And that kids, is why when a storm is predicted with winds over 50kt you take your genoa off the furler and stow it below, and if you have a furling main, do that too. And put your bimini and/or soft dodgers down as well. And strap all fenders you have to your boat. And pray to your favorite deity.
I don't think that the wind at the very moment of recording was 12bft, more 9 to 10 bft with gusts up to 130 km / hour, comparable with Eunice in Rotterdam, 18 th february 2022, nevertheless a very good footage 🙂
@@partymeeple5633 just because there is a Force 12 in X does not mean there is a Force 12 in Y. It has to do with wind strength and some places are relatively sheltered. Did you see the Beaufort Scale? Obviously not or you would stop making silly comments...
Who authorized to setup this marina in a such open sea? All ship owners should recal for justice and refound. Because I believe this is not a first or last tempest the video has been shared in 2009 and I am watching today 2 November 2020.
The marina is very well protected. It is inland in a bay. Look it up on a chart or map. That winter, my port, not too far away, the wind speed device on top of the capitainerie recorded gusts up to 183km/h. I had an exploded fender (HTM4 type).

Looks more like 9-10 to me
@@TheDaveJoosten Definitely more than 10
Where is this marina??.. I never go there!

En large ca peux etre fatale?!😨
Un infierno de sangre y fuego!
The only guys that are happy are the boatyards. Lot’s of hull crunching and gelcoat damage to fix.
And local sailmakers will sell some genoas
toss a couple reefs in the main hank on the storm jib and go have some fun ...
Yeah and make a video for us to enjoy
Crap port facilities good guys helping out!!!
That is why I prefer not to use a roller reefing headsail.
BTW a 9 or 10 at the most, certainly not a 12.
You cannot judge the wind force by this pic : the harbor is well protected. Maybe it was registered force 12 at sea or offshore… Pretty gusty though.
It was force 12 easily. You only needed to do a little googling

@@FubarGuy666 Did you check the informed reference I posted? So you could be as informed as i was? We can be informed together. Won't that be so nice?

Ca dépote ! …
Not a safe harbour
Furl and forget: make a sailmaker rich.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 good very good
One word..."Snotty"..
Rafales à 60 noeuds , surement !
12 mon c... !
Nice sailing weather..just kidding, bit sporty
c'est bon pour le commerce ça !
