Dead Internet Theory - Everyone in this video is AI generated

  • Inspired by the recent financial crime incident, where hackers held a video meeting with AI generated video of employees, I decided to make a video call-esque type generation to see how convincing it could be.
    There are better ways to do this but for speed and resources i just used stable diffusion, with SVD and flow frames to produce short video clips ranging from 2 to 14 seconds in length which i then pieced together.
    The output is not that impressive if your up to date on the latest technology, but still shows what can be achieved, if you had shown me these videos a few years ago, i wouldn't of though it was possible.
    If you can tell that most of these videos are fake, then wait a couple months, if you cant tell, then welcome to the future.

    Your voice is probably also generated. Which makes it even funnier on a meta-level. Or its not and now we start assuming everything is generated, so people will start pointing out small flaws in your voice which shows you're a human. But these flaws were generated in order to be perceived as a human.

    Could you throw a “bad camera quality” noise filter over some of the better examples here where the camera angle and position is static, add compression artifacts on top, and reduce the frame rate to 12 fps?
    I bet it would make something extremely believable.

    • @Chris-my2gs

      I wish I had the VRAM to run SVD because I have a theory you could probably do some sort of trick where if you want it to continue the short video you just pass it the last frame, and that it would just look like a bad connection, if you were simulating a webcam transmission.

      definitely mate, i probably went in the wrong direction using interpolation to increase the frames by x8, the original raw footage probably looks more realistic.

      @explorationsci5738  6 месяцев назад +1

      @@Chris-my2gs it kind of works up to a point, when you feed the last output frame back in too many times, everything starts looking less realistic and more vivid / plastic-y, i actually did it a few times in this video to extend the length of some of the generations, 3 or 4 times seems to be the max though for quality

    Watching a video is not "seeing", we have been in a world where believable gerenated video has been around for quite a while. The only difference is now we can make these images from scratch.

    AI image gen can currently only do still images and make them animate somewhat. AI doesn't understand what things are the way we do, which is why it'll take well over a decade.

      @@filipzawadzki9424Wow. What black magic is that? Very impressive leap, but they're showing cherrypicked examples, still somewhat similar to a still image. The way it understands layers, backgrounds and movement is incredible. Maybe it'll be sooner than 10 years, possibly 4-6?

    • @avaleloc1513
      @avaleloc1513 6 месяцев назад

      @@LBPreviews they might be cherrypicked, but they are still no less impressive. These aren't just little shorts, these are full on videos up to around a minute in length, showing consistency and little to no artifacting. All while generating extremely high quality video with complex concepts such as reflections and material physics. There's this one video of a victoria crowned pigeon showing the feathers bouncing as it turns its head. It's chest moves as it breathes. It is damn near INDISTINGUISHABLE from reality. This shit is coming and it is coming NOW.

      @@avaleloc1513 Indeed, the leap they made was totally unpredictable to me, no clue how they did it. But there's a reason why none of the videos they showed had people interacting with anything, likely because that isn't possible without hilarious results.

    • @avaleloc1513
      @avaleloc1513 6 месяцев назад

      @@LBPreviews yeah, I've seen one where there is a group of archeologists are pulling a plastic chair out of the sand in a desert (lol), and it does indeed warp and morph a fair bit, and another one where there's a group of wolf pups playing, but they kind of just phase through each other. They aren't quite there yet, but they are definitely getting close, and we honestly still don't know how much progress has already been made behind the scenes. It would not surprise me in the slightest if they've managed to mostly solve this by this year.
