Is it weird to to say watching your videos brought me to tears? Your level of creativity is mind blowing. You have such a natural way of explaining complicated processes so easily. And you do it with some of the best quality video I’ve ever seen.
Ok seriously, I've watched many an espresso video from the serious expert practitioners on youtube who are great. That said...you figure it out like we all would hope to do...step by step, trial and error, and deliver a great presentation that is humble, practical and delivers results! Boom. Well Done
The absolutely BEST video in terms of presentation, pacing, clarity and visual instruction of any instructional video in any category. Downright perfect.
Wow, how awesome is this video! Our first three weeks with our new espresso machine and no luck with latte art so far. But can’t wait till morning with these amazing tips…thanks!
You are the very best at explaining in such easy and understanding way that is enjoyable to watch. The camera is always showing what you are explaining which helps a lot. Great work. Keep it going!!
You were saying you are not a coffee professional but after watching your video I don't believe it. Not only perfect coffee but perfect video too. The quality of your video is excellent 👍🏼😉
This whole time I’ve been following others’ directions perfectly with not great results, but I think the tip to move quickly after purging is what finally did it, thank you!
Man I’ve watched a lot of milk texturing videos from professional Baristas and this was particularly well done, particularly with the nuances of the Breville. Great production quality as well. 👌
I could not for the life of me, steam milk with my new Smeg. Just watching your video one time, I did it!! Your explanations are easy to follow and successful!
Over the last few days I had a lot of issues getting a the microfoam at a point where I deemed that it was steam wand issue. After watching this video I now understand the science behind microfoam and that helped me fix my issues after following the technique you described here. The mistake that i was making was that i was burning the milk since i like coffeee hot and in that process ruining the whole microfoam creation process.I use the 30 degrees angle technique along with the instinct to judge the hotness of the mug to get a good microfoam. Also since I am using the same mug as you I am able to get the right amount of milk as you described and i see that gives me a lot of room to practice my latte art. Thank you for the detailed explanation and looking forward to more videos from you. Keep up with the good work !!
This is one of the best milk texturing videos that I’ve watched!! It was really helpful knowing why you shouldn’t position the wand in the centre, the trouble shooting tips, why you should swirl the milk around etc. thanks so much 😊
I have watched 30+ videos on how to properly steam milk with my new Breville machine and your video is by far the most helpful and descriptive. I cannot wait to try what I’ve learned in this video. THANK YOU!
I’ve been practicing what I learned from this video and FINALLY was able to make latte art!!! I cannot tell you how excited I am! Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom! 😊
I have a breville infuser and I just reread the directions after so many years and I found it helpful that when you turn on the steam wand the light will flash. When it stops flashing you switch it off, within a 5-second period, put the steam wand in the pitcher so it doesn't splash- then quickly turn it back on. When I finish steaming as soon as I take the wand out I quickly purge the wand for a second and then switch it back so the machine will do its cool down purge. One day I'll have a double boiler but until then I found these extra steps useful.
Every time I regress in my milk texturing, I come back to this video. For whatever reason, I get complacent, and my texturing capabilities drop off about ever 3 weeks, so a refresher is nice. So, thank you for sharing in such a high-quality way!
This videos are great. I think the only thing is looking at the level of the milk rises based off the air and different drinks have different levels (foam) so flat white least amount of air, latte in the middle with foam and cappuccino the most foam and highest level of rise after initial steaming
Awesome video. I'll have this video up on our large screen TV when I'm attempting my first few steams after my Espresso machine arrives tomorrow. Thanks again for the great video.
Yo.. You are literally the best at this, seriously! I've watched everyone in the RUclips espresso community your tutorials are the best.. I really like Lance Hedrick but he's now number 2 in my book.. I just purchased the Bambino and the breville smart grinder about a month ago so I'm a newbie for sure. This espresso/coffee journey has been super dope.. Glad I found your channel..Keep on sis.
Thank you so much! 🙏🏼 I really, really appreciate the support! I'm happy to be of assistance 🙂 Congrats on the new setup! Tag me in your coffee posts on IG!
