The second plane is the same kind of aircraft (Boeing built both), but it is an RC-135 electronic intelligence gathering plane. The two are likely conducting acquisition and line-up training to keep their skills sharp for in-flight refueling exercises.
Thank you, It did feel as though it was scanning. I looked on flightrader and i could see it was taking the same path but moved a little each time it flew over. technolgy is moving so fast, amazing
Scanning? Unlikely. Doesn't look like they were flying very high, so more likely they were doing pattern work and approaches in and out of a nearby airfield. Keep calm.
