Yes Rabea! I just shot my first YT video for my channel and the Revv D20 is going to be the hub for everything I do. Writing for a kid's tv show I have to be quick and have tones that are on fire. This little head into the Apollo with two-notes inside is worth every single penny. Keep creating my friend. Hope to meet in person one day once I earn my own YT stars and stripes. :)
To be fair, the Mesa Boogie Mark 5:25 or 5:35 have offered the combination of a superb sounding amp and an integrated load-box (Mesa’s own Cab-Clone) including headphone-out, the ability to work without a speaker cabinet, XLR-out and MIDI in a small head Version for several years. They also have loads of tones on tap from clean to extreme gain. Ridiculously expensive, but if you add the Revv Gx pedals to the equation, not too much of a difference. The Revv does get bonus points thanks to the Torpedo suite, which gives you loads of possibilities to control from your computer and the different cab simulations.
I swear to fuck. Im convinced you're one of the greatest guitarists/riff writers alive right now. Your style is so unique and well sorted. Unmatched skill. I could listen to you noodle for hours.
Nice thanks for taken me with ya on that journey threw the garden of azubar, wer in this world is that made Bea. You sold me in the first and clean as you can be part.Alwys a joy.Iv got to admit you can see when itasked you to bing it on over into this world..It deffently brings out the kid in you.Nice job Buddy.Take care my friend.
Dude-if you just did nothing but play- that alone would sell the Revv D20. Unbelievable sound. And your playing is amazing. You got me wanting to buy this.
Best review of a guitar amp that I've seen. It was this video that kicked me off the fence. It's due at my home tomorrow, and I'm not even a guitar player yet! I'm actually a 25 + year drummer, finally getting into recording in my own project studio. My plan is to produce live drum tracks for clients, but this product will open the door to killer guitar tracks as well. Thanks !!
Your reviews are always amazing ! Versatile gear, your incredible ear for tone, you play such a diverse range of genres, and you play each of them so well ! You maintain such a friendly attitude, without the huge ego most other reviewers flaunt. Thank you.....this review made my day, and helped me decide on the perfect amp for my 1x12 cab (and use with my computer).
Was not expecting Blood and Thunder. Absolutely killer demo. Might have to get one. Absolutely stacked with tunes and I’ve been looking for something this versatile and convenient.
Just wanted to say thank you for doing this review. I've been waiting for something like this for a long time and, thanks to you, I found one of these babies used for about 800$ at just the right time! Thanks again for this very comprehensive review, man.
Sounds awesome in my headphones and in my studio! Hey Rabea, what do you use to listen when you make your videos? Are you listening with IEM or your studio monitors! 🤘🤘could listen to you play all day
I can't tell if I want this! On one hand, it's super portable, is made in Canada and has a very pleasing tone. On the other hand, it seems to be better suited for the studio vs. live use, most demos rave about the Two Notes vs. the head into a cab set up and technology changes so much that I fear this will be a trendy product!
Rabea, although I agree the tone is amazing,I do have a criticism. You are using your own IR's so the tone you are creating is not what the guy in the street who buys the amp will here, It would have been better to use the pre loaded IR's for a better representation of the amp. Having said that,I am very impressed with it and I'm looking to possibly get one.... also can you get hold of the IR's you were using? Or download them from yourself or somewhere?
Warren Bolton hey man, I agree, I could have used the on board IR’s I guess I just loved it so much I immediately integrated into my rig so I loaded my stuff in and then started messing with it before I shot the video. In hindsight it would’ve been better. But the IR’s I use will be available soon
@@RabeaMassaad HI Rabea, I was wondering if by now it would be possible to get hands on your IR's yet? Ive had the D20 for some time but I never am able to get close to this tones... !!
Rev on - sounds freekin awesome - Great sounding gear - Nice demo Rabea - I really liked your hyper picking (metal chug stuff) ala Ola - Ola got nothing on you.
For the price, I think Revv should have made this a true two channel amp with a genuine Generator channel instead of a single channel with a crunch mode. Or dropped the price by about 30%. Better value propositions lie with the Peavey 20w lunchbox heads like the Classic 20 (half the price) with comparable features. Of course, the Peavey cab sim DI output doesn't come close to this functionality or sound, but it's decent. That said, great playing and review as always
I didn’t even know there was a G2 pedal! I wish there an eq bypass (without just plugging into fx return) for “pedal platform” amps. I still want the gain control and the preamp tubes, but I want my eq shaping from my “preamp” pedals.
Kickass demo, Bea. And this is definitely a great tool. Probably gonna be my first Revv. I love their stuff , but I'm not a high-gain guy; this, however, is a whole other ballgame... Cheers
First, the guys out at Revv are now kicking themselves for not getting the D20 into Bea's hands sooner! Second, the PT15 may be in a bit of trouble with competition like the D20 lurking about. Lastly, thank you, Bea! This video was off the chain and I'm saving up for a D20 and a G2! SiCk tones!!!!!!
I’ve always kept part of my rig organic, that’s why I use tube heads and a Torpedo Studio. I’d rather have something like this than a Kemper. It sounds outstanding, and it looks the part too. What other amps would you like to see this in? Love the review Bea and the new studio looks absolutely smoking. Congrats! 🤘🏻😎
That internal load / speaker switch on the back should have been a rotary switch. I could see somebody having that push button switch set in the wrong position very easily.