Good tips. I came to RUclips because I am sick of having too much “solid” foam after steaming milk. I can pour a latte but always have a foam ball left in my jug. Anyway, a couple of points - I have never purged my barista express after steaming, yet it has never clogged. Also, I use a dish cloth that I let the wand purge onto so that when the steam starts, I just place my jug under it. No need to turn it off and on again. Some might not like the mess of this, but it’s part of my cleaning routine after using the machine. I use the same cloth to wipe the wand clean.
A suggestion, a long time ago, I worked in a bar. To create a good froth on the beer we would tilt the glass whilst pouring the beer. This is relevant because I use the same method when making frothy coffee. I put the coffee in the cup. Foam the milk as in the video. When adding the foam milk to the coffee, I tilt the cup and lay the milk on the surface of the coffee, to create a thing layer of milk on the surface of the coffee. Whilst pouring the milk slowly straighten the coffee cup. When I start to pour the milk, I keep the tip of the milk jug almost touching the surface of the coffee. This is very easy to do and difficult to explain. The end result is wonderful. I also have a small spoon available, to scoop out the remaining foam from the jug and give a wonderful surface to the coffee. It you know a bartender, ask them to show you. If not visit a bar and watch a skilled bartender, its the same technique :) The end result is a very nice cup of coffee and foamed milk :) Hope you enjoy. Best wishes.
Thanks for adding in the plant milk tips at the end too. I ditched dairy about 6 years ago and I know it may not be as “fun” to work with my plant milks for this but I’m gonna give it a go anyway 👊 any added info will be helpful im sure. Also, Your videos are put together very well! We all appreciate it vm!
Your review on the Breville Barista Pro is what convinced me to get one, your video on dialing it in helped me dial in my machine. Made my first drink with steamed milk while it was good I instantly wanted to learn how to steam the milk better. I went to your channel first because the way you explain things is very easy to follow. I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to exploring it to see what other videos you have coffee related and not coffee related!
I always watch videos, and have been watching them for years now. But I have never subscribed to any of them. This is the first chanel I subscribed to. You're a great teacher.
Just got my Barista Pro Touch and am intimidated on all things espresso. Your videos are amazing and helpful! It is also refreshing to see someone take so much pride in their work with quality production quality and detail. I’ll be purging your videos to understand what the hell I am doing.
Awesome video for the steaming milk process, that is the best and most complete one i have ever seen, and i have watched heaps of them. i am into it big time, and on top of that, coffee dose not keep me awake at night. keep up the good work.
It's already been said, but geez you are so good at teaching! I'm hooked ❤️. How do you manage to explain things better than world barista champions? You have a gift.
This was so helpful, thanks for sharing. Trying to learn how to make latte art but I can never get the milk right. I feel like your explanation gives me easy to follow steps, and I'm excited to try it again. Thank you!!
15:05🤯I've been having the Bambino plus for months and didn't now once you purge the steam wand, if you do it quickly then there will be no water and it will be just steam
wow just came across your videos and impressed the way you shoot and describe things in details is so insightful and informative. Not like pro barista which sometimes explaining something difficult to be more difficult but you make it clam and easy. Love your vids a lot!
I wish I have that purging knob in my Breville espresso machine. I guess I have to figure out if I can purge by just pressing the button for manual start and stop button. We’ll see and thanks for this video. I want my latte pretty. More practice for me and I hope I don’t waste a lot of milk to practice. 😂
Probably the best Breville milk steaming video I've watched, thank you. The only additional thing I would have liked to see is you steaming milk from beginning to end, no music, no commentary, no editing etc. Just as an example after all the guidance.
Amazing video! So amazing that I considered for 3 second to buy your coffee machine! I am exploring every move and detail of your video realizing your enhanced level (to my hobby barista level) but thereby able to see and spot many of your coffee battles and learnings you gained over the time in talking and showing the little details that professional baristas wouldn’t even touch or mention in their videos! Keep going!
Wow this is such a good tutorial. I wish i saw it a couple months ago. Theres such a difference between steaming on a dual boiler and a single boiler. You do such a great job explaining how to steam milk using the machine that, lets be real, most people actually have. I did use a thermometer for about a week and that helped me get a feel for temperature.
