Hi there, did you do a comparison if the optical cable sounds just like the analog cable? The reason why I ask is, that I thought (sort of the same like you)... I use a CAT5 based stagebox to bring in my audiosignals from the recording room into my mixing room and instead of having a multicore just use one tiny cable where length does not really matter. I did then AB testing and found out that the CAT5 cable was adding highs and was different in the lows as well...not a tiny bit but a big change in sound. I went back to the good old multicore then. Because what is the point of having great analog gear and then diminishing that sonic quality by a cable. So I wonder what your experience is with that topic
delighted to hear ya into it
