He really was! It's a shame his story isn't more well known and told, and honestly i might do a biographical video on him at some point. He was a great man.
@@CTEMmm I would love to see that! Since I grew up around here, they taught about him in school, but I am surprised his story isnt known widespread as a great tale of American values and innovation. Plus Hersheypark having over 100 years of history and still being a thriving park is a pretty great legacy!
@@technicolortabby4239 thats interesting to hear, i grew up and lived in Maryland and even there, one state away, nothing about him was taught in schools. And yes, hersheypark itself has a very long history! I dont think many people even know its that old honestly,
Wow its crazy looking back on this video, and I GREATLY appreciate all the love it has gotten, but wow is this dogshit...almost makes me want to re-do it haha. Maybe I will once I get back to making content
It's pronounced "Lenkister". Re: Chocolatetown - Most of the locals aren't super thrilled about the Park taking up YET MORE LAND. That's the thing about building a theme park in the middle of town, eventually you run out of space. The land that's being repurposed was at one time the old Hershey Swimming Pool built in the 1920s and closed around 1940. It was simply filled in and seeded with grass. The only thing that remains is a large lighthouse sculpture. Dunno what they're going to do with that. I hope they leave it. The Hershey Golf Course still exists and is still open.
I worked at Hersheypark back in the 70s. I worked in the rides and some of your information you got wrong. Hersheypark has one of the best safety record. The reason some of the rides in Hershey go away it's because they're not safe enough. Hershey employees get paid below minimum wage back in the 70s. Unfortunately there was two accidental deaths of employees Hersheypark back then in the 70s.
Did I say something to the contrary about Hershey's safety? It's been a long time since this video but I don't recall. What specifically did I get wrong? You didn't point out any specifics
@@CTEMmm You got wrong was the Himalayas stayed around a little longer. Moved to a different location in the park. The reason they were keeping the Himalaya little bit longer is because they had problems with the ride. The guy from France that designed Himalaya didn't speak English so he had to have a translator with him. There was two people on the ride that got hurt then they decided to get rid of the ride all together. So I had to write up a incident report and all the other ride operators had to do the same thing.
I love the information, but Nitro is not a giga.
Ah shoot!!! I goofed >~
Man how does this not have more views! Very informative!
I appreciate it a lot!!! 💜
Yeah why????