Thank you so much!! A big reason I wanted to share my experience/tips is exactly what you mentioned--many tutorials demo on a dual boiler or machines that are much more powerful than the more common Breville machines. The thermometer's very useful to get a better gauge of actual temp vs. feel in your own hand!! Thank you so much for watching and for your feedback!
Absolute magic. Thank you for the step by step tutorial. I actually use a Moka pot for my cappuccino and a milk frother. I find the froth from using the milk frother is too fine. Maybe I ‘ve left it too long but generally the consistency is acceptable.
After this excellent video (I got an espresso machine in Jan and more or less scoured the internet for all the info lol), I must request for one on pouring latte art please!
Oh man the production quality of these videos is amazing. And your voice is like the perfect soothing “documentary” voice. And your attention to detail/obsession with tedious things such as espresso making is on par with mine 😂 I have the bambino paired with a 1zpresso JX pro hand grinder and I pulled a decent shot on my second try tonight thanks to all your videos! Thank you!! Also ps: is milk steaming always SO loud?! Would love a real time vid of you doing it without background music. Love 💛
I have a Breville Barista Pro. It doesn't seem like there's enough room to work the pitcher downward if I have the wand in the front, even though I'm watching you do the same thing that I do. I have two questions: 1) since I'm using a Breville Barista Pro and using the pitcher it came with, and pouring cold whole milk to the point where it's about a half inch under the spout, if I pull the steam wand out to its maximum, will that give me the same *angle* you're using? 2)Also how did you modify the steam knob to have that long piece so you can more easily turn the steam on and off? Thanks.
1. You should be able to achieve the same angle as long as you move yourself to the side too in order to ensure the same angle. 2. I have a video on that! Link to the item is in the description and on my website. ruclips.net/video/dhNB22J3ojE/видео.html
Thanks for the great video! I am using exactly the same machine, but I am getting many bubbles in the coffee shot. It happens in the very beginning of the extraction, so it might not be because of over-extraction. I am not sure if it is because the machine (second-hand) is faulty or the way I use it is improper.
Oooh love your channels name. Salaam, I’m from California lived in the Middle East two decades ago. AnnMarie (ps- I’m going to stop ordering latte extra hot -you’re right it does taste burnt 🥵)
I've studied dozens of milk-steaming videos, but this one answered all my questions -- and it is so beautifully done. Looking forward to my next latte!
Awesome video, I am hoping that I will be able to also get that perfect milk foam one day ;-) (Completely random at the moment). How long approximately is that first airing phase with the Breville? (Maybe I am doing this too long as I usually get very much foam but not in this shiny silky quality)
This is super helpful, thanks! (Just got an Express) Also, been watching your coffee playlist and your videos and voice are so relaxing. If that was the intent, then it's working.
Slightly different technique for the alternative milks, as I mentioned in the video; slightly more aeration required for the alt milks! And since that extra air can cause a lot of bubbles, be sure to master your angle so that you can introduce the extra air without excess bubbles!
i finally bought my sage espresso pro machiene since 3 days. I introduced my beans how you do it as in your videos, but I have to say everything is stock, no distributor, just the original tamper and yes it comes out properly, I ordered the new distributor and tamper and it will arrive after the weekend, but I can't get the hang of frothing milk and I also watched your videos, I use whole milk and it is in the refrigerator and when I froth it is just hot milk and no foam, I don't understand it if I just take the milk from the store, it foams and has not been in the refrigerator. therefore what should I do, I am desperate
i'm not sure whether the lag in the steam coming out is causing lots of bubbles, I'm just doing my second jug of milk today. I learned steaming on a commercial machine so am not really used to the difference in steam power
Yes, kind of! I mean you can't do it without crema or a substance with a similar density/texture. For example if you try to do latte art in moka pot coffee (no crema), you've gotta pour extra milk into the base coffee to create a fake layer of crema. But if it's a well pulled shot, then you should be able to pour latte art into it. No need for excess thick crema
Just want to say I really enjoy watching your videos, I have the same machine as you. and am still learning how to get better at latte art and espresso knowledges. Please continue to share videos like this with us !!!!
I think I've asked this on your video before, but where did you get those cups? esp that yellow/orange one, If I wanted to get those cups in other colors or patterns what type of cup should I look for? Thanks for you videos.
