This past week or so, I’ve listened to hours and hours of jump blues and early R&B, and it never fails to put me in such a good mood. Damian is doing so much to keep this fantastic style of music alive and best of all, he’s inspiring people to study it, learn it, and have fun with it. Hooray for Damian!!
Very cool lesson. Appreciated the song history. Extra content at the end (state park) and thought was also appreciated. Your's is one of the cooler channels on RUclips.
What a great lesson and demo! Thank you Damian , great to hear the history of the song too. Best wishes from Northern Ireland, love your channel and subscribed a while ago. 🌌🌅🌠🕊👌🏻
I remember this tune being played in the Rock n roll/ rockabilly clubs in the UK in the 70s by The Royal Showband. A great version. Worth a listen on RUclips. Great sax solo.
Cool! I’ve always wanted to learn this song! Thanks again for the awesome instruction and amazing history and backstory! Those p-90’s put out a great tone! You ROCK Damian!
With just 4000 more subscribers, you'll get the big silver RUclips Play award. I'm sure you will hit that soon, Damian, (and thanks for all the lessons and tips too)👍
Hi, from the UK. Love rockabily, so much fun to play, and to improvise to. Great fun to incorporate these licks, and tricks, into your own playing as well!
Thank you Damian, once again a brilliant song, I love that you tell the story of it, it's inspiring to discover the connection between these artists and the songs.
I love your playing. I just looked at your bio and was surprised to see you were a member of Rocket 88. I probably saw you perform. They were one of my favorites years ago. Great playing and videos. Thank you.
I played with Rocket 88 in the mid to late 90s during the big Swing craze. In 1999 I left the group to pursue my own band. Great memories from back then though. Cheers :)
The Swamp Shakers do an amazing version of this song. Thanks for sharing this song and it's history. As you share a tasty chunk of the music it would be cool to know how to extend the song before the 6/9 chord. The band really turns the sont into an event! Also that X-X-15-14-12-15 chord is a dewsy to grab without a cutout on my acoustic. Any good alternates for that sound down the neck. Tried X-X-X-X-12-15. Jeff
Nice one ! Hello Damian , i was watching the real ” road house ” movie . Do you know about the blind musician in the movie ? Jeff Healey ? At first i realise he was really playing guitar . Next i saw this Guy impressef SRV himself . And last i find he was guitarist and trumpetiste in jazz from 30's. What a man
I met Jeff Healey in the late 90s. I have a interesting story about our meeting that I will one day share on this channel. He was such a talented guitarist. BTW the original Road House film is great. :)
Nice guild. Haven't played a guild I didn't like. Even less expensive ones like Guild Surfliner (I got one with an amazon giftcard) are pretty rad. I almost bought an expensive guild acoustic last month but my heart was set on a martin d18. I will say that the guild dreadnoughts outplayed every Gibson acoustic (including j45, hummingbird, etc) I tried. I should have probably tried j200 as all the Gibson acoustics sounded quiet as hell. I'm mainly an electric player but needed a decent acoustic that could project well. I've actually been eyeballing a couple of their basses too.
Misfits fiend on the wall NYHC comp too Rubber Soul T-shirt Guild arch top with P90’s Godzilla Transformer All good stuff !! And the Hucklebuck to boot!!
I knew a guy in college that rapped, his brother was his DJ and they would play shows on campus....anyway his big song was called "the hucklebuck" which was supposedly the name of a sexual position lol....today he owns a successful Greek restaurant and there is a "Hucklebuck" on the menu......😉
the first thing I think of when I hear this song is The Honeymooners episode where Ed Norton tries to teach Ralph Kramden how to dance! ruclips.net/video/Vihnr5dM3PM/видео.html

Sean Costello did a great version of this song!
For sure. I dig all the suttle embellishments he puts into his version :)