Seems like at first glance they only thing this has that the Boss Katana doesn't is a balanced XLR output, and -twice as many- many more simulated cab options. And tubes, for those for whom that is a must. But also 3x the price. OTOH, the Katana has tons of built in effects and tweakability options. I suppose the D20 is aimed at people who will be using mostly vst plugins anyhow.
I would love to see you use 2 of the Revv D20 heads with the Kemper toaster as a stereo rig and wet/dry rig, similar to how you may use your Kemper with two of your signature Victory Kraken heads, but with the added silent option with Two Notes cabinet impulses/emulations
Damn, I recently bought a Marshall SV20H and if I could go back in time I think I’d have gotten this instead. Seems like a lot of amp for the money. I might just get one anyhow. Dammit! Great demo, by the way.
Suhr already makes a tube amp with built in IR. It's a version of the PT15 Pete Thorn signature amp, called the PT15 I.R. Not quite as geared towards high gain tones as this one and definitely more expensive. But really good!
True....But the PT15, awesome as it is and as Suhr generally is, is more than DOUBLE the list price of this Revv, with the PT15 at a street price of 2700USD vs 1300USD.
This is a wonderful amplifier but you should be aware that the software affects provided by the two notes torpedo system are not available when you are using a regular passive guitar speaker. If you want the Reverb and preamp settings using Two Notes, (which are really great), you will need to use the XLR output on the back of the amp and run it to a powered PA type speaker. This was a little disappointing for me as I like the color provided by a regular guitar speaker.
This is proof that the sound actually comes from the fingers. Looks handy anyways, great tone.. would you do comparisons between similar amps/effects? I already bought the Blackstar!
A great video, fantastic demonstration of a potentially great and innovative product from this highly talented gentlemen. But £1049??? How much?!!! Plus the cost of those very good pedals and safe to say you’re in Kemper territory. Perhaps it’s an amp you need for rehearsal etc then consider the Peavey Invective lunchbox with many home recording features which retails for £699.
81giorikas absolutely agree with that and you name some great alternatives too plus there’s that Laney Ironheart Studio amp too which I did try at home but wasn’t keen on the tone. Those go for abut a quarter of the price of the Revv product on eBay now. And this is before we mention the better plug ins out there, although I’m not generally keen on them as a rule due to latency 🤘🏻
Great review! Do you think a product like this could replace a Kemper (I mean: be better than a Kemper) for studio or fly gig (as long as you want a clean platform and use pedals)? Thanks a lot!
Hi, awesome video. Quick question : where are you adding your delay and reverb in the chain? In front of the amp or in the effect loop? Also, they sound l.u.s.h, what reverb and delay are you using? Thanks
Interesting video, and interesting product. I know you're a big fan of the 2notes stuff, but aside from that software on board, how would you compare this to the Hughes and Kettner Grandmeister Deluxe 40? It seems to me that the H&K is maybe more flexible, also has the XLR out, cab simulators, etc etc etc, but doesn't have the software. Your review is what got me to buy the H&K, so just curious how you feel this stacks up, and where it may be more applicable than the H&K. Thanks man. Keep up the fabulous content.
Everyone is saying it's a great pedal platform but I wonder with the right boost on top of the gain how it would sound for metal? and I wonder if it can keep up with an aggressive drummer live.
Rabea, Finally. I've been wondering if youyd do this amazing Amp review. I have a Victory BD-1, finally saved enough for it. Now I dream of this REVV to play in stereo with that. One day. Thanks for your reviews and music. It always inspires!
wow...i havent been excited about a tone in a good long while. thx for the demo. i loved the clean tone more than the amps dirty side. maybe using the amp for clean, one of those revv pedals for a rhythm, and then a boss eq for soloing...thx for a great video
This is not the first tube amp with a built-in loadbox. The Laney IRT Studio had one, there was a Carvin amp that did (can't remember the model), and several others as well.
It sure is not, it is the first with the Two notes Torpedo Embedded, and 1 of the first that you can load IR's into. We definitely didn't claim it to be the first of anything more than the first Torpedo Embedded amplifier :)
Can you use a cab and balanced out to the PA at the same time? I'd like to be able to run this to the front of house but still use the cab to monitor my sound from the stage and at least hear myself.
I wonder if it would have been possible to have the speaker output socket wired in such a way, that the amp would automatically connect to the internal load when there was no speaker connected.
Yeah dude, tones for days with that amp and pedal rig!
hey Keith, what are your thoughts one the G20? Personally enjoying the shit out of mine

Yeah, and I like how modest he is by NEVER replying to complements like this! Must be a God given right or something!
This is the exact feature set that I’ve been looking for as well.
Can’t believe they couldn’t make the crunch mode footswitchable, and a 16ohm output would be nice.
According to the manual, you can connect 16 ohm speaker when you have the ohm buttom in 8 ohms.

Very rich tone right out of the amp. When switching presets via MIDI, how are transitions handled? Any muting? Clicks?
can this be a gigging amp? 20 watts, for large venues..? Do they have a 100watt variant?
