I saw this video maybe four years ago?
I was in sixth grade and I just picked up flute and alto sax. After seeing this same video again and again, my friend became a percussionist. Now, I play guitar, flute, all the saxophones regularly and the piano. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO. THIS RUclips VIDEO ACTUALLY CHANGED MY LIFE. WUT

They just reduced the lighting for filming that segment and reduced the exposure setting the camera was using to make it seem like it was completely dark. At that exposure level the only thing visible would be anything brightly lit. He could see the instruments just fine.

Every time I watch this video (and I'm coming back to it from time to time since it was released) I am trully amazed. I just can't comprehend amount of work you put into 5 min clip. First you've built your own instrument (!), then you came up with the idea for the plot, co-created a fake iphone app, played all tracks on various instruments (which basically required composing them), solely played 6 different roles, prepared professional camerawork and put it all together! Not to mention the beautiful illumination in the end! :D You could have neglected so many things during the process, but you did everything perfectly. Personally I think you've put more work into this video than DP put in creating the original song.
