a level of greatness that i respect but it also tells me that he is one of very FEW elder statesman of Hip Hop culture who has actually evolved his artistry unlike some of his counterparts. Peace.
is it just me or do k-binge and beezy say pretty much the same thing every damn album, I watch for feefo & myke
I like Myke's honesty, he always gives good reasons why he doesn't like certain projects most people praise and shit. Btw are you guys are gonna review Reks second album of the year, Rebelutionary?
I'd love to hear Beezy's opinion on Nas's stay vs J. Cole's version of Stay
Nas is GOAT but J Cole's version was way better than his. Can't wait for their next projects. Both will feature on the other's projects.
Big krit has the best version, it's called king pt 3
Escobar600GOAT_NODEBATING. Nas is overrated and ur on every video from 3 years ago about this album with cancerous ass comments lmao, hopefully you've grown up a lil since then
if this didn't have summer on smash this would be a classic in my eyes
overall i think this was a good album. i think the production has been what hurt nas on some albums. wasnt feeling the mary j track or the swizz track. i think ppl need 2 stop comparing albums 2 illmatic. illmatic was a classic was wont be duplicated
I liked You wouldn't understand, it wasn't that bad.
Worlds an addiction. Reminds me of one mic, what goes around Nas at his best!
I agree with you guys, untitled and god's son are my favorites besides illmattic. And we all probably unfairly compare the rest of his albums with with Illmattic. I know I do.
I think Lupe Fiasco and Nas have simalar careers. 2 of the all time best emcees with really great albums and some projects that I wish didn't happen! But again, even thier bad work is better than 90% of whats out there. It's comparing their own work
Damn, I liked reach out though
Yo The 80's Vibe Is Real Yo.... Love It To Death...
Loved this review. even though I love I'm a bit behind on his catalog. I try to separate anything i hear from Illmatic though. I can't wait to get this album and definitely think you guys stated some great pros and cons with the release
Ive always been a fan of Streets Disciple lol ,A little bit of filler but i thought it was solid 8/10
Nah Fam Re Listen To "Streets Disciple" That's A 9/10 Album Easy.....
Yo I got that same damn broom that's behind Feefo, y'all should bring that back
I thought the production on no introduction was amazing
It was amazing. The beginning gives me chills every time.
I thought this was a great album and I like the You Wouldn't Understand track, but I appreciate hearing y'all opinions. I personally like hearing this more personal side of Nas. That's why God's Son is one of my favorite Nas albums. And I really enjoyed the production as well on this album.
The Lost Tapes was a crazy underrated album, he killed that (listen to Purple, doo rags, black zombie)
Most of the beats aren't even bad. All that they're doing is nitpicking. Which is why they say that Stillmatic 'failed to capture the spirit of his first album'. It's just the fact that people give Nas' impossibly high standards and say that he "fell off" because he doesn't live up to them. Nobody, even Rakim, has to live up to standards that high. But then they claim that it's 'fair'. That's pure B.S. Again, they need to let Illmatic go.
Word...
This was a great album. It was put together so well, his concept was great and it all flowed together. I'm sure it will be a definite contender for "Album of the Year" on any award show, but I'm not sure if it will win it. In my opinion it is a Top 3 of his albums for me.
I just finished listening to this album for the first time about an hour ago and I agree with Myke, the first five songs on the album were fucking amazing but after that it just fell off for me personally, though it picked back up on a few songs. Nas is an amazing lyricist and I thought all of his verses on this album were great, but they just ended up being dope verses in songs that I just wasn't feeling.
Here's a guide of making this album a top to bottom classic. Get the deluxe version, remove reach out, you wouldnt understand and summer on smash. Download the song "Trust". Burn a new disc with the songs you have. BAM!! You have one of the greatest albums ever. The deluxe songs are really good...
Me personally, this was a very good album! Even the songs that people are hating on, I liked. It's been a good while since I heard a hiphop album where I was liking every song, but I love the songs here, and I love that the songs feel like their meant for an older audience. Also, I didn't compare this to Illmatic! Besides, that album's time has been passed, and now it's a new day and a new time. Still, this is a very good album to me, I thoroughly enjoyed it:)
This is the first nas album ive actually paid attention to besides illmatic, because im only 15, but i thought this was really dope
If you guys haven't heard, check out 'Trust' it wasn't on the album but it should have been cause it is the best track.
Yeah and more??
Mine is anyway.
1. Illmatic
2. IWW
3. Lost Tapes
4. Stillmatic
5. God's son/Life is Good Can't decide, if we don't count lost tapes I would put LIG in there because I really like it.
"crispy chicken!" lmao beezy is a fool
Problem is ppl like different types of Nas..mafioso, afro-centric pro black, braggadocious or the concept story tellin Nas...I just appreciate them all for what they are.
