I really like this interview, she’s listening to his answers and really engaging with him. She’s also hyping him up without going overboard which is 100% something I’d do for the 1975 as an interviewer.
Matty is such a confident dude about his art and career but still when he was told that he's a big deal he got really nervous and didn't know what to say. How adorable
Well said. I find myself relating to him in all sorts of ways. But one way in particular is what you mentioned. When it comes to his music, his art, he's VERY confident. But as a human being, he's quite fragile and ridden with anxiety. He basically said as much in an interview(the one where he talked about Imagine Dragons). I SO identify with that paradox. I focus 100% of my energy on my creative talents, and it has more than paid off. And so, I feel supremely confident when it comes to articulating my creative vision. But I'm a bundle of anxiety and deflated confidence in social situations. I think that's why art/creativity is so important to me, and probably to Matty as well. It's a shield in a way....a barrier to the raw painful realities of life and human interaction. But it's also my best shot at presenting who I am to others. On my own, I'm a mess. But when my art speaks for me....people listen and take it seriously. It's very validating. Just wish there was some way to permanently entangle the two.... :/
Matty is so natural, so sincere, i just admire how open he is to everyone and especial in his lyrics. its so precious.. i think its the reason why he cannot make singles.its like when you meet someone at some party whom you barely remember next morning..listening to the Matty's albums its like you date him again and again so after each song you know him better and better..an album is always much intimate than a single
Stevie & The Masquerades I think he meant he isn’t good with writing purely standalone songs that aren’t part of an album like some artists do versus “singles” in the sense of a popular song within a greater body of work like an EP or album. He knows his way around a hook and a chorus, but doesn’t want to write one off songs.

@@moonlightriverra6019 omg I'm so sorry it took me so long to get back! Please go listen to his interviews. The one with Beats1 about his addiction and future plans. Another about Horse Therapy. Have you heard their first album? There are many legendary songs in it like Robbers and Milk and so many more. How far have you heard their stuff now?
Also, if you haven't watched all the music videos, please do that. There's another video called 'An aesthetic history of the 1975' on BBCR1. Go watch that too!

jacquie woolsey the other guys don’t seem to like to be interviewed much. Occasionally you’ll see George there too but Matty’s the big talker. Anyway as the lead singer he’s kinda the face of the band also. I get what you’re saying but also some ppl don’t like being in that situation.
this interviewer listing good qualities of matty in the beginning is me