Heyy I recognize you! 👋🏼 thanks for watching my content! amzn.to/389b5vs That's the cup/size I use for my lattes most often. Big enough to do sufficient latte art (you can fit even more art in there if you're advanced) and small enough to not have diluted espresso hahaa

I have a Breville Barista Pro. It doesn't seem like there's enough room to work the pitcher downward if I have the wand in the front, even though I'm watching you do the same thing that I do.
I have two questions:
1) since I'm using a Breville Barista Pro and using the pitcher it came with, and pouring cold whole milk to the point where it's about a half inch under the spout, if I pull the steam wand out to its maximum, will that give me the same *angle* you're using?

Just tap and swirl them out too. It happens!! I always swirl my espresso before pouring milk into it anyway 🙂
@@HijabsandAprons It turned out that it was because of the dual wall basket I used. The espresso is much less bubbly if single wall basket is used :)
@@gavinlin6636 oh yes definitely use a single wall basket for fresh beans!
Great video, great captions and great editing. Now I want to upgrade to the Barista Pro. Thanks for sharing your video.
thanks so much for watching!! 🙂
Oooh love your channels name. Salaam, I’m from California lived in the Middle East two decades ago. AnnMarie (ps- I’m going to stop ordering latte extra hot -you’re right it does taste burnt 🥵)
Thank you so much!! Oh gosh it could be the milk or they might be over-extracting the espresso. Or a sad combination of both 😂😭
Thank you for an excellent video and tutorial. It was very informative and easy to follow. Thanks again!
Really happy to have helped!
This was great to watch! Thank you for sharing!
I've studied dozens of milk-steaming videos, but this one answered all my questions -- and it is so beautifully done. Looking forward to my next latte!
This video was so helpful. Thank you!
Very detailed Video..
And I like ur Voice ❤
Awesome video, I am hoping that I will be able to also get that perfect milk foam one day ;-) (Completely random at the moment). How long approximately is that first airing phase with the Breville? (Maybe I am doing this too long as I usually get very much foam but not in this shiny silky quality)
This is super helpful, thanks! (Just got an Express) Also, been watching your coffee playlist and your videos and voice are so relaxing. If that was the intent, then it's working.
thank you so much for the support! 🙂
Thank you for this. Been working on getting that perfect texture for a while now. Looking forward to trying out your tips!
Does this apply to plant-based milks as well? As I have a family history of Cancer and need to avoid the estrogen and BLV in dairy. Thanks for sharing
Does it also help having a good amount of crema to make latte art?
Yes, kind of! I mean you can't do it without crema or a substance with a similar density/texture. For example if you try to do latte art in moka pot coffee (no crema), you've gotta pour extra milk into the base coffee to create a fake layer of crema. But if it's a well pulled shot, then you should be able to pour latte art into it. No need for excess thick crema
Can we do latte art with any espresso machine with milk steamer?
Ideally, yes. Every machine will vary though in power and efficiency of steaming
Hello and salaam thank you for the informative video, I'm practicing my coffee machine. So thank you and have a nice day.
Love your videos! This is really helpful. I just got this machine a week ago and your videos have been helping me. Thank you ☺️
Thanks so much Yahaira!! I'm so happy to hear that my videos are helpful for you 😊 congrats on the new machine!!
Just want to say I really enjoy watching your videos, I have the same machine as you. and am still learning how to get better at latte art and espresso knowledges. Please continue to share videos like this with us !!!!
Great guide, please tell me what kind of coffee it is that has an amazing dark brown color, please what is the name of this coffee, which company?
I use Coava Coffee from Portland, Oregon. You can use code LEENA for $10 off your first order
But I from Israel and is not giv me to sand my country only USA and Canada 😔
I think I've asked this on your video before, but where did you get those cups? esp that yellow/orange one, If I wanted to get those cups in other colors or patterns what type of cup should I look for? Thanks for you videos.
Heyy I recognize you! 👋🏼 thanks for watching my content! amzn.to/389b5vs
That's the cup/size I use for my lattes most often. Big enough to do sufficient latte art (you can fit even more art in there if you're advanced) and small enough to not have diluted espresso hahaa
@@HijabsandAprons 🙏
Absolutely perfect. Surprised that she is not even a barista