10 yrs later and this album STILL is in my top 5 albums of Nas. The fact so many don't fuck with Reach out and You wouldn't understand blows my mind. Those beats are so nostalgic to the 80s. The way he flows on them I feel like I'm back in NY in 1988 with a Triple fat Goose on chilling on the block. Brilliant. Life is Good is truly the first grown man album in hip hop history. It was a classic when I heard it in 2012 and it still is 2022. It has everything a true Nas fan would want other than Summer on smash lol. Oh and the bonus songs Where's the Love, 🌹's and Black Bond are incredible.
Many people who claim to be heads first reaction is to hate Nas when he drops. Weird stuff
"I don't think I've ever heard Nas be this personal before." Yeah, God's Son was him just describing a character in 3rd person right?
Nas is the best MC IMO. Even if no other album was as good as illmatic it doesn't matter cause stillmatic, it was written, Gods son, lost tapes, untitled and I am (mostly) are classic. I don't think ANY rapper has created an album as good as ilmatic. Illmatic is the best album ever. Second is paid in full and third is ready to die.
You must not listen to very much Hip-Hop.
It's true in my opinion u have yours but don't start making false accusations.
The Showster True, but Illmatic isn't as good as people say it is, but that's just my opinion.
No madvilliany?
***** eyedeaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Can u guys plz do reviews on classic albums from the 90's like Illmatic, The Chronic, Slim Shady LP, Reasonable Doubt, etc.?? Just wanted to see ur guy's views on those records
No Songs on the album aside of 2, which were good?
Man that sounds like just hating, there were many great songs.
True after It was written his beat selection wasn't the best. still a living legend.
That Mary track was dope...Granted the sample and the hook have been sampled and interpolated many times before that's also what sold me on the track, it had a nostalgic feel to it...
This album was one of the best albums that came out during that year. And some people said Nas fell off but Untitled which was his last solo album was REALLY good. I actually do prefer Untitled than Life is Good, but still, Life is Good, a great album.
what you mea he's back, there has been no decline in quality for years with his music
I dont agree with everything they said about the album but it is their opinion. To me this album is dope! Through and through.
This is one of his best albums to me
"Jay-Z is killing Nas"
Actually Nas killed Jay on ether, your argument is invalid
maybe i wont understand LMFAO
I'm a Nas fan, I loved the album. 7.5/10 IMO
Does 7,5 really mean that you love it? Wow, ok...
***** it does lol, its not 10/10 lol
+Nic214E you act like 7.5 is terrible score...
It's not-it means it's a solid album, but I personally wouldn't say that 7.5 means you're LOVING something...
***** You can love something but still be overly critical of it. I loved yezus for what it was but its still a terrible album by kanye's standards.
i actually loved the track with mary j he killed that incredible flow on that!!
Very good review. I personally prefer "Stillmatic" to "Illmatic", but I love both. This was maybe a let down, but it's still a good album.
great album; Nas never disappoints me
Personally I really liked this, if I were to rank his albums it would be in the upper half.
Score? I don't really believe in review scores but an 8 or 8,5.
Favorite tracks: No Introduction, Daughters & World's An Addiction
Least favorite tracks: Summer On Smash & The Don
nobody said he wasnt but just imagine him and Myke going back and forth that would be the funniest thing even
DEADENDHIPHOP + NIKBAG
11:10 WORD
He wanted to work with only a few producers, so No I.D. and Salaam Remi, he's saving Premo for their own project together.
It's nice to see that i'm not the only one who thinks this.
Nas & Damien Marley album together Distant Relatives is a classic and underrated
Summer on smash is the weakest track, and it's not a bad track, just doesn't fit the album
Def jam forced it on the album.
@@dfwherbie8814idk why you wouldn’t understand would’ve been a great single for summer vibes
KInge made me think different i was always hoping for an ILLMATIC but when he said put that a album on its own it made me really appreciate it more as its own album
Kinge always references the same three albums, "What's Going On,", "Kind of Blue," and, "A Love Supreme."
All time classic albums!!
people either love or hate "reach out" with MJB. i loved it!

5. life is good
I don't care what y'all saying,... this album is CLASSIC!, period. dnt tell me its great but so so album is better,., Illmatic is Nas 90's, this is 2012 Illmatic as far as am concerned,
As a youngin' growing up around Young Money era… this was my 'illmatic'… ain' neva heard anybody flow so smooth on instrumentals. Took me on a new plateu thru rap slow
I like this album. I think it was good even though it was kind of generic sounding, nothing stood out really production wise except the don. daughter, cherry wine, bye baby, and the don are the only songs I really felt for that stood out to me. I didn't expect too much from this though because I know he has money and most of the things he would be talking about it his divorce and how life is good once you get past that. The only track I felt disappointed on was the Mary J track.
Hey you guys yu didnt mention?? that joint'' The Black Bond''Lyrically its my Fav track PERIOD!!
what was mike's last album that he liked genuinely??
blank face - schoolboy q
Is that "Growing Up," by Elzhi, playing in the back?
They need to listen to the itunes bonus tracks and see if their opinion remains the same.
